It is widely noted that lots of traditional culture is disappearing along with the development of technology. Many ancient architectures and traditional ways of living have been deserted. It seems that the traditional culture and craftsmanship will be replaced in this modern era.
The following reasons can account for the above phenomenon. Firstly, traditional technologies are always considered ineffective while the new sciences are always highly efficient, because modern science and technology facilitate both our daily and academic life a lot, with which we can save much money and time. Secondly, it is costly to protect the traditional culture, especially the maintenance and repair of the historical buildings.
In my opinion, although traditional culture is an ancient heritage, it couldn't keep pace with the development of society. It is the tide of history that the traditional culture and technology will no doubt be eliminated in the end.

I'll explain in a second, I'm a long-time admirer of Mark Bittman, the food journalist who recently left The New York Times. So when Bittman announced he was leaving journalism to work for a meal kit startup, I was sad. I would miss him. But the other day when I read the "first installment" of his entrepreneurial journey in Fast Company, my sadness turned to anger.
It's true that Bittman admitted that starting a company is "harder than I thought." (No kidding.) But, even though his new venture has a wonderful mission ("encouraging part-time veganism, supporting sustainable agriculture and, in general, helping build the good food movement"), Bittman is ambivalent about entrepreneurship.
As a long-time entrepreneur, I get very cranky when someone suggests that creating and building a business is anything less than a noble endeavor. Even if you're making widgets, you're still adding economic and social value. And if you've got higher aspirations (my firm helps our clients reach, engage and motivate employees), all the better.
Here are the 7 reasons entrepreneurs are awesome. We:

These days, different ways are being taken toprotect cultural identity. Obviously, not only ismuch contribution made to maintain old houses butalso rules of laws associated with cultural protectionare changed for the better. Some people even saythat new buildings are right to be set up in theconventionalway. I seem to be one of opponentswho believe that the action can be unsuitable in ourworld.
One of the main reasons is that most of traditional buildings, in my nation, that offerprovide few rooms can hardly hard to meet the demands for housing as increasing numbers ofpeople pour into the city. Compared to before, today's population has doubled and eventrebled, which puts seriouspressure on housing supply. As a result, new buildings must besubstituted for old ones that have more efficient utility, even for some old buildings that havebeen damaged seriously.
No doubts that building or maintaining traditional buildings is very essential to raise artsense and increase choices of people's housing. Plus, these old houses are believed as veryimportant resources to attract international visitors. However, the proportionof traditionalhouses has to be under control, and otherwise the housing of citizens is badly affected.
Overall, my view is that cultural identity is so preciousthat more efforts and measuresshould be taken but carefully. The excellent tradition helps with deep understanding of history, and educates youths. Nevertheless a simple and recklessbehavior. that new buildings are built ina typical way does more harm than good in the improvement of people's being.

An American friend has invited you to visit his family. You've never been to an American's home before, and you're not sure what to do.Should you take a gift? How should you dress? What time should you arrive? What should you do when you get there? Glad you asked. When you're the guest, you should just make yourself at home. That's what hospitality is all about: making people feel at home when they're not.
The question of whether or not to bring a gift often makes guests squirm. Giving your host a gift is not just a social nicety in some cultures-it's expected. But in American culture , a guest is not obligated to bring a present, Of course, some people do bring a small token of appreciation to their host. Appropriate gifts for general occasions might be flowers, candy or-if the family has small children'toys. If you choose not to bring a gift, don't worry. No one will even notice.
American hospitality begins at home-especially when it involves food. Most Americans agree that good home cooking beats restaurant food any day. When invited for a meal, you might ask, "Can I bring anything?"Unless it's. a potluck, where everyone brings a_dish, the host will probably respond, "No,just yourself." For most informal dinners, you should wear comfortable, casual clothes. Plan to arrive on time, or else call to inform your hosts of the delay. During the dinner conversation:it's customary to compliment the hostess on the wonderful meal. Of course, the biggest compliment is to eat lots of food!
When you've had plenty, you might offer to clear the table or wash the dishes. But since you're the guest, your hosts may not let you. Instead, they may invite everyone to move to the living room for dessert with tea or coffee. After an hour or so of general chitchat, it's probably time to head for the door. You don't want to wear out your welcome. And above all, don't go snooping around the house. It's more polite to wait for the host to offer you a guided tour. But except for housewarmings, guests often don't get past the living room.
Americans usually like to have advance notice when people come to see them. Only very close friends drop by unannounced. This is especially true if the guests want to stay for a few days. Here's a good ruleof thumb for house guests: Short stays are best. As one 19th century French writer put it, "The first day a man is a guest, the second a burden, the third a pest." Even relatives don't usually stay for several weeks at a time. While you're staying with an Amencan family, try to keep your living area neat and tidy. Your host family will appreciate your consideration. And they may even invite you back!
Most Americans consider themselves hospitable people. Folks in the southem United States, m particular, take pride in entertaining guests. In fact, southern hospitality" has become legendary. But in all parts of America, people welcome their guests with open arms. So don't be surprised to find the welcome mat out for you. Just don't forget to wipe your feet.

