历年来,关于英语写作方法的探讨有许多。如何提高学生写作水平是教学过程中的难点,写作也成了考试中的重点。小编根据多年的英语教学摸索,我认为英语写作中应重点抓基础,这是培养学生写作兴趣,提高写作水平的基础与前提。
最常见的有三种情况。第一种情况就是对立观点(包括选择子类)的情况。这种情况主要有(AB——I——C)、(A——B——I)和(AB——AB——I)的写法(其中A和B表示对立的观点,I表示我,C表示结论。具体分析参见贡献写作心得之一),其中每个文章都有开篇句,放在第一段的开头。这里若只有一句话,单独成段就不大可能。若有两句话或以上,就可单独成段,但这种情形并不多。
第二种情形是事物性质的情形(包括利弊子类)。开头一般单独成段。中间根据要求,有时利与弊都写,有时只写优点,有时只写问题或弊病。
第三种情形是提出问题——分析原因——提出解决办法的情形。这种情况的混合模板最多。注意根据具体情况第二段有可能略去,第三段可以非常简略。
上述包含了大部分的情形,但还不完全。让我们在纵向分析以后,来进行一下横向的分析。
开头:引入主题
中间A:
1)对立观点
2)利弊、优点或问题
3)分析原因(有时是分析必要性)
中间B:
1)自己的看法或做法(想想整体——个体的情形)
2)解决办法(或趋势展望)
结尾:结论
中间核心的部分B是可能没有的,或者用很简洁的话与结尾融在一起。也可能没有A有B,这种可能性很小。这样分析以后,绝大多数文章就包含进来了。但大家注意,这种模式没有覆盖纯粹的记叙文和描写文——这两种文章的记叙和描写的部分是没有模板的,只有靠大家分别依据时间和空间的线索去发挥了。
在这里我们举几个比较难的例子,先谈谈涉及自己(整体——个体)的情形:

这是95年1月六级真题。写成三段。起始段可写成两句话,许多不良广告——危害巨大,注意这两句话可以合并成一句。第二段可以从三方面分析危害,首句要写好——其危害可以总结如下。第三段写态度,因为次段已写了危害,这段应该写解决办法。因为这篇文章有两个重要模块(即第二、第三段),可以写得干净利索,只分两个方面。建议段内写成四句话,即总分总的结构,如下:
In my mind, the government and the citizens should join hands to put an end to these false advertisements. On the one hand, the government should punish the advertisers severely lest they harm the customers again. On the other hand, common citizens should report such harmful advertisements as soon as possible. Only by the joint efforts of the government and the common people can we do away with false advertisements.
首句中in my mind这样的词组或句型不可少,扣提纲中的第三点和标题开头。次句和第三句力求平行、工整。最后一句采用only引起倒装句,效果强烈,此段中的呼应(coherence)达到极点,最后文章以false advertisements结尾来扣标题中心词。

肯定与否定是两个完全对立的概念,容不得半点含糊。然而,英语的否定形式相当繁杂,稍有不慎,难免有“谬以千里”之虞。本文拟将英汉两种语言对否定概念的表达方式作一概括性分析,并简述部分翻译技巧。
英语否定概念的表达形式大致可分为两类——显形否定与隐形否定。前者一般借助否定词或含否定意义的句型表达,其否定含义较为直观,故有明否定之称;后者无明显否定词,其否定含义往往要靠上下文或语境来推定,比较难以把握,故有暗否定或间接否定之称。
现分述如下:
常用否定词

avoid,ban,call off,cancel,deny,deprive,exclude,escape,evade,forbid,free...from,free from/of,fail,hate,ignore,lack,lose,miss,naught,neglect, prohibit,quit, refuse,rid,rule out,stop以及above,against,beneath,beyond,far from,off,out of,past和absent,bad,bare, empty, last, poor,vaccant等可用于表达否定概念的词。
1) 这类否定句要注意如下三个问题:
否定程度的强弱,说话者的态度以及否定句式表肯定概念
He is not richer than I. 他不比我富。
He is no richer than I. 他和我一样,也不富。
He is not a statesman. 他不是政治家。
He is no statesman. 他绝非政治家。(弦外音:他不懂政治)
No less than fifty people were killed in the accident. 事故中多达五十人死亡(够多的,≈as many as,多达)。

