A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" He then stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and a wonderful family, but realizing his father was very old, he thought perhaps he should go to see him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make the arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he was reading, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words... "PAID IN FULL".
How many times do we miss blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.
Sometimes we don't realize the good fortune we have or we could have because we expect "the packaging" to be different. What may appear as bad fortune may in fact be the door that is just waiting to be opened.

The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy.”
The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found out the box was empty. He yelled at her, stating, "Don't you know, when you give someone a present, there is supposed to be something inside? The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried, "Oh, Daddy, it's not empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. They're all for you, Daddy."
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness. Only a short time later, an accident took the life of the child. It is also told that her father kept that gold box by his bed for many years and, whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.
In a very real sense, each one of us, as humans beings, have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses... from our children, family members, friends, and God. There is simply no other possession, anyone could hold, more precious than this.

Conservatism refers to the acceptance of anythingfamiliar and refusal of anything strange orforeign. There are numerous facts that tell theconservatism of the Englishmen.
The monarchy as nominal head of the state stillexists in the highly developed capitalist country.
The national anthem was, is and will be in the near1000 years the old “God Save the King (or Queen)”.
English judges as usual wear long wigs in law courts, as shown in many films shot in HongKong.(As a colony of the British Empire, Hong Kong was once forced to adopt the British legalsystem.)
Despite the fact that the feudal class is a term of only history significance,
noble titles are conferred on distinguished persons, who would accept the titles as somethingof the greatest honor.
Many Englishmen still spend lots of money keeping dummy fireplaces that are of no value atall, although their rooms are heated by gas or electric fire. They find it difficult to say goodbye tothe past.
As the first country to complete the industrial revolution, Britain refused to introduce decimalsystem until 1971.Pence, shilling, pound and inch, foot, yard... all these are hard to beforgotten.
English people are always suspicious of any new plans of the government.Today they are stilldoubtful of the Europe integration plan, thus they are reluctant to allow pound to beintegrated into Euro Dollars.
Never talk about any kind of reform to an Englishman, he would surely be silent and keep awayfrom you!

0 who will walk a mile with me
Along life's merry way?
A comrade blithe and full of glee,
Who dares to laugh out loud and free
And let his frolic fancy play,
Like a happy child, through the flowers gay
That fill the field and fringe the way
Where he walks a mile with me.
And who will walk a mile with me
Along life's weary way?
A friend whose heart has eyes to see
The stars shine out o'er the darkening lea,
And the quiet rest at the end o' the day-
A friend who knows, and dares to say,
The brave, sweet words that cheer the way
Where he walks a mile with me.
With such a comrade, such a friend,
I fain would walk till journey's end,
Through summer sunshine, winter rain,
And then? - Farewell, we shall meet again!

Gentlemen of the jury, the best friend a man has inthis world may turn against him and become hisenemy. His son or daughter that he has reared withloving care may prove ungrateful.
Those who are nearest and dearest to us, thosewhom we trust with our happiness and our goodname, may become traitors to their faith. The moneythat a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him perhaps when heneeds it most. A man’sreputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action.
The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us may bethe first tothrow the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one thatnever deserts him and the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog.
Gentlemen of the jury, a man’s dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in healthand in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground where the wintry winds blow and the snowdrives fiercely, if only he may be near his master’s side. He will kiss the hand that has no foodto offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of theworld. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince.
When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls topieces,he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.
If fortune drives the master forth an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, thefaithful dog asksno higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard againstdanger,to fight against his enemies, and when the last scene of all comes, and death takes themaster in its embrace and his body is laid away inthe cold ground, no matter if all other friendspursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between hispaws, his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true, evento death.