Since A.A. Milne published the first official Winnie The Pooh story in 1926, the character has become beloved by children across many generations.
But why is Winnie called a Pooh rather than a bear? Given that most children (and grown-ups, for that matter) have a different idea of what a Pooh is, how has the name stuck?
The answer lies back in the 1920s.
In fact, when first introduced by Milne, Winnie wasn’t even Winnie. Initially, he went by the name of Edward Bear, before changing to Winnie in time for that aforementioned official 1926 debut. The "Winnie" part of the name came from a visit to the London Zoo, where Milne saw a black bear who had been named after the city of Winnipeg, Canada.
As for Pooh? Well, originally Pooh was a swan, a different character entirely.
In the book When We Were Very Young (the same book that introduced Edward Bear), Milne wrote a poem, telling how Christopher Robin would feed the swan in the mornings.
He told how Christopher Robin had given the swan the name "Pooh," explaining that “this is a very fine name for a swan, because if you call him and he doesn’t come (which is a thing swans are good at), then you can pretend that you were just saying ‘Pooh!’ to show him how little you wanted him."
The names "Winnie" and "Pooh" were soon brought together, and Winnie the Pooh was born. Milne still took a little time out to explain why Winnie was a Pooh, though.
As he would write in the first chapter of the first Winnie the Pooh book, “But his arms were so stiff ... they stayed up straight in the air for more than a week, and whenever a fly came and settled on his nose he had to blow it off. And I think—but I am not sure—that that is why he is always called Pooh."

You may think it's easy to communicate when you're visiting another English-speaking country, but think again! Certain words mean something entirely different on the other side of the world. Read on to see which eight words could cause you embarrassment across the pond or down under.
1PantsBe careful who you tell in the U.K. that you have to go pants shopping—across the pond, "pants" means "underwear." When you're talking about jeans and khakis, you should call them "trousers."
Avoid Using In: The U.K., Ireland
2FannyOwn a fanny pack? In most other English-speaking countries, they're called "bum bags" because "fanny" is slang for a part of the female anatomy (and no, we're not talking about the rear end). So don't tell someone to stop being lazy and get off their fanny, either!
Avoid Using In: The U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa
3PissedIn America, we may get "pissed off" when we're angry, but the Brits and Irish who are "pissed" are extremely intoxicated. "Taking the piss," however, means "to make fun of," not "to get drunk."
Avoid Using In: The U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand
4BangsPrepare for weird looks if you're bragging about your new "bangs" in England. A forehead-covering haircut over there is referred to as a "fringe" instead. Overseas, "bangs" is more commonly used as the somewhat vulgar slang that it is interchangeable with in America.

5KnobAmericans hear the word "knob" and think "doorknob" or "lever." It has a much dirtier meaning in other countries, like Australia and the U.K., where it's an insult or slang for a part of the male anatomy. Now you'll know to be offended if someone calls you a "knob head."
Avoid Using In: The U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa

6RootAmericans may "root around" looking for a lost object, but Australians and New Zealanders use the term to refer to having sex.
Avoid Using In: Australia, New Zealand

7PullIf someone "pulled" last night in the U.K., they're probably not talking about pulling a muscle or drawing something apart. It's commonly used as slang for successfully picking up someone while out on the town. Likewise, "going on the pull" means that someone is going out with the express goal of getting some action.

8BuggerIf you affectionately call your child or pet "little bugger," you might want to reconsider doing so in pretty much any other English-speaking country. In most other places, from Canada to Australia, it is commonly used as an expletive similar to the f-word.

Q: What facts about the United States do foreigners not believe until they come to America?
Everyone is highly private about their accomplishments and failures. Someone's performance in any field is their performance alone. This is different compared to India where people flaunt their riches and share their accomplishments with everybody else.
Rich people are thin/ well maintained, poor people are fat. This stems from the fact that cheap food is fatty, rich people don't eat cheap food — they tend to eat either home-cooked food which is expensive or eat at expensive / healthy places. Unfortunately, it is expensive to be healthy in America.
Fat people are not respected much in society. Being fat often has the sameconnotations as being irresponsible towards your body. If you're thin (and tall, but not as much), people will respect you a lot more and treat you better. You will also receive better customer service if you're well maintained. This extends my previous point which mentioned that if you're thin, you're statistically likely to be rich. Reason why I know this is that I went down from being 210lbs to 148-150lbs. The way people started treating me when I was thin was generally way better than the way I was treated when I was fat. As a small example, the Starbucks baristas were much nicer to me and made me drinks with more care.
Almost every single person in America has access to basic food, clothing, water and sanitation. I haven't been to states like Louisiana and cities like Detroit, but from what I can tell, nobody is scrambling for the basic necessities required for sustenance.
Americans waste a lot of food. It is very easy to buy in bulk because it's so much cheaper and as a result a lot of wastage occurs.
Obsession with coffee — Starbucks, Dunkin' etc is crowded with office-goers and students every morning. I don't understand why they can't drink or make coffee before leaving for work. Such a waste of money! ($5/day * 5days / week * 52weeks/year)!
Support towards the LGBT community — it's fairly normal to be part of the LGBT community; it's not considered a mortal sin if you like someone in your own gender or if you aren't comfortable being male/female/etc. Proof of this is the LGBT Pride Day held in every city.

