How much make-up do men really find attractive? Dating site discovers women with lipstick and blush are THREE TIMES more likely to be asked on a date.
Men are three times more likely to ask a woman out online if she is wearing make-up in her dating profile picture, a new survey has discovered.
Zoosk, a dating site and app, analyzed 1,200 women’s profiles and found that these individuals were three times more likely to be messaged if they were wearing make-up including eye shadow, lipstick and blush.
The site’s male users appear to prefer eye make-up the most, as women who were pictured with painted lids received 139 percent more first messages than those who did not.
Lipstick followed a close second, as women received 119per cent more notes than those who were shown with a bare pout.
Cheeks, however, appear the least important, as women wearing blush or bronzer only received 24 percent more notes than those who did not.
But there are some parameters involved in men’s preference for make-up –mainly that it has to ‘look’ natural.
In surveying 1,800 male members, Zoosk found that 66per cent of them do not find dates who wear dark make-up attractive.
he same goes for red lipstick, as 57per cent of respondents found the color cosmetic to be an unattractive first-date choice.
In terms of hair, it seems that natural is always the way to go. Natural styles were preferred by 84per cent of respondents, over follicles that had been dyed an unearthly color.
A natural wave is also appreciated, as only 9per cent of men preferred pin-straight, flat ironed locks to those boasting some form of texture.

Beautiful women, it seems, really do find life easier。
Whether it's in the office or in the courtroom, a new study backs up the belief that prettywomen can broker deals more easily。
This, according to the research, is because beauty overrides the brain's reaction to fairnesss -a fact tied to a subconsciousness rooted in male evolution。
As part of the study, 21 male students at Zhejiang University in China, were asked to look at300 photos of Chinese women。
A different group of men had judged half of the women as attractive and the halfunattractive。
The men were then teamed up with some of the women whose faces they had just seen whileplaying a computer game。
In the game, they decided whether to split a small amount of money. At the same time, theresearchers studied their brain waves and noted their response times。
They found men were more likely to accept bad deals from attractive women。
They were also quicker to respond to fair offers from good-looking women and slower torespond to unfair offers。
Meanwhile, brain scans revealed that men were more sensitive to unfair offers when the womanwas unattractive, and felt greater reward when the woman was attractive。
University of Stirling psychologist Anthony Little, who was not involved in the study toldpeople,it was not entirely clear why we behave differently toward attractive people。
'We appear to have a bias toward being nice to attractive people even when the rewards toourselves, such as increasing the chance of a date, wouldn't apply,' Little said。
'This suggests our motivations to be nice to attractive people are unlikely to be based onconscious decisions to maximise our own benefits.'
Previous studies have also found a pretty face can be a source of lifelong advantage -beginning at secondary school。

They say that first impressions count, but if you’re aman and you want to make a lasting impression ona woman, apparently all you need is a deep, low-pitched voice to rival Barry White。
According to a study from the University ofAberdeen, women are more sensitive towardsdeeper voices in men and will most likely rememberthem over guys with a higher pitched tone。
The study, led by researcher David Smith, observed 45 women who were shown images objectsand were read out the name of the object by someone with a low and high-pitched voice。
When asked to recall the objects and which voice they preferred, the deep drawl came uptrumps, in both memory and attractiveness。
According to the findings, the results show that a woman’s memory is enhanced by a low, manly voice and because women rely heavily on memories, it helps them scan the voice tonesfor genetic superiority when looking for a potential partner。
David Smith said: "Our findings demonstrate that women's memory is enhanced by lowerpitch male voices, compared with the less attractive raised pitch male voices。
"Our experiments indicate for the first time that signals from the opposite sex that areimportant for mate choice also affect accuracy in women's memory."
Is a deep, masculine voice the key to a woman’s heart? “We think this is evidence thatevolution has shaped women's ability to remember information associated with desirablemen,” says Dr. Kevin Allen, a supervisor from the study。

Women are more likely than men to display symptoms of depression when in a position of authority at work, according to US scientists.
Dr Ruth Sealy at City University in London said women were often "trapped" by the gendered notion of a good leader.
When female leadership adopted traditionally masculine behaviours as leaders, they were criticised for being unfeminine, yet colleagues would not believe the women were good leaders if they saw only their feminine characteristics.
Therefore, they have worse mental health than lower status women.
The leadership is/are in agreement on this issue.(领导对这个问题的看法一致。)

