[1]Being considered a leader in our society is theultimate『最高的;极至的』compliment. "Leadershiphas become the universal vitamin C pill," sayspsychologist David Campbell of the Center forCreative Leadership in Colorado Springs, Colo. "People seem to want megadoses『大剂量』."
[2] No wonder. Leadership bestows 『把… 给予』 power, commands 『赢得;博得』respect and, most important, fosters 『促进;培养』 achievement. Unlike vitamins, though, leadership skills can't be easily gulped 『吞食;吞服』 down. They must be carefully cultivated『培养;磨炼』 .
[3] Contrary to popular belief, most good leaders are made, not born. They hone 『磨练』their skills in their everyday lives. But which do they cultivate? How do they (and how can you)get others to follow?
[4] Always give credit. Many leaders note that the most efficient way to get a goodperformance from others is to treat them like heroes. Giving public credit to someone whohas earned it is the best leadership technique in the world. It is also an act of generositythat's never forgotten.
[5] Giving credit is more effective than even the most constructive criticism, which oftenhurts rather than helps. Kenneth Blanchard, co-author of The One-Minute Manager, agrees. "Catch people doing something right!" he says. Then tell everyone about it. The loyalty you willgenerate 『产生;导致』 is arguably the most important currency a leader has.
[6] Take informed risks. "The best leaders know that taking a risk is not a thoughtlessexercise," says management consultant Marilyn Machlowitz. "Sky divers don't go up in anairplane without checking the parachutes 『降落伞』 beforehand."
[7] Because the idea of risk also carries with it the possibility of failure, many of us tend to waitfor others to take charge. But if you want to be a leader, you must learn to fail-and not die athousand deaths. Pick yourself up and start all over again.
[8] Show the way. In 1965, Lee Ducat was a Philadelphia homemaker with a child who had justbeen found to have diabetes 『糖尿病』 . Ducat tried to reach out to other mothers of diabetickids, but at first no one wanted to talk.
[9] Finally Ducat managed to find three othermothers willing to share their experience, and fromthat beginning she went on to found and lead theJuvenile Diabetes foundation, which currently has150 chapters worldwide. Ducat also formed and nowheads the National disease Research Interchange, which procures human tissues for vital research. LeeDucat's secret? Being a role model.
[10] "Have you ever noticed that if you smile at people, they smile back?" she asks. "Well, ifyou're giving, people want to give right back. If you're sure-footed, they want to follow in yourfootsteps. If you're confident about reaching a goal, others echo that confidence and try toachieve it for you."
[11] "The best thing you can do is to get followers to mirror your actions by being what youwish them to be."
[12] Keep the faith. Successful leaders often say that if you trust others to do well, they will. If,on the other hand, you believe your people will fail, they will probably meet your expectations aswell. Businessman-philanthropist W. Clement Stone suggests that you express your faith in aletter. He says the executive who writes of faith in and commitment to his salespeople canmotivate them to break records; the teacher who writes individual notes of encouragement tostudents can lead them to extraordinary heights. Having faith in someone gives him self-confidence and pleasure. It may sound corny 『老一套的』 , but the experts agree it works.
[13] Get a compass. People don't follow leaders who lack direction. Estee Lauder, founder ofthe cosmetics company, has led thousands of employees to great success. She claims thatevery business leader she knows puts a clear picture of what he wants to achieve in his mindand stays focused on the picture. "People want to follow those who promise-and deliver-success," she says.
[14] Act the part. Good leaders have learned to sound and look like winners. They maysometimes doubt themselves, but they don't show it, says management consultant Paula Bern. They act as if they know where they're going.
[15] Leaders also know that appearance and manners count. They are usually pleasant to bewith; their speech is polished 『变得优雅』 , their demeanor 『行为』 unruffled 『沉着的』 andassured.
[16] Be competent. Knowledge is power, the saying goes, and the best leaders know that theirsavvy 『智慧』 and proficiency are part of their charisma 『魅力』 . Competence galvanizes『激起;使振奋』 people, and will make them look to you for guidance and direction.

