A current account (also called a cheque account) is a convenient and safe method of handling money. Your salary can go straight into your account, and these days more and more people are paid by direct credit instead of in cash. Direct credit means that your employer, or anyone else who wishes to pay you money, can pay the money straight out of their account into yours. Cheques, postal orders and money orders (including International Money Orders) can be paid direct to your account also.
You can pay your bills by cheque in shops, hotels, airports, restaurants and other places (but not in taxes, for example). You can pay regular bills by direct debit from your account. These regular bills include insurance premiums, rent, rates and hire purchase installments. These regular bills must be for sums of money where the amount remains the same every month during a certain period.
You can tell your bank, for example, to pay Monarch Insurance Co. £10 per month on the 21st of every month from now until further notice. The bank will pay this automatically, by banker's order (also called standing order) or direct debit. You don't have to post the cheque to Monarch Insurance Co.; you don't have to travel to their office.
With a current account you have the advantage of a cheque book service, which means that you don't have the risk of carrying large amounts of cash with you. You also know where your money goes and where it comes from, because you get a regular statement from your bank, showing debit and credit entries (or payments and receipts respectively), and the balance. Nowadays banks in the UK do not return your cheque with each statement, so it is advisable to keep a record of transactions on the counterfoil or stub.

I tend to think it ridiculous that the schoolssimplyeducate the children subjects beneficial totheir future career. This is partly because few peoplewould be one hundred percent sure what careers the children with different life goals orbackgrounds would develop or whether they would change their minds. So I doubt whether thegood attemptof schools would end up taking effect.
However, the main concern is that only teaching some of the subjects would be unfairtomost children who not only have a burning desire for academic knowledge but also are moreinterested in art or outdooractivities. Instead, modern school children should be given a widerange of subjects whether the schools think them useful for children’s future career, which canbe compared to the fact that diversefoods are positive to people’s physical health.
This means that some subjects like music and sports are quite necessary in today’s schoolsthat are expected to help with developing children in many ways. Children would go out ofclassroom to playground and breathe fresh air that is good for their brain by taking physicaleducation; they could be enlightened by studying systematicallymusic knowledge or the way toappreciateworks. Furthermore, some musical or sports talents would start to come out in thatimportant period.
In conclusion, my view is that children should try their best to study any subjectsbeneficial to their future, and that the duty of the school should be to provide good qualityones and, if possible, to set a scientific timetableincluding an appropriate proportion ofdifferent classes.

Few people claim to be able to maintain the work-lifeharmony due to the competing pressures at workand demands at home. In this age of moderntechnology, one of the consequences of theimbalance is stress, a chronic problem commonamong working men and women alike. It is possible that the root of the problem is anundesirable and yet inevitable conflict between career ambition and personal as well as familylife.
Some people have begun to think that working gets in the way of living, particularly when theyare struggling for professional achievements. A reduction of official working hours does littleto relieve the stress that affects one's life because of one's ambition for financial gains andsocial recognition. To illustrate, typical workaholics continue working at home, ortelecommuting, in front of a computer screen. Since one hopes to stand out of the crowd, there is little time left for leisure, pleasure and spiritual development. This being the case, homeis no longer a heavenly place for rest as it used to be. Accordingly, one may feel out of thework-life equilibrium in the presence of increasingly keen competition, as if from alldirections.
More often than not, there is no clear line between work and family life, home becoming almostan extension of the workplace. Thus, the greater is the stress of trying to become successful, the less likely is the work-life balance, considering there is a price to be paid for taking pride inworking, usually at the cost of a variety of family responsibilities and personal enjoyment. Ofcourse, one can manage the work-life harmony skillfully to some extent, but not for long. Infact, this situation is so much like a teeter-totter, one end being work and the other being life. The metaphor refers to a rarely steady state, now moving from balance and now moving backtowards it. That is why many people find it difficult to perform a balancing act between workand life.
The conflict of work and life may be the cause of the problem, but the solution must dependon one's attitude about money and time. Tackling the problem of the imbalance is nothingeasy because the stress of work is invading home. To be realistic, it makes sense that peoplework because they need money to make ends meet at home, and that time for personal lifemust sometimes be limited only to uneasy sleep after a hard day.