The tests that show if you've got a male or female brain: The answer may surprise you - and explain your personality
Sit down for a moment. Relax. Then clasp your hands together so your fingers entwine — don’t overthink it! Now look at your thumbs. Which one is on top — the left one or the right?
If you are a man, the odds are it will be the left; if you are a woman, it is more likely to be the right. Now unfold your hands and take a look at your fingers, in particular your index finger (next to your thumb) and your ring finger (next to your little finger).
This is the stuff of jokes and self-help books — but it is also shown to be true through science. The question is, do these tendencies result from nature — with the biological gender we are born with deciding our interests and personalities — or do they result from nurture, with society and upbringing creating the differing ways that men and women behave?
The BBC series Horizon asked Professor Alice Roberts and me to investigate. We started from very different positions.
Alice thinks apparent brain differences between the sexes have been exaggerated by how our culture treats boys and girls. In the programme she carries out fascinating tests to prove her point, such as dressing up little boys as girls and vice versa and watching how people treat them.
Almost immediately, the girls start rough-housing and playing with trucks, while the boys are treated far more gently by the adults around them.
She argues that parents’ unconscious actions — such as being gentler with girls and letting boys behave more roughly — often mould children into men and women who embody gender stereotypes.
While I agree that lots of wild generalisations about men and women are bandied around, I also think there may be something in claims that our fundamental biology influences how we behave.
Professor Simon Baron-Cohen, an expert on the brain who I visited at Cambridge University, has done a lot of pioneering work on this. He believes, broadly, that people of whatever gender fall somewhere along a ‘systemiser’ to ‘empathiser’ spectrum.
Systemisters are people who enjoy breaking down and analysing systems.
They are more likely to become train spotters or computer scientists.
They are what he has called ‘male brained’ — as these qualities occur most frequently, but far from exclusively, in men.
Empathisers, on the other hand, are more typically ‘female’ brained as they are more typically women.
Although there are exceptions, most men — when tested — come out as more ‘systemising’ than ‘empathising’, while for women it is the other way round.
A number of studies have shown that the greater the difference between the length of the ring finger and the index finger, the more ‘male’ your brain is likely to be.
As you can imagine, this is a controversial area of science. Professor Baron-Cohen does these studies because he is interested in autism, which he describes as an extreme version of the male brain — more interested in systems and often struggling with empathy.
A while ago, when I was making a programme called Pleasure And Pain, we did a survey where we asked people which of the sexes they thought was better at tolerating pain — 81 per cent of women said ‘women’, while a mere 11 per cent thought men were the tougher breed.
Although men were more inclined to give themselves the benefit of the doubt, the majority, 54 per cent, still agreed ‘women’ were more stoical. But is this right?
One way to find out is to get male and female volunteers to take part in a cold water immersion test.
This is a standard pain test widely used because it causes acute pain without doing any long-term damage (as long as you don’t do it for more than 15 minutes).
In this test, you put your hand in a bucket of ice-cold water and see how long you can keep it there before the pain becomes intolerable.
I’ve done it a couple of times and oddly enough after the initial shock it doesn’t actually feel cold; below about 3 degrees Celsius your pain receptors overwhelm your temperature receptors so you are no longer able to tell if the water is hot or freezing.
All you know is that it is incredibly painful.
When this test is done in a laboratory setting, men almost always outlast women. This may be pure machismo, but Professor Jeff Mogil of McGill University, Montreal, thinks there is more to it.
A couple of years ago, I was in a large military hospital in Afghanistan, filming a series called Frontline Medicine for the BBC. I saw a number of soldiers, male and female, with serious head injuries.
I was told that the women were likely to make a better recovery than the men. Why? It may be, in part, because women have higher levels of progesterone.Progesterone is best known as a female hormone, involved in the menstrual cycle and pregnancy, but it is also important for the development of neurones — the cells that carry messages in the brain.
Animal studies and a few small human trials have shown that giving progesterone soon after suffering a brain injury improves survival and recovery.
This, I think, is why researching gender differences is worth doing.
It is not because it will help us understand why men struggle to remember their children’s birthdays or why there are fewer female darts players, but because it may help us find more effective ways to tackle disease.