1. I don’t have enough capital
Many entrepreneurs start their journey to success even before they are ready to embrace the positive reactions they will receive. They know that what is important is taking action rather than sitting or waiting. A great idea and the right motivation push you to find and discover what will come out of your venture. You will never hear a successful entrepreneur say he doesn’t have the money to start out. Actually having enough capital sometimes could force you to be less creative and even nonchalant on what should be done right.
2. I have to wait until…
This sounds boring. Being a successful entrepreneur is not about waiting or taking chances. It is an independent task and along the lines you have to accept responsibility for your destination and take charge of the situation. Most times those excuses you make are just a reason not to fulfill what you really want to go after. Successful entrepreneurs don’t procrastinate. They go after what they want because they know there will never be a perfect time to start what they want and to pursue their dreams. They know that the perfect time to start is now.
3. What if I fail?
Well what if you fail? Staying and waiting in the comfort zone of mediocrity and security is not an exact fit for an entrepreneur! They know the importance of taking chances and pursuing goals. Actually there is more thrill in the journey rather than in the rewards whether it is failure or success. Successful entrepreneurs love to take risk and try new things. They want to test waters first. With failure comes learning and experience. And this is vital to becoming the success they will certainly be.
4. I am too old to start
Why this excuse is so terrible is that it doesn’t paint the real picture of those who started out late and still became success stories. Colonel Sanders started his journey to become the success story of KFC at age 60. Mary Kay started her success story to becoming the cosmetic giant of Mary Kay at age 45. This excuse can be so terrible because being late comes with its advantages. You have to be more creative, think faster and act better. Being late means working hard and going after your dreams with everything you have got. Because when you are late you have almost nothing to lose.
5. I don’t know the right people
Well this excuse will never be heard from a successful entrepreneur who was nurtured and grew into a digital age. No one started out knowing the right people. You had to start first and get noticed by the right people. If you sit down waiting for the right people to flock to you, you will never get started. Get on social media. There is Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Attend conferences, reach out and gain knowledge by attending seminars and workshops. Somewhere in between if you have the right energy and fire to keep on going, you will meet the right people.

5 Important Elements Of Success People Seldom Mention
You might be expecting me to write something basic about patience, integrity, humility, honesty, discipline, and other qualities that might make up a successful person. If you’re looking for an article like that, you’ll find them everywhere. This article is different. It’s not meant to talk about one word or one quality of successful people in a generic sense and re-define what those things mean for you. This articles purpose is to help you re-define what your personal success is and how you define yourself.
There are elements of success people seldom mention, and sometimes those things have nothing to do with the present or the individual. Below, feel free to read about those five elements.
1. Your job isn’t your success.
You are your success, and what you’re successful in will vary. It doesn’t have to be your job. It could be your family, it could be your volunteer work, or your community service. Success is multi-faceted. In addition, your job may not be a direct reflection of you, your greatest strengths, or the best use of your time. Your job might not enable you to contribute to the world in a way you would like, yet so many people define themselves by their jobs, or their next big promotion. Success is a lifestyle and an attitude.
2. Failure is going to happen to you. Just because you fail at something, doesn’t mean you are a failure.
I’ve only failed one class in my life: geometry. I did my best, and I tried hard, enrolling in tutoring and after school classes to help boost my grade. Failing, I thought, would be unacceptable and earth-shattering. I thought I’d be too embarrassed to ever be able to discuss it, l and yet here I am. Do you know what I learned? I learned it wasn’t the end of the world. I learned what I wasn’t good at. I learned where I was weak and I used those insights to make myself stronger and better educated about myself.
3. People will always see your successes. They may never know about your sacrifices.
There will always be people who think you had it easy. There were always be people who identify with you and think you had it rough. They are both wrong, and the answer is usually somewhere in the middle and defined by the individual. The truth of the matter is, no one else is going to really know how much you had to give up or overcome to get to where you are. It’s easy to think being successful is easy when the version of you people are seeing is the person who made it through the storm.
4. There are people who aren’t going to think you’re successful, no matter what you think of yourself or how you feel.
Ignore people like this. They are usually miserable themselves. There will always be people who like to gossip or speak poorly of someone else trying to get by and follow their dreams. People will tell you your goals are stupid, your dreams are unrealistic, and the money won’t follow. Sometimes they are right, and sometimes they are wrong. The only thing that matters is that you don’t base your final choices off of them.
5. Sometimes it’s about who you know.
In some respects, certain types of success have to do more with who you know as opposed to how hard you work, hustle, or study. Many people will tell you so long as you work hard, anything is possible, and while anything being possible is true, it isn’t always probable. Sometimes people have a better time, or easier time because they have good mentors or they knew the right people or joined the right clubs or had the right connections. Sometimes success is a collaborative effort, not just something we become on our own.

