The government should control the amount of violence in films and on television in order to decrease the violent crimes in society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this issue?
Recently, the discussion about whether the government should control the amount of violence in films and on television has become a heated one. People take diverse attitudes towards this issue. Before presenting my view, I seek to analyze the issue from different angles.
From some people’s point of view, there are many good reasons for controlling the amount of violence in films and on television. First, violent films and television can do harm to young people. Because they contains numerous of erotic, corrupt and provoking episode, which can bring negative influence to na?ve young people. Moreover, since young people are in the formative years, they are not mature enough. They always like imitating their idols, no matter right or wrong, which lead to the increasing of the juvenile delinquents. Thirdly, violence begets violence. Violent films and television can make people aggressive and cold-blooded, which enhance the violent crime in society. In a word, controlling the amount of violence in films and TV effectively can decrease the violent crimes in society and preserve social security.
Many others, however, take a quite strong opposite attitude towards this issue. They believe violent media have their positive sides, which should not be controlled by government. To begin with, there are many valuable education functions in this kind of films and TV. Because they can reflect the reality, and we can’t imagine that there aren’t any con information but only pro things in our world. Secondly, if the government control the violent films and television, it must influence the development of the entertainment industry. Last but not least, they can prepare children for the adult world and teach them to cherish life.
As far as I am concern, I strongly believe that the amount of violence in films and TV should be controlled. At the same time, we cannot deny the advantages brought by them. And the best policy is to develop the merits of the violent films and television, while grading and filtering them, describing that which are not fit for the children to watch.

In our country, it is obvious now that the universitygraduates earn more money than non-graduates (afunny contrast in which It was opposite scenariowhen in 1970s china). I quite agree with thosegraduates who have paid a lot for their studies andexpect to make more for either himself or his family. However, it is not so optimistically for those whohope to make it. The critical career competitionmakes them frustrated due to many factors involved.
One of the utmost factors is they feel what they anticipate is not matching up with what theyhave found in reality. Many university graduates are not satisfied with what they get for whatthey have done. As a matter of fact, some of them expect so unrealistic that they immediatelylose the credit to the workforce they belong to. On contrary, some of the non-graduatestudents who are more realistic in career hunting tend to get more satisfied job compared withgraduates. Thus what really matters here in salary balance is how one can contribute to theorganization rather than what background they hold.
The tuition is really high in China. Many high quality students due to this have lost theiracademic pursuit. This is really shameful for a family or any government who initially shouldtake the burden for whatever reason is supposed to be. Any responsible government shouldinevitably take this burden and put more money in order to bring up better next generationfor the nation.

In the contemporary world, universities have nosex discrimination against women, but it does notmean to say, in my opinion, that they should enrollequal numbers of male and female students to studyin every subject due to unique characteristics ofsubjects and personal choices.
Industrial arts and metalworking, for example, areareas of general education that deals with technology and industry. In the past, most schoolsrequired boys to take industrial arts. Today, though most courses in these fields arecoeducational, yet only a small number of female students study these subjects because theyrequire manual skills and mental abilities as most graduates in manufacturing fields work infactories where working conditions include high levels of dust, heat, or noise. Some factory jobsalso require great strength or standing for long periods.
However, university home economics programs that aim to train people to work asprofessional home economists attract many people, especially women as many of theseprofessionals work in the food, housing, and clothing industries. Some work in the fields ofdesign, marketing, nutrition, or family services; others communicate information toconsumers or teach skills used in the home.
More women serve in the field of nursing than in any other profession except teaching. Mostnurses are women. The proportion of female enrollment in nursing programs, therefore, predominates in medical colleges.
To conclude, the proportion of gender in university’s enrollment, in general, is determinedby distinct features of the subjects and personal choices, instead of strict regulations.

The importance of computers continues to increasein schools. Some people think that teachers will notplay an essential role in the classroom in future. ButI have some mental reservations on the issue.
Teachers have long depended on textbooks andother printed materials to assist learning. Now computers have been adapted for classroomuse. In a classroom where computers are used extensively, the teacher may no longer be themain source of information. But the teacher may act as a facilitator, guiding and assistingstudents to locate, interpret, and share information.
Since computerized instruction can provide teachers with detailed information about eachstudent’s progress, teachers who use computers may have more time to give extra attention tostudents who need it.
What is more important is that teachers’ skills and attitudes influence everything that happensin their classrooms. During the years that young people spend in school, teachers are amongthe most important people in their lives. Teachers often help students as much by personalexample as they do by offering instruction. Students who see their teachers demonstratepatience, trustworthiness, attention to work, and love of learning may be encouraged todevelop similar qualities in themselves. The computer can in no way replace the role of theteacher in these respects.
In conclusion, a teacher’s role of guiding and assisting students learning, and his shiningexample for students to follow are what a teacher is praiseworthy for, and the computer hasonly proved to be a valuable educational tool.

Firstly, the development of automobiles has had anenormous effect on people’s way of life throughoutthe world. The automobile has given people freedom of movement. It influences where peoplelive and work and how they spend their leisure time. However, each year, motor vehicleaccidents kill an estimated 300,000 people throughout the world. But it is the drivers that arethe chief factor in vehicle safety because they are responsible for about two-thirds of allaccidents. Besides, the automobile itself has become safer and modern road building techniqueshave increasingly lowered the risk of automobile accidents.
Secondly, many nations depend on automobile production to provide jobs for millions ofworkers. Filling stations, restaurants, and other businesses that serve automobile travelers areof major importance to a country’s economy. In addition, many developing nations have begunmaking automobiles to stimulate industry. For example, China has promoted broad-basedautomobile manufacturing. However, automobiles produce terrible air pollution that endangerspeople’s health in many of the world’s big cities. But in many countries, steps have been takento control air pollution caused by automobiles.
In summary, the striking changes in people’s lives and the economic impact created by theautomobile in the early 20th century have since spread across much of the globe and itsdisadvantages are becoming insignificant.