Different people might choose to visit different places due to their different places of birth, family conditions, relevant experiences, and even different levels of education. People who wereborn in New York are less likely to be interested in New York any more for the simple reasonthat everything is just too familiar already. Children from less well-off families might find itdifficult to afford a visit to a faraway place. Those who have been working in Tokyo for years aresurely looking forward to touring around places out of town. Places with numerous sites ofhistorical interest may not be so appealing to people with only a primary school education.Things are just like this in our real life. With all aspects considered, the most desirable placethat I can think of going to at present is Xi'an in China for the simple reason that I have neverbeen yet.
Firstly, I would like to visit places where I have never been to. Xi'an, as a famous city withprofound historical and cultural significance in China, enjoys a history that can be dated backto several thousand years ago. From the first dynasty when China became a unified country, namely the Qin Dynasty, this place was the capital of successive dynasties, thus it has many asite of historical and cultural heritage. As the saying goes: If you want to acquire a sense ofhistory about China, visit Xi'an. A visit to these heritages, I am sure, will let me learn aboutwhat China was like in the past and how people lived at ancient times. I've long heard of thefamous Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses of the First Emperor—Qin Shihuang, and have seenrelevant pictures of it: really grand and exquisite, next to none in the world. However, I havenever seen it on site with my own eyes, which could be a kind of regret. Therefore, I want tohave this dream of mine realized at the earliest possible time.
Secondly, I would like to try the local delicacies of Xi'an. I was long told about the uniqueflavor of the local cuisine there, which is so different from the food cooked in my hometown. Moreover, many people who were back from Xi'an are commenting so much favorably on thefood there and are actually making no effort to hide their liking of certain dishes, giving me theimpression that it would be a regret-whole-life thing if one does not try them in person. So onand so forth, this makes another reason which urges me to go to Xi'an for a visit.
Of course, there are countless places that I have never been to, both at home and abroad:Sichuan, Chongqing, Xijiang, Tibet, Paris, Berlin, to name just a few. I know to the best of myknowledge that they all have their distinct features which hold so much attraction to me and Iwill definitely visit all of them when conditions allow. However, for the time being, I just want togo to Xi'an.
Above are two main reasons for me to have decided to visit Xi'an. Whatever others may think, for me alone, they do make sense.

Tourism can create jobs and other opportunitiesfor almost all communities. Therefore, Governmentsworldwide have worked out many incentives aimed atdeveloping overseas market. Personally I believe, tension is always accompanied with influxes of foreign visitors, which has alreadyovershadowed understanding achieved via travel.
Let me start by talking about the tension brought by international tourism. LastIndependence Day Festival , I , followed by a couple of friends, traveled to a small countylocated in Bolivia. Surprisingly we happened to see thousands of people singing and dancing onthe street. Three guys dressing in local costume swayed badly towards us, bringing drinkingbeer for us. Owing to our arrival in a totally new place, we declined to take any alcohol in caseof being entrapped. Unexpectedly quarrels occurred as a consequence of language barrier. What’s worse, one of them spitted on us, whose behavior turned our journey to be a trip ofhumiliation and resentment. As a matter of fact, the local residents were celebrating yearlyBeer Festival. Our refusal was regarded as a bad manner to look down upon them. For thisreason, I would infer that international tourists usually spend only one or two days staying inthe same place. It is impossible for them to thoroughly have a good knowledge of the localculture. Consequently misconception and disputes happen frequently between peoplesembodied with varied culture backgrounds.
Now let me turn to the discussion of understanding gained on the tour. Generally a westerntourist is fond of visiting different places with exploring different customs, particularly thoseprimitive cultures in remote mountainous areas. Such an exploration can expose himselfwith more opportunities of communicating with local people, which might be considered as agood way to better understand the local culture. However, different interpretation andreligion eventually would probably lead him to conclude that those odd traditions handeddown generation by generation in the destined region are no more than a superstitious belief.Such understanding does little good to maintain sound relationship between nations.
All in all, global travel should be discouraged until understanding amid peoplesoverwhelmingly outweighs negative effects like tension.