The ruler of an ancient kingdom wanted to disprove the statement that the men of his domain were ruled by their wives. He had all the males in his kingdom brought before him and warned that any man who did not tell the truth would be punished severely. Then he asked all the men who obeyed their wives' directions and counsel to step to the left side of the hall. All the men did so but one little man who moved to the right. “It's good to see,”said the king,“that we have one real man in the kingdom.Tell these chickenhearted dunces why you alone among them stand on the right side of the hall.” “Your Majesty,”came the reply in a squealing voice,“it is because before I left home my wife told me to keep out of crowds.”

Researchers from Pen State’s College of Liberal Arts and Stony Brook University conducted a two part experimental study to understand why those with headstrong personalities are more successful.
In the first part of the study, 200 students took a series of personality tests that measured howdisagreeable they were and their ability to come up with original ideas. Then each participant spent 10 minutes creating a unique marketing campaign for the online campus of their university. And for another 20 minutes, they broke off into groups of three to work on a joint campaign.
As predicted, being a jerk isn't advantageous for coming up with useful, original ideas, but it does seem to be advantageous for getting your ideas heard, especially in an environment consisting of pushy character. The ideas that were used in the group were from individuals who were pushy about their campaigns.
The second part of the study observed how students would do in certain group contexts. About 300 students worked alone to create a gift that would impress others visiting their campus. Next, they were told they would be video chatting with two other members of their group to share their ideas.
What the students didn’t know is that their online group members were actually assistants working for the researchers, who were told to give either supportive or negative feedback. This time, students were likely to only share their ideas if their ‘partners’ had smart ideas and gave negative feedback. In other words, the disagreeable individuals don't worry about the possibility that someone won't like their ideas.
The study suggests that individuals who are disagreeable or 'jerks' are more successful because they are better at getting their ideas heard in a group and that in supportive environments, may be useful because agreeable people will be more receptive to positive feedback.

-Stay focused.
Your job is to manage the department, not become friends with your employees or do their jobs if they can’t. Make sure you have a clear job description and then sit down with your supervisor and find out exactly what expectations he or she has for you.
-Go through the job description line by line.
Prioritize the tasks and find out what any vague wording exactly means. Then it is the time to ask questions and to point out any tasks that you feel aren’t under your control.
-Involve your staff.
Chances are your older employees have seen it all. They will be able to tell you what’s a potential problem and what isn’t. If you’re asked to solve a problem, go to them for advice before you try to come up with anything on your own.
-Don’t make massive changes all at once
. New managers frequently want to come in and totally redesign processes and systems to show how smart they are. There may be some necessary but for the first few months, keep things the way they are. Chances are the systems and processes have a history and have good reasons for being in place. If there are major areas you could change right away, you’ll still look like a more thoughtful manager if you ask for advice and get input from others, then propose a change in a reasonable timeframe.
-Be a good communicator.
Employees respect a manager who tells them what they did wrong without laying blame - you’ll go far with your employees if you admit a mistake you made before you talk to them about mistakes they’ve made. Employees also look for a leader who knows when to pass on important company information, when to go to the next level with a concern, and when to crack down on the rumor mill.