some people claim that the disadvantages of thecar are more than the advantages,do you agree ordisagree?
With the development of science and technology, the cars have already become the importantcomponent in our daily life gradually. Cars make ourlife convenient and swift. However, too many carshave caused very serious social problems. Somepeople claim that the disadvantages of car are more than the advantages. I doubt whether theargument can bear much analysis.
Since one century ago, the auto industry has been developed at full speed worldwide, andhas brought the enormous progresses to our life. For example, the car is the mostconvenient tool of transportation. We can be on and off duty by car every day, we can go totravel by car on the vacation, we can utilize the cars to deal with some emergency too. The caris playing an important role in our daily life. They make our rhythm of life faster and faster, make our business become more and more efficient.
On the other hand, the development of the automobile has brought a lot of infant industryto people, Give people countless employment opportunities too. Such as, manufacturingindustry, repairing industry and maintaining industry. We are enjoying the convenience thatthe cars bring to us; at the same time we can utilize the auto industry to supportourselves. However, we can not ignore that too many cars cause enormous social problems, for example, traffic jam, air pollution, traffic accident, to which we have to find a solution.
In a word, the cars have brought enormous change to our life; the advantages are farmore than the disadvantages. We should recognize the merit of the cars, and do our best tosolve the problems. If so, our life will be brighter.

There is nothing unusual about energy like coalsand oils being consumed, principally becauseeconomic development depends on natural resourcesall the time. But what is happening today isextraordinary judged by the standards of the past.It is energy depletion on a massive scale and thisproblem is so knotty that should deserve our closerheed.
Amongst the diverse factors contributing to theenergy crises around the world, government’s short-sighted policies and citizens’ extravagant use ofautomobiles are probably the two most significantones. By presuming on their natural resources, quite a few countries, especially developingones, are eager to develop their economy in order to gain an edge over their rivals. Admittedly, their intensive use of the energy facilitates, to some extent, the developments of otherindustries in short term. Additionally, the amount of private cars increases at such a breakneckspeed that the petroleum used amounts to an intimidating proportion of the naturalresources.
The consequences are undoubtedly disastrous for human beings. Although countries canboast their growth of GDP, their citizens have to endure the ever deteriorated environmentwith stinking gas belching from factories and vehicles, polluted water due to fuels infiltratingunderground, even ultraviolet radiation in the absence of ozone layer and, therefore, theirquality of life is by no means improved. Also, sustainable development can never come intotrue in this situation, meaning that our descendants can benefit nothing except sterile landand polluted air and water from their ancestors.
Therefore, our government must take serious steps to attack those problems. The first andforemost is that governments have to reverse their mindset and no longer deem the growth ofGDP their first goal. Rather, the betterment of citizens’ quality of life should deserve moreattention than the economic growth. Furthermore, the use of private cars should bediscouraged by authorities, who must shoulder the responsibility of improving publictransportation in order to facilitate people as well as release the burden of energyconsumption.
In conclusion, to avoid the phrase “filthy rich” added to themselves, countries must pay moreheed to the efficient use of their energy and the issue of environmental protection, whilethey develop their economy; otherwise, environmental apocalypse and energy crisis are fearedto happen in the horizon.

The pursuit of happiness has long been the dream ofgenerations of human beings. They have alwaysbeen puzzled by the essence of happiness. What ishappiness? Is it closely related to one’s economic success? Will one’s financial success lead tohappiness directly? Personally, I don’t agree that one’s economic success is the onlyprerequisite of one’s happiness in life.
Happiness may fall into different categories. An old saying goes like this: “One man’s meat isanother man’s poison”. Happiness may mean being a successful and respected leader of acompany, or a stable and comfortable job in a large international company, or a big flatdowntown, a fantastic set of furniture, etc. However, happiness can also be a harmonious andpeaceful family, or a hospitable and considerate friend, or just a smile, a gesture, a hint. Infact, happiness may be composed of anything you could ever think of. At least, we may havetwo types of happiness: spiritual happiness and materialistic happiness.
One’s materialistic happiness is dependant on one’seconomic success, though not completely. Without astrong and steady economic background, one couldnever imagine an easy and simple life, let alone anaffluent and luxurious one. If you aren’t able toafford a house, a car, or even a book, anybodywould be horrified at the mere mention of this kindof life. Definitely, some people will feel happy rightaway if their basic demands for life are satisfied. However, we have to admit that these people stillneed to be successful materialistically to somedegree.
On the other hand, one’s success in economy may not necessarily lead to one’s spiritualhappiness. As we all know, money doesn’t get you everything and some even say that money isthe root of all evils. One’s financial success may be built on the sacrifice of time, health andlove, which are the three most essential elements of spiritual happiness. All of us are not newto this picture: a successful business man tasting loneliness alone with a broken heart.
In my point of view, one’s economic success is only one of the key factors of happiness, butnever the only one. To be happy, one needs to be both spiritually and materially satisfiedthough each of us may have a totally different picture of happiness.

