Understand that life is not a straight line. Life is not a set timeline of milestones. You are allowed to backtrack. You are allowed to figure out what inspires you. You are allowed time, and I think we often forget that.
You ruin your life by choosing the wrong person.
What is it with our need to fast-track relationships? Be alone. Eat alone, take yourself on dates, sleep alone. In the midst of this you will learn about yourself. You will grow, you will figure out what inspires you, you will curate your own dreams, your own beliefs, your own stunning clarity, and when you do meet the person who makes your cells dance, you will be sure of it, because you are sure of yourself.
You ruin your life by letting your past govern it.
It is common for certain things in life to happen to you. There will be heartbreak, confusion, days where you feel like you aren’t special or purposeful. You cannot let these define you. If you don’t allow yourself to move past what happened, what was felt, you will look at your future with that lens, and nothing will be able to breach that judgment.
You ruin your life when you compare yourself to others.
We get caught up in what our friends are liking, who our significant others are following, and at the end of the day this not only ruins our lives, but it also ruins us.
You ruin your life by tolerating it.
At the end of the day you should be excited to be alive. When you settle for anything less than what you innately desire, you destroy the possibility that lives inside of you. Life and work, and life and love, are not irrespective of each other. They are intrinsically linked. We have to strive to do extraordinary work, we have to strive to find extraordinary love. Only then will we tap into an extraordinarily blissful life.

The most troubled and compelling participants in the series are the ones that are also among the most grateful for what they have.
Neil, for example, suffers severe mental illness and has been homeless and suicidal for long stretches of time. But Neil also provides the audience with many moments of grace, as when he recounts how grateful he is for long walks and conversations with friends.
This sense of gratitude contributes powerfully to the resilience self-cure of Neil. People who live a life of pervasive thankfulness really do experience life differently than people who cheat themselves out of life by not feeling grateful.

Yeah,no pains , no gains . We are all in the position of thefarmer. If we plant a good seed, we reap a good harvest. If ourseed is poor and full of weeds, we reap a useless crop. If weplant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

The past is gone and static. Nothing we can do will change it. The future is before us and dynamic.Everything we do will affect it. Each day brings with it new frontiers, in our homes and in ourbusiness, if we only recognize them. We are just at the beginning of the progress in every field ofhuman endeavor.

From August 1st to August 15th I fasted from complaining. Yes, that's right. No more "I'm tired" grumbles at 3 p.m. at the office. No more yelling at cars that cut me off on 440. No more snapping at people for not listening. The highlight of the two week period? I validated that I'm not a terrible, negative person, AND optimistic people tend to live longer according to some studies. And I'm optimistic enough to believe these studies are the correct studies.
So here you go: The top five things that occurred when I stopped complaining, both the good and the bad.
1. I realized that I don't sleep enough. The biggest complaint that I had to bite my tongue on?
"I'm tired." Or a variation of "I'm exhausted." American culture leaves us seeking to thrive off of no sleep and Starbucks. And is it really worth it to feel that negativity quite literally every day? I found myself almost getting annoyed with myself for being so tired. On the same note, I annoyed myself when I felt like uttering the complaint, "I'm starving." No, Alexii. You don't actually know what it really means to be hungry (so maybe you aren't THAT tired either).
2. Angst builds up.
Here's the deal: this experience was overall a positive experience for me. It truly made me reflect on my reactions to situations. That being said, sometimes people just need to vent. There was one day that I came home completely exhausted and slightly emotionally distraught. Instead of engaging in conversation with my friend that was at my house or my fiancé, I straight up shut down. It's almost as if I didn't know how to be positive in that moment. It was strange. And I went to bed early that night. But on a lighter note...
3. I argued less.
I'm not exactly one to pick a fight, but I noticed how many stupid arguments I can have in a week. If my fiancé Alex said something I disagreed with, I couldn't immediately react. This helped me not snap -- and more importantly it made me think before anything came out of my mouth. I'm pretty sure we've been told since kindergarten, "Think before you speak" but I noted how often I neglect this simplest piece of advice.
4. Negativity is a state of mind.
When you stop yourself from uttering negative speech, you begin to notice how negative your thought process tends to be. Sure I didn't verbally complain when I was tired or annoyed -- but I still continued thinking them. And as much as negative speech can wear you down, negative thoughts are just as dangerous.
5. I prayed more.
If I was forced to turn the negative into the positive, I turned to God. Perhaps its from prior experience--but for whatever reason, it happened. And my spirit felt nourished.
And at the end of the day? Shit happens. After my fast from complaining, I had what may have been one of the worst days I had experienced. Imagine tough conversations that were draining but necessary (and even worse after the conversation, nothing was resolved) compiled with other people's negativity. Then add a few "first world" problems as I like to call them -- a poor night's sleep, a shattered phone, and a stalling car. What did I do? I complained. Where did it get me? Not too far. I noted a day later that things really aren't that bad. People have good days and people have bad days -- but the truth is? It's all about your outlook.