Long before the iPhone made him the god of gadgets, Steve Jobs launched his tech career by hacking land lines to make free long-distance calls.
Bob Dylan’s band, the Golden Chords, lost a high-school talent competition to a tap dancing act.
Behind every success story is an embarrassing first effort, a stumble, a setback or a radical change of direction. It’s these first clumsy steps on the road to fame and fortune that fascinate writer Seth Fiegerman, who edits the blog OpeningLines.org, a collection of case studies on the origins of famous careers.
“When you see someone who’s very successful, you almost imagine that it was a foregone conclusion, that they’re a genius, that they were destined for great things, ” says Fiegerman, who began the blog in 2009, after an early setback in his own career. “I think the big takeaway is failure and setbacks, far from being uncommon, are in many ways essential.”
After Fiegerman, now 26, graduated from New York University in 2008, he landed a coveted first job as a research editor at Playboy magazine. But he had worked there for just half a year when management announced that most of the staff would soon be laid off.
As unemployment loomed, Fiegerman felt adrift. He began to explore the Playboy archives, discovering a trove of interviews with celebrities ranging from Marlon Brando to Malcolm X. Many of these successful people shared tales of their less promising early days, and Fiegerman quickly became obsessed with these origin stories.
“It kind of paired well with this feeling that I had of, ‘Oh my God, what do I do?’” Fiegerman says. “And I found solace, in some ways, reading about the obstacles that famous figures had to overcome.”
He began devouring biographies and soliciting interviews with writers and musicians he admired, using the blog to document the fits and starts that began the careers of the famous and the infamous. Success, he learned, was less a matter of innate talent and more the product of perseverance, a willingness to stumble and stand up again and again.
“You kind of assume that great geniuses are like Mozart, ” Fiegerman says. But few successful people were child prodigies, and prodigies don’t necessarily find success. “Most people don’t stick to it.”
Author Jennifer Egan stuck with it. She told Fiegerman that her first novel was so bad even her mother hated it. But Egan kept writing, and her writing got better—in 2011, she won a Pulitzer Prize for her novel about growing old in the digital age, A Visit From the Goon Squad.
Knowing about a hero’s early flops and foibles might disillusion some fans, but Fiegerman finds comfort in rough beginnings. “The only thing that would have disappointed me is if I’d researched all these guys and women and found out that they got it right on the first try, because, OK, I did not, ” Fiegerman says with a laugh.
Like his subjects, Fieger-man found that his own early setback wasn’t permanent. He landed a new job in journalism, and today he works at the tech news website Mashable, covering, appropriately enough, start-up businesses. While he has less time for the blog, he hopes his collection of origin stories will help other young people realize it’s OK to fail.
“I hope some of them benefit from it, ” he says. “But if nothing else, I feel like I benefited from it a little bit.”

There is a common opinion that if you study hard and graduate with an “A diploma,” it will guarantee you will find a great job that pays well. Unfortunately, the reality is different. Although, most positions require you to have a diploma, no one will look through your grades. When you graduate, the only thing that matters is your knowledge and the ability to operate within the system.
So why is it that students that you could barely get their “C” at the end of a semester manage to become super successful? Let’s look through 7 reasons why “C” students will be the most successful people in the world.
1. They understand what they want earlier than others
“C” students don’t spend much time on the unnecessary classes we all have to.
If you are trying to become a technician, you obviously don’t need to write a hundred of annoying essays about culture and your summer experience.
They stop taking the required classes and focus on vocation-related subjects that can help them during their work. World famous innovator and entrepreneur Steve Jobs never finished college and made it to the top of IT industry only because he was focused on doing what he liked. During his famous speech to Stanford graduates he emphasized that “The only way to succeed, is to love what you do. Keep looking, don’t settle”.