It is not difficult to imagine a world short ofambition. It would probably be a kinder world: without demands, without abrasions, withoutdisappointments. People would have time forreflection. Such work as they did would not be forthemselves but for the collectivity. Competitionwould never enter in. conflict would be eliminated, tension become a thing of the past. The stress ofcreation would be at an end. Art wouldno longer be troubling, but purely celebratory in itsfunctions. The family would become superfluous as social unit, with all its former power forbringing about neurosis drained away, Longevity would be increased, for fewer people would dieof heart attack or stroke caused by tumultuous endeavor. Anxiety would be extinct. Timewould stretch on and on, with ambition long departed from the human heart.
Ah, how unrelieved boring life would be!
There is a strong view that holds that success is a myth, and ambition therefore a sham. Doesthis mean that success does not really exist? That achievement is at bottom empty? That theefforts of men and women are of no significance alongside the force of movements and eventsnow not all success, obviously, is worthesteeming, nor all ambition worth cultivating. Which areand which are not is something one soon enough learns on one’s own. But even the mostcynical secretly admit that success exists; that achievement counts for a great deal; and thatthe true myth is that the actions of men and women are useless. To believe otherwise is to takeon a point of view that is likely to be deranging. It is, in its implications, to remove all motivesfor competence, interest in attainment, and regard for posterity.
We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents. We do not choose our historicalepoch, the country of our birth, or the immediate circumstances of our upbringing. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time or conditions of our death. But within allthis realm of choicelessness, we do choose how we shall live: courageously or in cowardice, honorably or dishonorably, with purpose or in drift. We decide what is important and what istrivial in life. We decide that what makes us significant is either what we do or what we refuseto do. But no matter how indifferent the universe may be to our choices and decisions, thesechoices and decisions are ours to make. We decide. We choose. And as we decide and choose, soare our lives formed. In the end, forming our own destiny is what ambition is about.

There are so many lessons I wish I had learned while I was young enough to appreciate and apply them. The thing with wisdom, and often with life lessons in general, is that they’re learned in retrospect, long after we needed them. The good news is that other people can benefit from our experiences and the lessons we’ve learned.
1. Money will NEVER solve your real problems
Money is a tool; a commodity that buys you necessities and some nice “wants,” but it is not the panacea to your problems. There are a great many people who are living on very little, yet have wonderfully full and happy lives… and there are sadly a great many people are living on quite a lot, yet have terribly miserable lives.
Money can buy a nice home, a great car, fabulous shoes, even a bit of security and some creature comforts, but it cannot fix a broken relationship, or cure loneliness, and the “happiness” it brings is only fleeting and not the kind that really and truly matters. Happiness is not for sale. If you’re expecting the “stuff” you can buy to “make it better,” you will never be happy.
2. Pace yourself
Often when we’re young, just beginning our adult journey we feel as though we have to do everything at once. We need to decide everything, plan out our lives, experience everything, get to the top, find true love, figure out our life’s purpose, and do it all at the same time.
Slow down—don’t rush into things. Let your life unfold. Wait a bit to see where it takes you, and take time to weigh your options. Enjoy every bite of food, take time to look around you, let the other person finish their side of the conversation. Allow yourself time to think, to mull a bit. Taking action is critical. Working towards your goals and making plans for the future is commendable and often very useful, but rushing full-speed ahead towards anything is a one-way ticket to burnout and a good way to miss your life as it passes you by.
3. You can’t please everyone
“I don’t know the secret to success, but the secret to failure is trying to please everyone” – Bill Cosby
You don’t need everyone to agree with you or even like you. It’s human nature to want to belong, to be liked, respected and valued, but not at the expense of your integrity and happiness. Other people cannot give you the validation you seek. That has to come from inside. Speak up, stick to your guns, assert yourself when you need to, demand respect, stay true to your values.
4. Your health is your most valuable asset
Health is an invaluable treasure—always appreciate, nurture, and protect it. Good health is often wasted on the young before they have a chance to appreciate it for what it’s worth. We tend to take our good health for granted, because it’s just there. We don’t have to worry about it, so we don’t really pay attention to it… until we have to. Heart disease, bone density, stroke, many cancers—the list of many largely preventable diseases is long, so take care of your health now, or you’ll regret it later on.
5. You don’t always get what you want
“Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.” – John Lennon
No matter how carefully you plan and how hard you work, sometimes things just don’t work out the way you want them to… and that’s ok. We have all of these expectations; predetermined visions of what our “ideal” life will look like, but all too often, that’s not the reality of the life we end up with. Sometimes our dreams fail and sometimes we just change our minds mid-course. Sometimes we have to flop to find the right course and sometimes we just have to try a few things before we find the right direction.
6. It’s not all about you
You are not the epicenter of the universe. It’s very difficult to view the world from a perspective outside of your own, since we are always so focused on what’s happening in our own lives. What do I have to do today? What will this mean for me, for my career, for my life? What do I want? It’s normal to be intensely aware of everything that’s going on in your own life, but you need to pay as much attention to what’s happening around you, and how things affect other people in the world as you do to your own life. It helps to keep things in perspective.
7. There’s no shame in not knowing
No one has it all figured out. Nobody has all the answers. There’s no shame in saying “I don’t know.” Pretending to be perfect doesn’t make you perfect. It just makes you neurotic to keep up the pretense of manufactured perfection. We have this idea that there is some kind of stigma or shame in admitting our limitations or uncertainly, but we can’t possibly know everything. We all make mistakes and mess up occasionally. We learn as we go, that’s life. Besides—nobody likes a know-it-all. A little vulnerability makes you human and oh so much more relatable.
8. Love is more than a feeling; it’s a choice
That burst of initial exhilaration, pulse quickening love and passion does not last long. But that doesn’t mean long-lasting love is not possible. Love is not just a feeling; it’s a choice that you make every day. We have to choose to let annoyances pass, to forgive, to be kind, to respect, to support, to be faithful. Relationships take work. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s incredibly hard, but it is up to us to choose how we want to act, think and speak in a relationship.
9. Perspective is a beautiful thing
Typically, when we’re worried or upset, it’s because we’ve lost perspective. Everything that is happening in our lives seems so big, so important, so do or die, but in the grand picture, this single hiccup often means next to nothing. The fight we’re having, the job we didn’t get, the real or imagined slight, the unexpected need to shift course, the thing we wanted, but didn’t get. Most of it won’t matter 20, 30, 40 years from now. It’s hard to see long term when all you know is short term, but unless it’s life-threatening, let it go, and move on.
10. Don’t take anything for granted
We often don’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone: that includes your health, your family and friends, your job, the money you have or think you will have tomorrow. When you’re young, it seems that your parents will always be there, but they won’t. You think you have plenty of time to get back in touch with your old friends or spend time with new ones, but you don’t. You have the money to spend, or you think you’ll have it next month, but you might not. Nothing in your life is not guaranteed to be there tomorrow, including those you love.
This is a hard life lesson to learn, but it may be the most important of all: Life can change in an instant. Make sure you appreciate what you have, while you still have it.

