崇明岛，为我国第三大岛。崇明岛位于西太平洋沿岸中国海岸线的中点地区，地处中国最大河流长江入海口。东平国家森林公园坐落于——崇明岛中北部，面积358公顷，是华东地区最大的平原人造森林，这里也是上海地区著名的旅游胜地，上海十佳休闲旅游新景点之一。
公园内林竹茂盛，百鸟鸣唱，曲径通幽，碧波荡漾，野趣盎然，徜徉其间，令人尘虑尽消，流连忘返。目前园内拥有建筑风格独特的钟馗苑、游客中心，气势不凡的游船码头，国际标准的攀岩场，极休闲的阳光浴场。此外，园内还设置了帐篷、垂钓、 烧烤、骑马、射箭、沙滩排球、沙滩泳场、根雕馆、卡丁车、森林童话园等名目繁多的游乐项目和配套设施。每年春、夏、秋三季，成千上万的候鸟迁徙而来繁衍后代，翔集噪鸣于林，成为公园一大奇观。此外，去崇明踏青，交通和住宿都很方便，只是大家不要太过贪玩而赶不上最后一班车。