2. They get first-hand experience.
Most “C” students start working earlier than their peers, which lowers their marks as they have to skip classes to make a living. At the same time, they get priceless experience every “A+” graduate is missing. And we all know that you are less likely to be hired without actual experience.
3. They build networks.
While “A” students are stuck learning unnecessary subjects, C students read tons of useful literature and communicate with dozens people every day. In real life, knowing powerful people as well as the ability to communicate can make a difference in your career.
4. They know how to enjoy life.
When in college, they visit parties and come to the lessons a little bit hangover, nevertheless, they enjoy their life. Same happens when they start working. Plain and simple: happy people are more successful than those who are not. It happens because they are fun to be around, proactive team players who will cheer up the entire team, which is one of the best skills your boss can look for. Stressful, negative people, no matter how intelligent they are won’t be in the top list of candidates.
5. They find the simplest solutions.
Billionaire computer specialist Bill Gates is one of the many successful people who cannot show off with their college marks. Nevertheless, he managed to get to the top by building Microsoft, one of the giant IT corporations. Bill Gates is very open-minded and unlike others, he never looks at grades or even diploma. Moreover, he thinks it is important to think outside-the-box. One of his famous quotes: “I will always choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because he will find an easy way to do it”.

6. They follow their dreams.
Much of success comes from loving what you do. When you enter college you are very young and might not understand what you actually need.
That’s why it is important to understand that you are not obliged to follow the choice you made when you were 18 or worse, if your parents made it for you. Look at the youngest female billionaire Elizabeth Holmes, who is revolutionizing medicine. She dropped out of Stanford, one of the most prestigious colleges to follow her dreams. Another great example is all-known fun-lover Richard Branson, he dropped our school at the age of 15, now he is managing a giant air company “Virgin.”
7. They understand what it is to struggle.
Success requires emotional intelligence, perseverance, passion and, most importantly, the ability to overcome failure. In business as well as in life, you will go through ups and downs no matter what grades you had in college. “C” students become more successful because they know what it means to struggle, starting with passing an exam and ending with finding money to start their own business.
At the end of the day, grades are just numbers. True achievement is to become someone in a real world. And, if you graduated from college with lower grades, don’t despair. Real life and real lessons occur when you leave the classroom.

1. Take time for yourself. This habit for highly successful women is my favorite: take time to recharge your batteries and refuel your emotional, spiritual, and physical energy. Spend at least a few minutes alone each day – even if you have to lock yourself in the bathroom to do it!
2. Forgive yourself for your mistakes. Highly successful women don’t obsess or feel guilty about past choices or failures. They make mistakes, move on, and apply what they’ve learned to new situations.
3. Connect with who you are. Being a daughter, wife, or mother is one aspect of your life. It doesn’t define who you are as a woman. To connect with who you are, find and express your authentic self. The more authentic you are, the more appealing you’ll be to others – and to yourself!
4. Avoid energy vampires. Do you feel drained or sad after spending time with a particular friend, coworker, or relative? Limit the time you spend with him or her. Note how you feel after visiting with a certain person; if you feel energized and happy, then you’re in good company. Highly successful women choose their companions wisely.
5. Speak kindly to yourself! If you beat yourself up for being overweight, a “bad” mom, or not exercising enough, you just create a downward spiral. Highly successful women remind themselves of their achievements and successes. They refuse to tell themselves negative things; they accept themselves.
6. Listen to your body. I heard Oprah Winfrey say this about 10 years ago: listen to what your body is telling you. Are you emotionally hungry or physically hungry? Feed yourself properly. Are you sad, furious, or depressed? Follow your body’s cues.
7. Volunteer your time. Find something that takes you out of your comfort zone or that you love to do. You’ll feel great that you’re helping others out – and volunteering directly improves your physical health. Highly successful women step out of their comfort zones and takes risks.
8. Let go of perfectionism. Strive to do your best, but let go of perfectionist tendencies. Accepting that you’re doing the best you can is a habit of highly successful women. Letting go of perfectionism is vitamins and exercise for the soul!
9. Use your core strengths. Are you a natural mathematician, writer, or party planner? Discover your core strengths by trying different things until you find what fits. To take risks and try new things, take short-term volunteer positions or volunteer for new projects at work or in your community.
10. Maintain your hormonal balance. Are you moody, exhausted, irritable, or sad? Check your hormones. If they’re out of whack, then you’ll struggle to be successful! Make sure you’re getting enough protein and vitamins, and decrease your refined sugars and carbohydrates.