In a calm sea every man is a pilot.
But all sunshine without shade, all pleasure withoutpain, is not life at all.Take the lot of the happiest ,itis a tangled yarn.Bereavements and blessings, onefollowing another, make us sad and blessed by turns.Even death itself makes life more loving. Men comeclosest to their true selves in the sober moments oflife, under the shadows of sorrow and loss.
In the affairs of life or of business, it is not intellect that tells so much as character, not brainsso much as heart, not genius so much as self-control, patience, and discipline, regulatedby judgment.
I have always believed that the man who has begun to live more seriously within begins to livemore simplywithout. In an age of extravagance and waste, I wish I could show to the worldhow few the real wants of humanity are.
To regret one's errors to the point of not repeating them is true repentance. There is nothingnoble in being superior to some other man. The true nobility is in being superior to yourprevious self.

All the housewives1 who went to the new supermarket had one great ambition: to be the lucky customer who did not have to pay for her shopping. For this was what the notice just inside the entrance promised. It said: "remember, once a week, one of our customers gets free goods. This may be your lucky day!"
For several weeks Mrs. Edwards hoped, like many of her friends, to be the lucky customer.Unlike2 her friends, she never gave up hope. The cupboards in her kitchen were full of things, which she did not need. Her husband tried to advise her against buying things but failed. She dreamed of the day when the manager of the supermarket would approach her and say, "Madam, this is your lucky day. Everything in your basket is free."
On Friday morning, after she had finished her shopping and taken it to her car, she found that she had forgotten to buy any tea. She dashed3 back to the supermarket, got the tea and went towards the cash desk. As she did so, she saw the manager of the supermarket approach her. "Madam," he said, holding out his hand, "I want to congratulate you! You are our lucky customer and everything you have in your basket is free!"