“There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept responsibility for changing them.” ~Denis Waitley
Many people are constantly waiting for their life to start. “When I’m older I’ll do this” and “In a few years I’ll do that.” They think the life they are experiencing is boring and meaningless.
Who has never viewed himself/herself as worthless and unattractive?
In others’ eyes, you are always “the funny one” and became loud and overconfident to mask what I was actually feeling, but few people know about the way you felt.
All of us may suffer with depression and frustration, lose guidance and support, need aids physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
Just think like this way:
“This too shall pass.”
Horrible feelings I am feeling will eventually go away.
I need to stop feeling so sorry for myself and actually want to change. I am an incredibly lucky person who have come from a family who love and support my whole life.
I had to be the one to make the decision to change my way of thinking.
All the good things and all the wonderful people in my life would pass eventually too. While I am feeling miserable, my life is still going on and I am missing out on appreciating those precious moments.
We all have horrible things happen to us that will affect each of us differently.
The important thing to remember is that our problems aren’t what define us. What defines us is how we deal with what has happened to us; how we change the way we think about it.
We can either let it become us or we can use our new found wisdom to change the little bit of world around us all.
There’s something much bigger than us and our problems. It is always important to remember that there is always someone who is in a position much worse than our own.
Nevertheless, I am well on the way to becoming the person I want to be and I have goals and expectations of myself. I am now aware that my life has started.
It started years ago and it’s not nearly over yet. It’s happening right now. Yours is too.

There were a sensitivity and a beauty to her that have nothing to do with looks. She was the one to be listened to, whose words were so easy to take to heart.
It is said that the true nature of being is veiled. The labor of words, the expression of art, the seemingly ceaseless buzz that is human thought all have in common the need to get at what really is so. The hope to draw close to and possess the truth of being can be a feverish one. In some cases it can even be fatal, if pleasure is one's truth and its attainment more important than life itself. In other lives, though, the search for what is truthful gives life.
I used to find notes left in the collection basket, beautiful notes about my homilies and about the writer's thoughts on the daily scriptural readings. The person who penned the notes would add reflections to my thoughts and would always include some quotes from poets and mystics he or she had read and remembered and loved. The notes fascinated me. Here was someone immersed in a search for truth and beauty. Words had been treasured, words that were beautiful. And I felt as if the words somehow delighted in being discovered, for they were obviously very generous to the as yet anonymous writer of the notes. And now this person was in turn learning the secret of sharing them. Beauty so shines when given away. The only truth that exists is, in that sense, free.
It was a long time before I met the author of the notes.
One Sunday morning, I was told that someone was waiting for me in the office. The young person who answered the rectory door said that it was "the woman who said she left all the notes."When I saw her I was shocked, since I immediately recognized her from church but had no idea that it was she who wrote the notes. She was sitting in a chair in the office with her hands folded in her lap. Her head was bowed and when she raised it to look at me, she could barely smile without pain. Her face was disfigured, and the skin so tight from surgical procedures that smiling or laughing was very difficult for her. She had suffered terribly from treatment to remove the growths that had so marred her face.
We chatted for a while that Sunday morning and agreed to meet for lunch later that week.
As it turned out we went to lunch several times, and she always wore a hat during the meal. I think that treatments of some sort had caused a lot of her hair to fall out. We shared things about our lives. I told her about my schooling and growing up. She told me that she had worked for years for an insurance company. She never mentioned family, and I did not ask.
We spoke of authors we both had read, and it was easy to tell that books are a great love of hers.
I have thought about her often over the years and how she struggled in a society that places an incredible premium on looks, class, wealth and all the other fineries of life. She suffered from a disfigurement that cannot be made to look attractive. I know that her condition hurt her deeply.
Would her life have been different had she been pretty?Chances are it would have. And yet there were a sensitivity and a beauty to her that had nothing to do with looks. She was one to be listened to, whose words were so easy to take to heart. Her words came from a wounded but loving heart, very much like all hearts, but she had more of a need to be aware of it, to live with it and learn from it. She possessed a fine-tuned sense of beauty. Her only fear in life was the loss of a friend.
How long does it take most of us to reach that level of human growth,if we ever get there? We get so consumed and diminished, worrying about all the things that need improving,we can easily forget to cherish those things that last. Friendship,so rare and so good, just needs our care-maybe even the simple gesture of writing a little note now and then,or the dropping of some beautiful words in a basket, in the hope that such beauty will be shared and taken to heart.
The truth of her life was a desire to see beyond the surface for a glimpse of what it is that matters. She found beauty and grace and they befriended her, and showed her what is real.