Today the way we consider human psychology andmental development is heavily influenced by thegenetic sciences. We now understand theimportance of inherited characteristics more thanover before. Yet we are still unable to decide whetheran individual’s personality and development are moreinfluenced by genetic factors (nature) or by theenvironment (nurture).
Research, relating to identical twins, has highlighted how significant inherited characteristicscan be for an individual's life. But whether these characteristics are able to develop within thepersonality of an individual surely depends on whether the circumstances allow such adevelopment. It seems that the experiences we have in life are so unpredictable and sopowerful, that they can boost or over-ride other influences, and there seems to be plenty ofresearch findings to confirm this.
My own view is that there is no one major influence in a person's life. Instead, the traits weinherit from our parents and the situation and experiences that we encounter in life areconstantly interacting. It is the interaction of the two that shapes a person's personality anddictates how that personality develops. If this were not true, we would be able to predict thebehavior and character of a person from the moment they were born.
In conclusion, I do not think that either nature or nurture is the major influence on a person, but that both have powerful effects. How these factors interact is still unknown today and theyremain largely unpredictable in a person’s life.

Nobody can say with confidence that childrenshould be taught at home or at any children'sinstitutions. There are many different children andevery one demand of education suitable only forhim.
But for most of children the best way of learning thelife is being in the children's institutions. Nobodywould argue that contacts between children of thesame age are very important for bringing your child up. Such a contact is very important forplaying, entertaining and learning living with other people. The harmonious living with otherpeople, to my mind, is the first task for any man. Lack of this harmony sets problems andtroubles.
The children need space to run and make noise, to jump and cry. Do you or your neighboursallow these actions for your child? If you live in town, it is difficult to find a safe place to play.Kindergartens give such a possibility. They give space, a lot of toys and constructions forphysical exercises. So, if you have bad living conditions, the kindergarten is the best way foryou. But if you have a large family with many children and enough space, you may keep yourchild at home. You should be sure that the child feels, dressed and comfortable. His brothersand sisters give him necessary contacts. It's noticed long ago that children in big families aremuch more easy-tempered and calm. They are located in more harmonic world than others.
Sometimes differences in age put troubles in contacts between children in large families. Then itis better for child to be sent to the kindergarten (school). But if quarrels don't last for a longtime, everything is all right. In general, quarrels develop ability to cooperate with people. Theydevelop a personal initiative and force setting the balance. In such a way the child gets lessonsof life. Addly, the quarrels often take place in kindergartens and schools and we shouldn't fearit.
Side by side with quarrels parents often are afraid of colds which happen in kindergartens morefrequently. Parents prefer keeping the child at home. But for a healthy child odd cold (if illnessoccurs, it goes its normal course) can't make big harm to the child. And if the child is adaptableto the conditions of public places earlier it would be better for him in future.
In general, I am a follower of the theory of keeping children in adapted places such as goodkindergartens. But keeping children in such a place can't replace family and home. Onlytogether they make harmonic and beautiful union.

The pursuit of happiness has long been the dream ofgenerations of human beings. They have alwaysbeen puzzled by the essence of happiness. What ishappiness? Is it closely related to one’s economic success? Will one’s financial success lead tohappiness directly? Personally, I don’t agree that one’s economic success is the onlyprerequisite of one’s happiness in life.
Happiness may fall into different categories. An old saying goes like this: “One man’s meat isanother man’s poison”. Happiness may mean being a successful and respected leader of acompany, or a stable and comfortable job in a large international company, or a big flatdowntown, a fantastic set of furniture, etc. However, happiness can also be a harmonious andpeaceful family, or a hospitable and considerate friend, or just a smile, a gesture, a hint. Infact, happiness may be composed of anything you could ever think of. At least, we may havetwo types of happiness: spiritual happiness and materialistic happiness.
One’s materialistic happiness is dependant on one’seconomic success, though not completely. Without astrong and steady economic background, one couldnever imagine an easy and simple life, let alone anaffluent and luxurious one. If you aren’t able toafford a house, a car, or even a book, anybodywould be horrified at the mere mention of this kindof life. Definitely, some people will feel happy rightaway if their basic demands for life are satisfied. However, we have to admit that these people stillneed to be successful materialistically to somedegree.
On the other hand, one’s success in economy may not necessarily lead to one’s spiritualhappiness. As we all know, money doesn’t get you everything and some even say that money isthe root of all evils. One’s financial success may be built on the sacrifice of time, health andlove, which are the three most essential elements of spiritual happiness. All of us are not newto this picture: a successful business man tasting loneliness alone with a broken heart.
In my point of view, one’s economic success is only one of the key factors of happiness, butnever the only one. To be happy, one needs to be both spiritually and materially satisfiedthough each of us may have a totally different picture of happiness.

例:how many circuses are there in the festival?
A. one
B. two
C. several
“For today’s report though, Geoffrey, I’m looking at some of the theatrical events that you might like to see; in particular, at this year’s theme-Circuses1.(此处原词第一次重现,学生需要再此处提高警惕,答案即将登场). I’m going to tell you about two Circus2 (原文中生词第二次出现) performances, but there are plenty of others in the programme”.
Where does Circus Romano perform?
A. in the theatre
B. in a tent
C. in a stadium
当原文中提到Where do you live?