A most curious and useful thing to realize is thatone never knows the impression one is creating onotherpeople. One may often guess pretty accuratelywhether it is good, bad, or indifferent — somepeople render it unnecessary for one to guess, they practically inform one — but that is not what Imean. I mean muchmore than that. I mean that onehas one's self no mental picture corresponding tothe mental picture whichone's personality leaves in the minds of one's friends. Has it everstruck you that there is a mysterious individual going around, walking the streets, calling athouses for tea, chatting, laughing, grumbling, arguing, and that all your friends know him andhave long since added him up and come to a definite conclusion about him — without sayingmore than a chance, cautious word to you; and that that person is you? Supposing that youcame into a drawing room where you were having tea, do you think you would recognizeyourself as an individuality? I think not. You would be apt to say to yourself as guests dowhen disturbed in drawing rooms by other guests: “Who's this chap? See ms rather queer. Ihope he won't be a bore.” And yourfirst telling would be slightly hostile. Why, even when youmeet yourself in an unsuspected mirror in the very clothes that you have put on that very dayand that you know by heart, you are almost always shocked by the realization that you are you.And now and then, when you have gone to the glass to arrange your hair in the full sobrietyof early morning, have you not looked on an absolute stranger, and has not that strangerpiqued your curiosity? And if it is thus with precise external details of form, colour, andmovement, what may it not be with the vague complex effect of the mental and moralindividuality?
A man honestly tries to make a good impression. What is the result? The result merely is thathis friends,in the privacy of their minds, set him down as a man who tries to make a goodimpression. If much depends on the result of a sing le interview, or a couple of interviews, aman may conceivably force another to accept an impression of himself which he would like toconvey. But if the receiver of the impression is to have time at his disposal, then the giverof the impression may just as well sit down and put his hands in his pockets, for nothing thathe can do will modify or influence in any way the impression that he will ultimately give. Thereal impress is, in the end, given unconsciously, not consciously; and further, it is receivedunconsciously, not consciously. It depends partly on both persons. And it is immutably fixedbeforehand. There can be no final deception…

ON A PLANE flying from Chicago to New York, my seat companion was a young girl who gaveme a friendly smile as I sat beside her, but whose young face showed great sadness. Hesitantly, she told me she was on her way to the funeral of her seventeen-year-old brother, who had beenkilled in Korea. She also told me that her only other relatives were two brothers, both in theservice, and that they had lost their eldest brother in the war in Europe. I wanted to saysomething to comfort her…I felt so useless…say something to comfort her…I felt souseless…All I could say was “I’m so sorry.” And I thought, “Just what can I do to help bringorder and hope into the world today?” And the thought came to me, “I can pray and my prayerswill tune in with other sincere prayers to create a mighty force for good and for peace in theworld.”
As a girl I was fortunate in having old-fashioned, religious parents, and I often think of the oldhymn my good father sang so lustily as stood beside him in church, “I need Thee every hour.”As I’ve grown older my philosophy has changed—in a way. I don’t think of God now as an oldman with a long gray beard sitting up on a throne. I believe in a practical religion. What goodis it unless I can use it to help solve my daily problems, large or small?
I am grateful for what I consider the most worthwhile things in my life—a happy marriage, agood husband, and a son and daughter who become infinite ly finer as they grow up. Successin my theatrical career has come second to these. However, no matter what my materialblessings may be, I realize that my happiness must come from within myself. I can’t get backanything I don’t give out. Anybody knows a sure cure for the blues is to get out and dosomething nice for someone else.
I have had a wonderful opportunity, on my tours with my one-woman show, to meet fine, good people in every one of the seven hundred towns I’ve played. From them I know that goodpeople predominate in every part of this country.
I love my work. I believe that laughter is a great soul cleanser, and I pray that my audiencesmay somehow be better off for having seen my show. I believe in blessing everything andeverybody along the way. Sometimes I may have let stage fright and nerves rob me and myaudience of my best performance. I have failed if I haven’t beforehand blessed everyone inmy audience, everyone backstage, and, when I’m working in television, radio or motionpictures, everyone in the studio—my fellow actors and the director and technicians. I admiretheir courage, their goodhearted generous qualities.
What do I mean by “blessing”? Well, I first have a deep sense of gratitude to an audience, and a feeling of good will and good wishes, so that I know there is complete harmony betweenthem and me, and I know they will like me because I really like them—that we will tune intogether.
My late brother, the great character actor and comedian, Charles “Chic” Sale, said to me onetime we were talking about spiritual things and about being perfect channels for expression_r: “The thing to do, kiddo, is to stay in character—be God’s child.” And I try never to forget this.