Whether stricter punishments is the only way toprevent accidents from happening on roads hastriggered a controversial debate Attitudes towardsthis issue vary greatly. It is wiser to take a closerlook at both sides before I present my opinion.
Advocates firmly believe that it is sensible toimpose stricter penalty on those who break thetraffic rules. Drivers will be more careful when theyconsider the punishment hard to afford. As the fineis not high,it is not deterrent . According to a survey , among the drivers questioned , 65% ofthem admit that they pay more attention to driving if more serious punishments are carried out.
Opponents, however, hold the view that there are other aspects which can decrease thefrequency of accidents. Firstly, road constructions should be more rational. Nowadays, moreand more roads and highways are being built, but some of them were not designedappropriately, which sometimes cause traffic accidents. Secondly, pedestrians should heightentheir safety awareness while crossing the roads . Some pedestrians disobey rules andregulations, which should assume the responsibilities of accidents and be penalized. The lastbut not least, the growing amount of private cars is a contributing factor, the governmentshould put forward some feasible means to control the number of cars ., such as imposinghigher tax or limiting the cars running on roads at rush hours .
As far as I am concerned, I am in favor of the latter view. Only stricter punishment is notinsufficient access to decrease accidents., other methods should be enforced simultaneously, such as reinforcing supervising and setting digital camera on roads.

A company is an organization which operates a business in one of these forms: A business which is owned by a single individual who is entitled to all of the profits
and assumes all liabilities of the business is called a sole proprietorship. When two or more parties share the profits and liabilities of a company it is called a
partnership. Partnerships usually are "limited partnerships" in which a managing partner runs the day-to-
day business while the limited partners are not involved in management decisions and enjoy limited liability. Sole proprietorships and partnerships usually
adopt a company name known as a DBA or "doing business as" that company name. As business grows, the principals might want to apply for a corporate charter.
The corporation formed in this process is considered to be a separate individual by law and usually provides certain tax relief, expense deductions, and liability
protection to the principals involved. Corporations may be privately or publicly owned.

Introduction shows main idea
Computers are now essential in many areas of life – modern banking, retail andinformation exchange among others. However, this is not true for education. At a simple levelsome subjects may be better taught using computers, but to explain important concepts ahuman teacher is still indispensable.
Why computers do well, with examples
There are some subjects in which a computer can be used successfully to teach. Elementarymathematics, elementary language leaning, any area which requires a student to memorizebasic facts through repetition is well suited to computer learning. The computer can beprogrammed to provide an endless number of simple questions, and as the student answersthese questions the facts are learned and reinforced.
What computers cannot be, with an example
However, in the learning and practice of more complex ideas, the computer is notadequate. A computer can evaluate an answer as right or wrong, but it cannot determinewhy. It cannot find out why a student is making mistakes, and then re-present importantconcepts in a different way so the student will understand. It cannot determine at what stagein a mathematics problem the student has made an error, it can only indicate that the finalanswer is wrong. Tasks involving reasoning cannot be taught by computers, as there are toomany variables for a computer to deal with successfully.
Conclusion re-states main ideas
Thus, while computers may be useful as a tool for practicing simple skills, they are not anessential feature of modern education, because they cannot monitor a student’s grasp ofconcepts, nor evaluate a student’s reasoning. Until further developments in computers aremade the human teacher will remain indispensable.