In no circumstances should we be conceited.我们绝不应该骄傲自满。
但有些否定词的位置不同,含义也不同。
I haven't decided to go there. 我没决定去不去那儿。
I have decided not to go there.我已决定不去那儿。
这类词还有 advise,tell,ask,require,request,pretend 等。
3)部分否定(或不完全否定)
除了上述c)类词以外,当all,both,every,everything,everybody,everywhere,always,often,completely, wholly,entirely,necessarily 与not 连用时,也表示部分否定:
I do not remember all those names.我记不得所有的名称。
He does not often come here. 他不是老来这儿。 Don't always ask for help.不要老让人帮忙。
另外,d)类词属多义词,必须多加小心,尤其是beyond等介词,要注意其搭配关系。
如:It's quite beyond me (above me, past me, beyond my depth). 这个我理解不了。

错误原因:粗心大意,只看下句就回答上句,没考虑全文的上下衔接,没关注最后的标点符号,关注标点符号,一定要 注意细节,这是我在平时讲课时常提醒的,结果还是没注意到,要学会全方位思考问题,学习就是这么严谨的事情。
四,书面测试第七大题连词成句第74题:原题是: has, my ,father ,,milk ,for ,breakfast ,always
他的几次答案分别是:1,My father breakfast always has for milk.
2, My father breakfast always for has milk.
3, My father always breakfast for has milk.
正确答案:My father always has milk for breakfast.
分析其错误原因如下:句子意义明白,在语法结构方面思维混乱,按中国人的语言习惯去思考连句,平时的朗读背诵还得加强,有利于培养英文的语感,英文的句子一般将时间状语,地点状语甩在句尾,这也是讲课多次提到的。要学会随时扭转思维,适应中英文语言转换。
另外他把has翻译成有,一个英文单词翻译成中文有多种意义,具体应该翻译成什么要根据整个句子的含义和整篇文章的含义而定。
五,书面测试第五大题B部分词汇运用题。第二句话 我让他翻译,他把Have a look at the clothes.中的 have不加思索地翻译成有, Have a look at 是英语中的固定搭配,单词不能单独的解释,是一个完整的含义,看一看,证明他平时词组积累不到位。他把We sell shirts for only 80 yuan .译成:我们的裙子只有80元。他把skirt和shirt又混了,前者是短裙,但后者是衬衫!应该译成:我们的衬衫仅售80元。
又帮他积累了一些固定答配:
be at a good price be at great sale
六,书面测试第五大题第59空,他把图上画的梨看成了草莓, ,填错,而且这个地方要注意名词变复数问题,这个句子中重点词汇是two 。他把pear 拼成了price,这是很多学生的共性,相类似的单词总爱张冠李戴,究其原因就是心情浮躁,急躁,学习不是非常严谨细心的态度而造成的。
七,一些重读闭音节单词动词变动名词的一些规律也要求他点滴积累,我希望我教给学生的更多的是方法,培养他们更多的良好的学习习惯,从点滴做起,点滴积累:
如:swim----swimming , sit ----sitting , shop---shopping . put----putting 等等。要求他自己今后进行相关积累。
八,以字母o 结尾的名词变复数问题:
巧记以o 结尾的名词的复数形式
名词单数变复数,本不是个太难的问题。谁都知道在一般情况下加s,其他的如以s,x,ch,sh结尾的加es。但对以o结尾的名词,如 hero(英雄),piano(钢琴),bamboo(竹),solo(独唱)这一类,到底是该加s,还是该加es,常使中学生困惑不解。我们可按下面一条规律来记住它们的复数形式:指人和农作物的加es、其他的加s.(或者是有生命的加es,无生命的加s)
如下面单词加es
Negro—Negroes (黑人)
hero—heroes (英雄)
tomato—tomatoes (西红柿)
potato—potatoes (土豆)
而下面的单词加s
photo—photos (相片)
zoo—zoos (动物园)
radio—radios (收音机)
piano—pianos (钢琴)
单词tobacco(烟草),coo(鸽子咕咕叫声)却不适用这一条。
这里再介绍一个帮助记忆的好方法。张道真先生编的《实用英语语法》中写道:“以o结尾的词多数都加es,但下面两类只加s”:
(1)词末为两个元音字母的词
(2)某些外来词
这样,凡外来词则加 s.如 photos,solos,pianos,kilos(千克),tohaccos。凡词尾以两个元音结尾的词则加 s.如:zoos, bamboos,coos, radios, studios(艺术家的工作室)。
除此而外,其他的都加 es,如 echoes(回声),torpedoes(鱼雷)。