There’s a lot to take in when you’re thinking about starting a website. HTML. CSS. Templates. Metadata and analytics. Luckily, you don’t need to know how all that stuff works to get started.
All you need to know right now is the foundation of how to start a website. We can talk about fancy design tweaks and traffic boosting ideas another time, right? Maybe after you actually have a website to discuss?
These 5 straightforward steps will walk you through how to start a website without getting overloaded by all the extra options:
Step 1: Get a Domain Name
Your domain name is like the online address for your website, for example Lifehack.org, BeAFreelanceBlogger.com or Example.com. A domain name (including the part after the dot) has to be unique, so you might need to come up with a few different ideas if your favourites have already been registered for another website. Once you’ve found a unique domain name that suits you, register it for an appropriate length of time and it’s yours until the registration expires.
你的域名就像您网站的在线地址,例如Lifehack.org,BeAFreelanceBlogger.com或Example.com。
What should you choose for your domain name? That’s up to you. The most important thing to ask yourself is, “Is it memorable?”
If nobody can remember your domain name, then people aren’t likely to recommend your site by word of mouth or to find their way back to you after their first visit. So make your domain name clear, meaningful and easy to spell!
Step 2: Get Web Hosting
If a domain name is like the address of your website, then a web host is like a landlord who rents you the space at that address. The only difference is that you get to choose your web host independently of your domain name. Traditionally, you can’t choose an apartment and then choose your landlord, but with domain names and web hosts that’s exactly how it works.
There are a lot of different web hosts to choose from, so do a little bit of due diligence to choose a reputable host with a package that’s a good match to your needs. Follow their instructions to update the domain name system to your new nameservers.
Step 3: Build an Empty Site
WordPress is one of the most popular solutions for building your own website without having to learn a lot of code. You can install it on your website pretty easily and if you want to make it even easier, choose a web host that gives you a “one-click installation” tool for WordPress.
Once that’s installed, you can choose a theme to set the design foundations of your website, and customise elements of the theme to change specific features of your web design. This is when you have to start making choices about how you want your site to look: is it image focused or more based on writing? Is it colourful or monochrome?
Step 4: Add Content
You can add almost anything to your website, with as many or as few pages as you want. What’s going to work best to get your message across: text, images, audio, video? You might want to look into WordPress plugins and widgets that help you display everything just the way you want it.
Step 5: Test Everything
Once you’ve published your content, go back over it and check every page, every post and every hyperlink for screw-ups. Tidy up anything that isn’t working right and then do it all over again using a different web browser. Repeat these steps until you’re pretty sure you caught any major problems.
That’s it, you’re done. Your website is live on the internet, and it works!

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain!
I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, or to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn’t interest me if the story you’re telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. I want to know if you can be faithful and therefore be trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it is not pretty every day, and if you can source your life from god’s presence. I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of a lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes!”
It doesn’t interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after a night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done for the children.
It doesn’t interest me who you are, how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.
It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself, and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

