How do you difine yourself? As a mother, father, daughter or any one of a myriad different titles? Or do you define yourself by other's perception of you? Do any of these come close to your own knowledge, your personal experience of whom you really are?
In your quiet moments, in times of inexplicable joy, have you had the overwhelming and yet clear and lucid feeling of total invincibility -- a feeling that nothing can hold you down, that you can accomplish anything and everything if you put your mind to it? Well, that feeling is not a random one.
What is ti that gets in the way of your exquisite power?
In fact, the infinite power that is naturally present in each and every one of us by virtue of own consicousness, can be rendered ineffectived if not tended to properly. The stress of our lifestyle, the pollution of our environment, and the collective stress of our world keeps us from functioning at our full potential.
But there are remedies: incorporate modalities in your lifesyle that effectively combat stress and help keep you centered. Some of these opinions are:
Be aware of what you eat, what you use -- both on yourself, and in your environment. Choose natural, organic products.
Live a life of kindness, compassion, and charity -- it keeps you connected to your center, your source, that infinite reservoir within you that is your powerhouse.
Don't judge people, or situation -- approach each moment with the potential of any number of possibilities.
To connect with your real nature that is unbounded and invincible, practice yoga and mediation
Once you are in touch with your true nature, then nothing is beyond your means-- you are truly empowered. And that is an accurate definition of you!

Good morning, ladies and gentemen. This is Li Hua from Senior Three. I’m here today to share with you a good lesson from an overseas Chinese student living in Germany. It is a true story.
After years of hard work, this Chinese student graduated with amazing academic achievements. Everyone thought he was going to get a good job easily and have a bright future. But to his disappointment, he was not even allowed the chance for an interview! The third time he was turned down, he couldn’t help telephoning the company to ask why they didn’t want him. The answer was simple, “We don’t hire dishonest people in Germany.”
What was wrong you might wonder? The truth is, shortly aften he arrived in Germany, this clever student found that it was easy to skip buying subway tickets. So, to save money, he often went without a ticket. As a result, he had been caught without a ticket in the subway three times.
From this story, we learn that we may get short-term benefits by dishonest means, but the truth will come out sooner or later and the cost is high. So remember: honest is the best policy.
That’s all for my speech. Thank you!

Goals are meant to be achieved. To succeed in life, think about how you can take postive actions every day to accomplish your goals. It may not be as difficult as it seems, but it definitely requires action. So, put your actions into overdrive(超速档) and make the most of your efforts.
You can truly make every action you take a positive one that builds momentum and propels you forward. You'll feel better about what you're doing, and your gusto(爱好,嗜好) for life will inspire those around you.
Turning Positive Action into a Positive Life
When you put your best foot forward in all that you do, you'll develop an intense passion that will be unmatched. Sometimes you may feel like sitting back and doing as little as possible, but you'll actually enjoy your life more when you are engaged in the things you love to do.
Life is more fulfilling when you are passionate about your work and family. Even though it may seem challenging to look at everything with passionate and positive eyes, such an outlook is possible. If you're unsure how you can summon more passion for a project or task, there is one tool that will help you build momentum by utilizing the power of a positive mindset(心态,倾向). So what is it? Positive affirmations!
What Are Affirmations All About?
Affirmations can help you take positive action by re-defining how you think and feel. In essence, affirmations are positive statements that activate your mind and encourage you to push forward. Once you implement affirmations into your life, negative, self-defeating thoughts will be a thing of the past.
If you need a positive thought, for example, you can say something as simple as, "I infuse my mind, heart, and spirit with past accomplishments, new ideas, and a fresh attitude." Constantly repeating positive affirmations will help you create a positive outlook in just about any situation imaginable.
Positive affirmations allow you to set your goals, envision them, and reaffirm them each time you state it. This positive statement only needs to be something you desire for yourself and through continued repetition, you can make it your reality. After all, words are powerful because they have the ability to elicit emotion and inspire action.
Affirmations are generally very simple, but they can help you make lasting changes in your life, one step at a time. If you are having a hard time finding the motivation, try an affirmation such as, "I am building momentum with each step I take." As long as your actions are congruent(适合的) with your positive mindset, you will begin to see and feel results nearly instantly.
Affirmations have the power to change the way you think and feel about yourself. Millions of people are using affirmations every day to help them become happier, healthier, and more balanced individuals. You can put your actions into overdrive and accomplish more in less time. After all, if words can move mountains, imagine what you will be able to do when your thoughts, attitudes and actions are aligned!

