Stand out in a crowded inbox',event)">inbox by using clues.Busy as businesspeople are, they cannot afford to think too long about every decision they have to make. They often make fairly automatic decisions based on past experience or just one written clue that is presented to them. It starts with simple things like the subject header of your mail: it should convey opportunity and benefit to the reader rather than effort and goodwill from him. For example, when you write an email to solicit participation in a benchmarking exercise, the heading “Study” may evoke more dreadful associations than “How to improve performance.” More profoundly, make yourself likeable to your reader, for example, by referring to shared interests or flattering him. Of course you’re walking a fine line: you don’t want to mislead, deceive or manipulate your readers; you simply want to convince, persuade and facilitate.

Do not include salary requirements.(不要把你对薪水的要求写进去。)
I expect a salary commensurate with my experience and the job's demands.

Teaching is a special calling. It is not a job well-suited to everyone. In fact, many new teachers leave within the first 3-5 years of teaching. However, there are many rewards that come with this oft maligned career. Here are my top ten reasons why teaching can be a great profession.
1.Student Potential
Unfortunately, not every student will succeed in your class. However, this fact should not keep you from believing that every student has the potential for success. This potential is so exciting - each new year presents new challenges and new potential successes.
2.Student Successes
Closely related to the previous pick, student success is what drives teachers to continue. Each student who didn't understand a concept and then learned it through your help can be exhilarating. And when you actually reach that student that others have written off as being unteachable, this can truly be worth all the headaches that do come with the job.
3.Teaching a Subject Helps You Learn a Subject
You will never learn a topic better than when you start teaching it. I remember my first year teaching AP Government. I had taken Political Science courses in college and thought I knew what I was doing. However, the student questions just made me dig deeper and learn more. There is an old adage that it takes three years of teaching to truly master a subject and in my experience this is the truth.
4.Daily Humor
If you have a positive attitude and a sense of humor, you will find things to laugh about each day. Sometimes it will be silly jokes you will make up as you teach that might get a laugh from your students. Sometimes it will be jokes that kids share with you. And sometimes students will come out with the funniest statements without realizing what they've said. Find the fun and enjoy it!
5.Affecting the Future
Yes it might be trite, but it is true. Teachers mold the future each day in class. In fact, it is a sad fact that you will see some of these students more consistently day-to-day than their parents will.
6.Staying Younger
Being around young people everyday will help you remain knowledgeable about current trends and ideas. It also helps break down barriers.
7.Autonomy in the Classroom
Once a teacher closes that door each day and begins teaching, they really are the ones who decide what's going to happen. Not many jobs provide an individual with so much room to be creative and autonomous each day.
8.Conducive to Family Life
If you have children, the school calendar will typically allow you to have the same days off as your kids. Further, while you might bring work home with you to grade, you will probably be getting home close to the same time as your children.
9.Job Security
In many communities, teachers are a scarce commodity. It is fairly certain that you will be able to find a job as a teacher, though you might have to wait until the start of a new school year and be willing to travel within your county/school district. While requirements might be different from state to state, once you have proven yourself a successful teacher, it is relatively easy to move around and find a new job.
10.Summers Off
Unless you work in a district that has a year round education system, you will have a couple of months off in the summer where you can choose to get another job, teach summer school, or just relax and vacation. Further, you typically get two weeks off during Christmas/Winter Holidays and one week for Spring Break which can really be a huge benefit and provide much needed rest time.

Police begin to arrest 'runaway bosses' : Police have begun arresting entrepreneurs who have gone into hiding to avoid repaying bank and informal high-interest loans.
类似的说法还有runaway child(出走的孩子)、runaway horse(脱缰之马)。