An imaginative wife
A woman had a desire to have her portrait painted, and her husband engaged the best artist he could find. During one of the sittings , the wife made a rather unusual request. She asked the artist to paint in diamond necklace, ear-rings and tiara, even though she wore no jewelry. The artist did as she told him but was puzzled. "Why did we add the gems?" he asked, as they looked at the finished product.
The wife said, "It is in case should die before my husband, I just know he'd remarry right away. Let his new wife look for the jewels."
Hurt all over 浑身都疼
A young woman went to her doctor complaining of pain.
"Where are you hurting?" asked the doctor.
"You have to help me, I hurt all over", said the woman.
"What do you mean, all over?" asked the doctor, "be a little more specific."
The woman touched her right knee with her index finger and yelled, "Own, that hurts." Then she touched her left cheek and again yelled, "Ouch! That hurts, too." Then she touched her right earlobe, "Own, even THAT hurts", she cried.
The doctor checked her thoughtfully for a moment and told her his diagnosis, "You have a broken finger."

A tourist in Africa sent his mother an exotic bird for her birthday. When he got back to the States, he called her. "Hi, Mom," he said. "How'd you like the bird I gave you?"

"You ate the bird!" the guy shrieked. "He was very expensive. He could talk!"
"Well, if he was so smart," replied the mother, "Why didn't he say something?"

First, Chinese medicine won’t have or have less side effect. Western can work on people’s body soon, but it is true that the side effect is very obvious, such as headache, dizzy and get sick of the food. Chinese medicine takes some time to work, but without side effect. People can recover completely.
Second, Chinese medicine pays special attention to the food treatment. It is believed that taking pills will hurt the body, but the food treatment is different, people can adjust their diet to get healthy. Chinese medicine will not out of date.

I’ll have what she's having! Women prefer men who have been 'road-tested' in previous relationships - but not too many
• Australian scientists say that women take part in 'mate copying'
• Their study showed that females preferred men who had ex-girlfriends
• Researchers found optimum number of previous partners was one or two
• Men with no old flames were less desirable especially with younger women
• But males with five previous partners were found to be the least appealing
What’s the best way for single men to land a girlfriend?
According to one study the answer turns out to be a bit of a catch-22 - women prefer men who have had previous relationships, but having too many partners is detrimental.
In fact, Australian researchers found that having too many partners was less desirable than someone who had none at all.
The study was published in the journal Human Nature and is somewhat amusingly titled ‘I want what she’s having’.
In it, Ryan Anderson and Michele Surbey of James Cook University in Queensland, Australia looked at how human mating compared to the rest of the animal kingdom.
They noted how non-human animals prefer males that have had had previous association with other females, a phenomenon known as 'mate copying'.
The researchers investigated ‘whether humans also exhibit mate copying’, and if women preferred experienced men.
In the study, 123 female university students rated men pictured alone or with one, two or five women represented by silhouettes.
The silhouettes, or lack thereof, represented how many relationships they had had in the last four years.
The findings showed that women preferred men who had one or two previous partners, as opposed to those who’d had none.Men with five previous partners, however, were the least desirable.
‘Maybe that's an indication that he's promiscuous or unable or unwilling to commit, maybe he's a bit flaky - for whatever reason, he just can't hold down relationship so that was seen as a huge turn-off,’ the researchers told ABC.
And age was also a factor - younger women were more likely to ‘mate copy’ than older women.
‘Our results suggest that women do not always make mate choices independent of one another [and] there appears to be a significant desirability advantage for men who have been previously selected as a romantic partner,’ the authors added.
‘Humans are nothing more than a really pretentious species of animal,’ Anderson added.

According to the Daily Telegraph of October 24, a study suggests that a woman's blood group could influence her chances of getting pregnant. Researchers who tested a group of women seeking fertility treatment found those with the blood type O appeared to have a lower egg count and poorer egg quality than others. By contrast those with blood type A seemed to have more and better quality eggs。
The findings could lead to women with type O blood being advised to try for a baby earlier, but experts said more research was needed before such a step was taken。
The lead author, Dr Edward Nejat, of the department of obstetrics and gynaecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, said his findings were based on women having fertility treatment at the Yale University and the Montefiore Institute in New York。
The study of 560 women, whose average age was just under 35, found that those with blood type O were more likely to have higher levels of "follicle stimulating hormone" (FSH) than those with type A。
Fertility experts regard a high FSH level as a key indicator of having a low egg count. FSH is produced by the body to stimulate the follicles in the ovaries that produce eggs。
As a woman's ovaries run out of eggs in her 30s and 40s, production therefore has to be stepped up to encourage more eggs. The presence of high levels of FSH indicates lower numbers of eggs。
The study found that women with blood type O were twice as likely to have an FSH level above 10 as those in any other blood group。
People with blood group A carry the A antigen, a protein on the cell surface, that is absent in people with O type。