It’s inevitable in life that those that we work with, live with and play with will, at some point in time or another become sick or be involved in an accident. We can all stand and stare at the racks and racks of get well cards in dollar stores, drug stores, department and card stores until we go cross-eyed and end up buying some silly card that we regret buying the moment we leave the store. However, it is much more personal, more from the heart, and much more meaningful to the recipient when we create our own get well cards for those that we care for.
Creating an encouraging get well card can, at times, be an overwhelming task and cause a few more gray hairs. Fretting over the exact phraseology of the contents, we can overthink the content and in doing so we can make it even tackier than the average store-bought get well card. The easiest thing to do in preparing the prose for the card is to sit down and make a short list of the characteristics that you like the best about the patient. You want to include what you think of them, in an “I don’t know what to say, but I love you and wish you a speedy return to your normal, wonderful self” type of start to your personalized get well card.
The one thing that makes a get well card encouraging is to point out things that the patient has to look forward to when they get better. Do they have children, a spouse or a great career? Have they recently bought a nice house, cottage, car or boat that they are particularly proud of? Do they enjoy camping, shopping, travel or parties? Figure out the things that they would look forward to the most when they got better and make those the main focus of your encouraging get well card.
If you don’t know the extent of the not-so-well person’s religious beliefs, it is usually best to forego a religious tone in writing your own content for an encouraging get well card. But if they are religious then adding something from their religious beliefs in your message could have a great impact on the patient.
Once you have your list of things that the patient has to look forward to and the most important parts of their lives, all you have to do is put it all in into your own words, and then find the perfect picture(s) for the cover art and the inside fold’s background, or ghost picture. Write personal notes over top of the ghost picture on the inside fold, and type an encouraging note on the outside of the card surrounding the picture, or running alongside or under it.
The perfect pictures to put in your encouraging get well card are usually those of earlier and happier times, with their new family or the one they were born into. When that is not a viable option, try pictures of their pets, their favourite scenic sites, favourite places to visit and people that they hang out with.
After pouring over so many racks of greeting cards over your lifetime, try to stay away from the tacky messages and personal jokes that are so prevalent in them when writing content for an encouraging get well card. The best starting message is one that lets the patient know how much you care for them, and how you look forward to doing your favourite things that you do together with them again once they recover.
The most important aspect of making your own encouraging get well card is that it comes from you, from your heart, with a personal message and pictures that remind the patient of times to look forward to or times to reflect upon. The picture(s) that you select to print on your personalized card should be ones that do pretty much the same thing as the message, and since a picture is worth a thousand words your card becomes a novel as opposed to a novelty.
Use a good, heavy stock paper when printing the final version of your encouraging get well card, so that it will be able to stand up on a table. Add a few of the patient’s favourite flowers to liven up the atmosphere of the hospital room and bring a new and pleasant odour into their depressing situation. Nobody wants to be in the hospital, but once there having people bring them personalized and encouraging get well cards and a small bouquet of flowers will make them feel a lot better, even if just for a little while.

The silence of men in general is overtalked about and overcriticized. To be sure, men never open up as much as women want them to, but there is a wordless understanding in which we function fairly well especially in friendships.
I believe, in fact, that most women would prefer a man to be glumlyuncommunicative than to [1] spill his guts at the drop of a hat.
The push for men to express their feelings presumes that we have feelings, and we do have a few, but they remain submerged, and the [2] airing of them often violates their authenticity.
I am no biologist, but my guess is that the male human animal was programmed for silence. I would go so far as to argue that men were programmed to be isolated from one another and that aloneness is our natural state. Silence in male friendships is our way of being alone with each other.
Once men have established a friendship, that itself is the word. The affection is obvious, at least to us. A main component of our silence is an appreciation of the obvious.
“ At the drop of a hat”是“突然”的意思。在这里,“spill his guts at the drop of a hat”指一个人藏不住心里的话,经常不经觉地就把许多话告诉别人。

The lack of opportunity is ever the excuse of aweak, vacillating mind. Opportunities! Every life isfull of them. Every lesson in school or college is anopportunity. Every examination is a chance in life.Every businesstransaction is an opportunity-anopportunity to be polite, an opportunity to bemanly, an opprtunity to behonest, an opprtunity tomake friends. Every proof of confidence in you is agreat opportunity. Every responsibility thrust upon your strength and your honor is priceless.Existence is the privilege of effort, andwhen that privilege is met like a man, opportunities tosucceed along the line of your aptitude will come faster than you can use them.
Young men and women, why do you stand here all the day idle? Was the land all occupiedbefore you were born?Has the earth ceased to yield its increase? Are the seats all taken? Thepositions all filled? the chances all gone? are the resources of your country fully developed? Arethe secrets of nature all mastered? Isthere no way in which you can utilize these passingmoments to improve yourself or benefit another? Don't wait for your opportunity. Make it,make it as Napoleon made his in a hundred "impossible" situations. Make it, as all leaders ofmen , in war and in peace, have made their chaces of success. Make it, as every man must, whowould accomplish anything worth the effort. Glolden opportunities are nothing to laziness, butindustry makes the commmonest chances golden.