Good little girls ought not to make mouths at their teachers for every trifling offense. This kind of retaliation(报复,反击) should only be resorted to under peculiarly aggravating circumstances.
If you have nothing but a rag doll stuffed with saw-dust, while one of your more fortunate little playmates has a costly china one, you should treat her with a show of kindness, nevertheless. And you ought not to attempt to make a forcible(强制的) swap with her unless your conscience would justify you in it, and you know you are able to do it.
You ought never to take your little brother's "chawing-gum" away from him by main force; it is better to rope him in with the promise of the first two dollars and a half you find floating down the river on a grindstone(磨石) . In the artless simplicity natural to his time of life, he will regard it as a perfectly fair transaction. In all ages of the world this eminently plausible fiction has lured the obtuse infant to financial ruin and disaster.
If at any time you find it necessary to correct your brother, do not correct him with mud -- never on any account throw mud at him, because it will soil his clothes. It is better to scald him a little; for then you attain two desirable results -- you secure his immediate attention to the lesson you are inculcating, and, at the same time, your hot water will have a tendency to remove impurities(杂质) from his person -- and possibly the skin also, in spots.
If your mother tells you to do a thing, it is wrong to reply that you won't. It is better and more becoming to intimate that you will do as she bids you, and then afterward act quietly in the matter according to the dictates(命令,指示) of your better judgment.
You should ever bear in mind that it is to your kind parents that you are indebted for your food and your nice bed and your beautiful clothes, and for the privilege of staying home from school when you let on that you are sick. Therefore you ought to respect their little prejudices and humor their little whims(奇想,幻想) and put up with their little foibles, until they get to crowding you too much.
Good little girls should always show marked deference for the aged. You ought never to "sass(跟……顶嘴) " old people -- unless they "sass" you first.

Sarah came running in. "Look what I found." Over the top of the paper I was reading came a crispy(易碎的) , crumbling long object that caused me to jump. It was a snake skin that had been shed by one of our many garden snakes.
"Isn't it beautiful?" said my wide-eyed seven-year-old.
I stared at the organic wrapper and thought to myself that it really wasn' t that beautiful, but I have learned never to appear nonchalant(冷淡的) or jaded with children. Everything they see for the first time is elementary to their sense of beauty and creativity; they see only merit and excellence in the world until educated otherwise.
"Why does it do this?" Sarah asked.
Robert, ever the innocent comedian, said:"We have a naked snake in our garden!"
I also try to customize every opportunity to teach my children that there is almost always something beyond the obvious; that there is something else going on besides what they see in front of them. "Snakes shed their skin because they need to renew themselves," I explained. As is so often the case in my family, the original subject leads to another and another, until we are discussing something quite different.
"Why do they need to renew themselves?" Sarah asked.
Robert quipped:" 'Cos they don't like who they are and they want to be someone else."
Sarah and I politely ignored her brother. I suddenly remembered an article on this page many years ago where the writer was expressing her concept of renewal. She used layers of paper over a wall to describe how we hide our original selves, and said that by peeling away those layers one by one, we see the underlying original beneath.
"We often need to shed our skins, those coatings and facades that we cover ourselves with," I said to my now absorbed daughter. "We outgrow some things and find other stuff unwanted or unnecessary. This snake no longer needs this skin. It is probably too stiff and crinkly(起皱的) for him, and he probably doesn' t think he looks as smart in it as he once did. Like buying a new suit."
Of course, I' m sure this explanation won' t sit well with bonafide(诚意) naturalists. But Sarah was getting the point. As we talked, I knew that she began to comprehend, albeit slightly, that renewal is part of progress; that we need to take a good look at ourselves, and our rooms and schoolwork and creativity and spirituality, and see what we need to keep and what we need to cast off. I was careful to point out that this is a natural process, not one to be forced.
"Snakes don' t peel off their skin when they feel like it." I explained. " It happens as a natural consequence of their growth."
"I see, Dad," said Sarah and jumped off my lap, grabbed the snakeskin, and ran off.
I hoped she would remember this. That often, in order to find our real selves underneath the layers of community and culture with which we cloak ourselves year after year, we need to start examining these layers. We need to gently peel(剥) some away, as we recognize them to be worthless, unnecessary, or flawed; or at best, store the discarded ones as mementoes(纪念品) of our promotion to a better vitality or spirit.

What would you do if you failed? Many people may choose to give up. However, the surest way to success is to keep your direction and stick to your goal.
On your way to success, you must keep your direction. It is just like a lamp, guiding you in darkness and helping you overcome obstacles on your way. Otherwise, you will easily get lost or hesitate to go ahead.
Direction means objectives. You can get nowhere without an objective in life.
You can try to write your objective on paper and make some plans to achieve it. In this way, you will know how to arrange your time and to spend your time properly. And you should also have a belief that you are sure to succeed as long as you keep your direction all the time.