Though professional women have certainly made strides since the Don Draper–era male domination of the workplace, females still earn just 81 percent of men. This figure from a 2010 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics survey, shows that women need to work harder to pull even with males. Thus, it's crucial that women entering the work force—or who seek greater job satisfaction—choose career paths carefully. Here's a list of the top industries for women now.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, women will make significant strides in the work force by 2014; the agency's recent report stated: “The male labor force is projected to grow by 9.1 percent from 2004 to 2014, compared with 10.9 percent for women.” One industry that is already heavily dominated by women is health care. The percentage of women in this field is 78 percent; womens' average annual earnings are $32,149; and the job growth projected by 2014 is 27.3 percent.
Women tend to dominate in the employment-services sector, which includes staffing services and recruitment positions as well as in-house human-resources professionals. Generally speaking, women are better at listening to and empathizing with others, both skills are a huge part of this industry. The percentage of women in the employment-services sector is 57.4 percent; their average earnings are $21,320; and growth of employment for women in this field is expect to jump a whopping 45.5 percent by 2014. This is a great industry for women seeking job security.
The educational-services field is very female-friendly, and includes positions such as teachers and tutors and school administrators. Teaching children has always been a popular job for professional women in America, but now female domination of the sector has gone up through college professorship and beyond. The educational-services industry is comprised of an impressive 69 percent women; their average female employee's earnings are $36,370; and the growth of women employed in this field by 2014 is projected to rise by 16.6 percent.
The careers that make up the social-assistance field are wide and varied (the figures here exclude child day-care workers), but all involve helping people in need. The job options include such wide-ranging options as government-employed social workers, behavioral-health counselors at residential treatment facilities for the mentally ill or substance-addicted, and social-security-benefit case managers. The percentage of women in this field is an impressive 73.8 percent; the annual average earnings for women is $22,979; and the projected growth for women in this sector is 32.6 percent by 2014.
With huge advances taking place in the pharmaceutical industry almost daily, there is a growing need for talented individuals to work in this lucrative field. Many more women are studying science and chemistry in college, and are primed to take over this field that was once highly male-dominated. The percentage of women in the pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing field is 46.3 percent; women's average earnings are $44,420; and the expected increase of females in the industry is a significant 26.1 percent by 2014.
The fictional character of Peggy Olson of “Mad Men” was definitely spot-on. Women have an intuitive sense of what type of message sells products—especially to other women—and they also tend to be good at helping to creatively devise and promote brands, products and destinations. Women make up 52.3 percent of the workers in the advertising and public-relations industry; their average yearly earnings are $38,370; and the projected increase of females in this field is 22.4 percent by 2014. For creative thinkers, this is a terrific field.
Typically, people don't like to think too much about insurance. It brings up thoughts of crises, death, and financial insecurity. Perhaps unsurprisingly, women are surpassing men in this field, likely because they can sell insurance to clients by using empathy rather than scare tactics. The percentage of women in the insurance industry is 60.9 percent; women's average annual earnings are $38,590; and their growth within the business is projected to reach 9.5 percent by 2014.
This is a class of occupations, especially, where women have made huge strides. It was not so many years ago when advocacy and civic work was almost entirely male-dominated. Again, it perhaps is due to women's ability to listen to and understand multiple viewpoints that has engendered their success in these fields. The percentage of women working in advocacy and civic organizations is 66.9 percent; the median annual earnings are $28,007; and the growth projection of females in the field, by 2014, is expected to reach 14.5 percent.

Women are more likely to tolerate bad behaviour in handsome men, psychologists claim.
The first impression created by physical appearance deeply influences how women view a man's subsequent behaviour, according to the findings of a new study.
Such impressions are made in a flash - but are not always correct.
In what psychologists call the 'halo effect', people warm up to others with positive characteristics such as attractiveness - and that judgement significantly effects how they view their future behaviour.
Psychologists Jeremy Gibson and Jonathan Gore presented two pictures of men - one handsome, one ugly - to 170 different women.
They then paired each picture to one of two fictional scenarios. In one, the man asked her to borrow a pen.
In the other, he approached the woman out of the blue and asked to take her photograph.
The researcher asked the women their opinion of each man after each scenario.
After they asked to borrow a pen, the men were viewed equally by the women - their attractiveness did not affect how they were perceived.
But after they asked to take a photograph, the way the men was perceived differed wildly.
The attractive man was not deemed to have done anything wrong, while the ugly man was deemed to have crossed a line.