Once a circle missed a wedge. The circle wanted to bewhole,so it went around looking for its missingpiece. But because it was incomplete and thereforecould roll only very slowly,it admired the flowers alongthe way.It chatted with worms. It enjoyed the sunshine.Itfound lots of different pieces, but none of them fit.So itleft them all by the side of the road and kept onsearching. Then one day the circle found a piece that fitperfectly. It was so happy. Now it could be whole, with nothing missing. It incorporated themissingpiece into itself and began to roll. Now that it was a perfect circle,it could roll very fast, toofast tonotice the flowers or talking to the worms. When it realized how different the world seemedwhen it rolled so quickly,it stopped, left its found piece by the side of the road and rolled slowlyaway.
The lesson of the story,I suggested, was that in some strange sense we are more whole when weare missingsomething. The man who has everything is in some ways a poor man.He will never knowwhat it feels like to yearn,to hope,to nourish his soul with the dream of something better. He willnever know the experience ofhaving someone who loves him give him something he has alwayswanted or never had.
There is a wholeness about the person who has come to terms with his limitations, who has beenbrave enough to let go of his unrealistic dreams and not feel like a failure for doing so.There is awholeness about the man or woman who has learned that he or she is strong enough to go througha tragedy and survive, who can lose someone and still feel like a complete person.
Life is not a trap set for us by God so that he can condemn us for failing.Life is not a spellingbee, where no matter how many words you've gotten right, you're disqualified if you make onemistake.Life ismore like a baseball season, where even the best team loses one-third of its gamesand even the worst team has its days of brilliance. Our goal is to win more games than we lose.
When we accept that imperfection is part of being human, and when we can continue rollingthrough life andappreciate it,we will have achieved a wholeness that others can only aspireto. That,I believe,is what God asks of us not "Be perfect",not "Don't even make a mistake",but"Be whole."
If we are brave enough to love, strong enough to forgive, generous enough to rejoice in another'shappiness, and wise enough to know there is enough love to go around for us all, then we canachieve a fulfillmentthat no other living creature will ever know.

Napoleon declared, “Victory belongs to the mostpersevering.”Upon careful study we find perseverancedepends upon three things - purpose, will, andenthusiasm. He who has a purpose is alwaysconcentrating his forces.By the will, the hope and theplan are prevented from evaporating intodreams.Enthusiasm keeps the interest up, and makesthe obstacles seem small.
Life is in a sense a battle. The man who thinks to get on by mere smartness and by idling meetsfailure atlast.Perseverance is the master impulse of the firmest souls, and holds the key to thosetreasure-houses of knowledge from which the world has drawn its wealth both of wisdom and ofmoral worth.
Great men never wait for opportunities; they make them. They seize upon whatever is at hand, workout their problem, and master the situation. The greatest thing a man can do in this world is to makethe most possible out of the stuff that has been given to him. This is success and there is no other.
One of the important lessons of life is to learn how to get victory out of defeat. It takes courage andstamina, when mortified by humiliating disaster, to seek in the ruins the elements of futureconquest. Yet this measures the difference between those who succeed and those who fail. Wecannot measure a man by his failures. We must know what use he makes of them. The man who hasnot fought his way upward and does not bear the scar of desperate conflict does not know thehighest meaning of success.