A light drizzle was falling as my sister Jill and I ran out of the Methodist Church, eager to get home and play with the presents that Santa had left for us and our baby sister, Sharon. Across the street from the church was a Pan American gas station where the Greyhound bus stopped. It was closed for Christmas, but I noticed a family standing outside the locked door, huddled under the narrow overhang in an attempt to keep dry. I wondered briefly why they were there but then forgot about them as I raced to keep up with Jill.
Once we got home, there was barely time to enjoy our presents. We had to go off to our grandparents' house for our annual Christmas dinner. As we drove down the highway through town, I noticed that the family was still there, standing outside the closed gas station.
My father was driving very slowly down the highway. The closer we got to the turnoff for my grandparents' house, the slower the car went. Suddenly, my father U-turned in the middle of the road and said, "I can't stand it!"
"What?" asked my mother.
"It's those people back there at the Pan Am, standing in the rain. They've got children. It's Christmas. I can't stand it."
When my father pulled into the service station, I saw that there were five of them: the parents and three children - two girls and a small boy.
My father rolled down his window. "Merry Christmas," he said.
"Howdy," the man replied. He was very tall and had to stoop slightly to peer into the car. Jill, Sharon, and I stared at the children, and they stared back at us.
"You waiting on the bus?" my father asked.
The man said that they were. They were going to Birmingham, where he had a brother and prospects of a job.
"Well, that bus isn't going to come along for several hours, and you're getting wet standing here. Winborn's just a couple miles up the road. They've got a shed with a cover there, and some benches," my father said. "Why don't y'all get in the car and I'll run you up there."
The man thought about it for a moment, and then he beckoned to his family. They climbed into the car. They had no luggage, only the clothes they were wearing.
Once they settled in, my father looked back over his shoulder and asked the children if Santa had found them yet. Three glum faces mutely gave him his answer.
"Well, I didn't think so," my father said, winking at my mother, "because when I saw Santa this morning, he told me that he was having trouble finding all, and he asked me if he could leave your toys at my house. We'll just go get them before I take you to the bus stop."
All at once, the three children's faces lit up, and they began to bounce around in the back seat, laughing and chattering.
When we got out of the car at our house, the three children ran through the front door and straight to the toys that were spread out under our Christmas tree. One of the girls spied Jill's doll and immediately hugged it to her breast. I remember that the little boy grabbed Sharon's ball. And the other girl picked up something of mine. All this happened a long time ago, but the memory of it remains clear. That was the Christmas when my sisters and I learned the joy of making others happy.
My mother noticed that the middle child was wearing a short-sleeved dress, so she gave the girl Jill's only sweater to wear.
My father invited them to join us at our grandparents' for Christmas dinner, but the parents refused. Even when we all tried to talk them into coming, they were firm in their decision.
Back in the car, on the way to Winborn, my father asked the man if he had money for bus fare.
His brother had sent tickets, the man said.
My father reached into his pocket and pulled out two dollars, which was all he had left until his next payday. He pressed the money into the man's hand. The man tried to give it back, but my father insisted. "It'll be late when you get to Birmingham, and these children will be hungry before then. Take it. I've been broke before, and I know what it's like when you can't feed your family."
We left them there at the bus stop in Winborn. As we drove away, I watched out the window as long as I could, looking back at the little gihugging her new doll.

People always say: life is nothing but a sum of moments. I suppose everyone has their own moments, either high or low, up or down, such as being born, first learning to walk, laughing hard, bursting into tears, being touched by a child’s smile, losing beloved ones…today I think I witnessed or experienced such a moment, because it is the first time that I have ever seen a chapel ceremony, even being a very brief one.
A heavy guy in black suit and long beard came in solemnly with a pack and I first thought he was a magician based on his dress. Then, two big silver candleholders were placed on a long cube desk. He carefully put two long candles on the holders and lit them up. Under it was a small red rug, which made it more revere and sacred. He then took out a small book with a deep blue cover, of which the feeling was like the Holy Bible but more like Hebrews.
All of a sudden, he soared in an amazingly beautiful voice. The melody was beyond imagination. Although I did not understand a word of it, I could still sense that it was just the sacred melody as if from angels. The other people around were all echoing to it and it seemed the time even stopped just to listen to the holy rhythm and pious prayer. I literally saw tears in somebody’s eyes.
After the chapel session, everyone took a cup of wine and a slice of bread from the priest’s hand and savor the taste of life their god has given to them. At that moment, the candle light, the priest in black, the teary woman, the wine and bread symbolizing human’s flesh and blood…all of these transformed into a sacred moment of my life as a eye witness, as if my body was frozen in awe and wonder. Pictures formed before my eyes-- the primitives, who wore the skin of the wild animals and ate raw meat, danced in a circle around the fire and worshipping the gods whom they believed were controlling the thunder, the rain, the flood, the harvest, the human lifethe interval is thousands and thousands of years, but the scene and the spirit still resembles to great extent. I wonder with the time flying and the world changing, there is probably something that remains within the human race.
Technically, it was not one of my moments but rather a sacred moment that I witnessed as a bystander since I am sort of an atheist. However, to know the fact that there is such a mysterious and sacred thing exists in the human world which is called religion and that it elevates the soul of the believers and somewhat makes the world a better place is simply astounding.