1) Have A Solid Daily Ritual
STEP 1 (5 Minutes): Your Morning Minutes. This is your opportunity to plan ahead. Beforeturning on your computer, sit down with the to-do list you created…and decide what will makethis day highly successful…
STEP 2 (1 Minute Every Hour): Refocus. …Set your watch, phone, or computer to ring everyhour and start the work that’s listed on your calendar. When you hear the beep, take a deepbreath and ask yourself if you spent your last hour productively. Then look at your calendarand deliberately recommit to how you are going to use the next hour. Manage your day hourby hour. Don’t let the hours manage you.
STEP 3 (5 Minutes): Your Evening Minutes. At the end of your day, shut off your computer andreview how the day went, asking yourself… questions like: How did the day go? What did I learnabout myself? Is there anyone I need to update? Shoot off a couple of emails or calls to makesure you’ve communicated with the people you need to contact.
2) Make Things Automatic
The secret to getting more done is to make things automatic. Decisons exhaust you: Thecounterintuitive secret to getting things done is to make them more automatic, so they requireless energy.
It turns out we each have one reservoir of will and discipline, and it gets progressivelydepleted by any act of conscious self-regulation. In other words, if you spend energy tryingto resist a fragrant chocolate chip cookie, you’ll have less energy left over to solve a difficultproblem. Will and discipline decline inexorably as the day wears on.
Build routines and habits so that you’re not deciding, you’re just doing. When you first learn todrive it’s 1000 activities like steering, shifting, checking mirrors, braking — but with practiceyou turned it into autopilot and it’s no stress at all.
3) Checklists are magic
Be specific and make sure to include a time estimate for all tasks. A well-maintained list is anessential tool for staying grounded, for saving your energy and for doing things rather thantrying to remember what to do.
Effective to-do lists are limited to specific tasks that can be tackled right away and finishedfairly soon. Instead of listing solve client issue, spend one hour defining the scope of clientproblem.
A list should reflect a time estimate needed for each task. And it should be integrated into acalendar or schedule, to avoid planning 17 things for tomorrow which, if you added them up,are going to take 20 hours.
4) Beat Procrastination
A big part of procrastination is dread. The task seems terrible and overwhelming. Andthat’s the first issue that needs attacking: those feelings.
By breaking the problem down into smaller chunks — even comically small ones that require only1 minute of activity — and doing just that one little thing, you prove to yourself the task isn’tinsurmountable.
The most motivating thing in the world is progress. Any trivial progress can motivate andboost positive emotions that will help build a productive momentum.
So this sounds good in theory but you’re probably thinking: what’s that first step and won’tthat be horribly, horribly painful? For any procrastinated task, first thing is to take one minuteand just write down the steps you need to do to finish the task.
This should be enough to kill negative emotions, build some momentum and get you going.

Our character, basically, is a composite of our habits. “Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny,” the maxim goes.
Habits are powerful factors in our lives. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character and produce our effectiveness or ineffectiveness.
As Horace Mann, the great educator, once said, “Habits are like a cable. We weave a strand of it everyday and soon it cannot be broken.” I personally do not agree with the last part of his expression. I know habits can be learned and unlearned. But I also know it isn't a quick fix. It involves a process and a tremendous commitment.
Those of us who watched the lunar voyage of Apollo 11 were transfixed as we saw the first men walk on the moon and return to earth. But to get there, those astronauts literally had to break out of the tremendous gravity pull of the earth. More energy was spent in the first few minutes of lift, in the first few miles of travel, than was used over the next several days to travel half a million miles.
Habits, too, have tremendous gravity pull more than most people realize or would admit. Breaking deeply imbedded habitual tendencies such as procrastination, impatience, criticalness, or selfishness that violate basic principles of human effectiveness involves more than a little willpower and a few minor changes in our lives. “Lift off” takes a tremendous effort, but once we break out of the gravity pull, our freedom takes on a whole new dimension.
Like any natural force, gravity pull can work with us or against us. The gravity pull of some of our habits may currently be keeping us from going where we want to go. But it is also gravity pull that keeps our world together, that keeps the planets in their orbits and our universe in order. It is a powerful force, and if we use it effectively, we can use the gravity pull of habit to create the cohesiveness and order necessary to establish effectiveness in our lives.

ARNOLD: The way it is now, the staff from all four branches get together once a week.
We meet for one hour. But I think a lot of time is wasted in transportation.
MR. RAMIREZ: You mean because people have to go across town to get here.
ARNOLD: Yes. Some people spend half of the morning on the road.
MR. RAMIREZ: That's true. But our staff meetings are very important, Arnold.
I don't know how we can function without them.
ARNOLD: I think they are important too.
That's why I want people to have a better attitude about them.
MR. RAMIREZ: I know a lot of people think the meetings aren't too useful.
I'm aware of that.
ARNOLD: Here's what I propose.
I think we should meet once every two weeks, but meet for ninety minutes or more.
MR. RAMIREZ: Well.
ARNOLD: I also think the meetings should be more focused.
And I would be willing to take responsibility for that.
MR. RAMIREZ: You mean you want to run the meetings?
ARNOLD: No, not really run them. But I could help organize them.
I could discuss meeting topics with you, and then prepare a schedule for each meeting.
I could then send an e-mail to all the staff to explain the coming meeting.
This way the meetings would become more focused, and people would prepare better.
MR. RAMIREZ: Hmm. But we would meet every two weeks.
ARNOLD: I really think it would work.
The meetings could be longer, and better organized.
MR. RAMIREZ: I am not against the idea, Arnold.
It may really be more efficient, as you say. I'll tell you what we can do.
Why don't we try your proposal for a month, and see how it works.
ARNOLD: Excellent. I would be happy to get started on it.
MR. RAMIREZ: I will call the managers.
Then tomorrow I'll tell you when we can schedule our first meeting in this “new style.”