A life of slothful ease, a life of that peace which springsmerely from lack either of desire or of power to striveafter great things, is as little worthy of a nation as anindividual.
We do not admire the man of timid peace. We admirethe man who embodies victorious efforts,
the man who never wrongs his neighbor, who isprompt to help a friend, but who has those virile qualities necessary to win in the stern strife ofactual life. It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed. In this life we get nothingsave by effort. Freedom from effort in the present merely meansthat there has been effort stored upin the past. A man can be freed from the necessity of work only by the fact that he or his fathersbefore him have worked to good purpose. If the freedom thus purchased is used aright, and the manstill does actual work, though of a different kind, whether as a writer or a general, whether in the fieldof politics or in the field of exploration and adventure,
he shows he deserves his good fortune.
But if he treats this period of freedom from the need of actual labor as a period, not of preparation, butof mere enjoyment, even though perhaps not of vicious enjoyment, he shows that he is simply acumberer on the earth’s surface; and he surely unfits himself to hold his own place with his fellows,if the need to do so should again arise. A mere life of ease is not in the end a very satisfactory life, and, above all, it is a life which ultimately unfits those who follow it for serious work in the world.
As it is with the individual, so it is with the nation. It is a base untruth to say that happy is the nationthat has no history. Thrice happy is the nation that has a glorious history. Far better it is to daremighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank withthose poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twillight thatknows neither victory nor defeat.

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no days, no hours or minutes. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.
Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear.
So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will all expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.
It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived.
It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Your gender, skin color, ethnicity will be irrelevant.
So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?
What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success, but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage and sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
What will matter is not your competence, but your character.
What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone.
What will matter is not your memories, but the memories of those who loved you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn’ t happen by accident.
It s not a matter of circumstance but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters.

Some years ago on a hot summer day in south Florida a little boy decided togo for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house.
In a hurry to dive into the cool water,he ran out the back door, leavingbehind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, notrealizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake,an alligator wasswimming toward the shore. His mother - in the house was looking out thewindow - saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utterfear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could.
Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a return to swimto his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her,the alligatorreached him.
From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms just as thealligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug-of-war betweenthe two. The alligator was much stronger than the mother, but the motherwas much too passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, heard herscreams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.
Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal and, on his arms, were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.
The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter. But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my mom wouldn't let go.
You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, or anything quite so dramatic. But, the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret.
But, some wounds, my friend, are because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle, He's been there holding on to you.

Life comes in a package. This package includes happiness and sorrow, failure and success, hope and despair. Life is a learning process. Experiences in life teach us new lessons and make us a better person. With each passing day we learn to handle various situations.
Love
Love plays a pivotal role on out life. Love makes you feel wanted. Without love a person could go hayward and also become cruel and ferocious. In the early stage of our life, our parents are the ones who shower us with unconditional love and care, they teach us about what is right and wrong, good and bad. But we always tend to take this for granted. It is only after marriage and having kids that a person understands and becomes sensitive to others feelings. Kids make a person responsible and mature and help us to understand life better.
Happiness and Sorrow
Materialistic happiness is short-lived, but happiness achieved by bringing a smile on others face gives a certain level of fulfillment. Peace of mind is the main link to happiness. No mind is happy without peace. We realize the true worth of happiness when we are in sorrow. Sorrow is basically due to death of a loved one, failure and despair. But these things are temporary and pass away.
Failure and Success
Failure is the path to success. It helps us to touch the sky, teaches us to survive and shows us a specific way. Success brings in money, fame, pride and self-respect. Here it becomes very important to keep our head on out shoulder. The only way to show our gratitude to God for bestowing success on us is by being humble, modest, courteous and respectful to the less fortunate ones.
Hope and Despair
Hope is what keeps life going. Parents always hope their children will do well. Hope makes us dream. Hope builds in patience. Life teaches us not to despair even in the darkest hour, because after every night there is a day. Nothing remains the same we have only one choice keep moving on in life and be hopeful.
Life teaches us not to regret over yesterday, for it has passed and is beyond our control. Tomorrow is unknown, for it could either be bright or dull. So the only alternative is work hard today, so that we will enjoy a better
tomorrow.

When a baby opens her eyes, the first glow of sunlight shines upon her face, and her life begins with a cry.
At first, it was easy. Grabbing the hands of her parents, she came through her delightful childhood. The path was broad and flat; with some help, she climbed a little. However, when she looked up, she realized the peak of the mountain could not be seen clearly. The dim, obscure clouds got into her way.
But she didn't stop. She continued her journey. A considerable number of stones were thrown at her face, leaving scars inside and out.
But she didn't stop. She didn't give up trying. The tight, warm and strong hands became loose; step by step, she was alone.
She looked beyond and the road became steep and dangerous. The heavens were less obscure than before. She hurried up, but tripped and fell. She lay on the ground, depressed and frustrated, until she noticed the intoxicating scent of flowers, the tickling sound of bells and the inviting image of above.
Despite the pain from her fall, she stood up, with faith in her heart, and continued her journey. She knew there would be numerous obstacles ahead, but she didn't stop. She knew she would never stop.
