Are you a good conversationalist? What makes someone a good conversationalist? Being a good conversationalist is important in every context, be it in business, social, or dating.
I don’t think there are any “tricks” or shady techniques you have to apply to be a great conversationalist. Below are ten timeless rules I apply to all my conversations:
1. Be genuinely interested in the person.
Who is this person? What’s on his/her mind? What does he/she enjoy doing? What motivates him/her in life? These are the questions I have for every single person I meet. Since people form the core of my life purpose (to help others grow), my genuine interest in people, from who they are to what they do, comes naturally.
Such genuine interest, not an artificial one, is essential to making a conversation fly. If you are not interested in the other person, then why speak to him/her to begin with? Move on to someone you really want to talk to. Life is too short to be spent doing things you don’t like.
2. Focus on the positives.
Which means rather than talk about past grievances, opt for a discussion of future goals. Rather than talk about the coffee that spilled on your table this morning, talk about that movie you are looking forward to watch later in the evening. It’s okay to talk about “negative” topics (read: topics that trigger negative emotions) once in a while, but only when you feel it is okay with the other party and when it has a specific purpose (e.g., to get to know the other person better or to bond with the person).
3. Converse, not debate (or argue).
A conversation should be a platform where opinions are aired, not a battle ground to pit one’s stance against another. Be ready to chat, discuss, and trash out ideas, but do so amiably. There’s no need to have a conclusion or agreement point in every discussion; if a convergence has to be met with everything that is mooted, the conversation would be very draining. Allow for things to be left open-ended if a common point can’t be achieved.
4. Respect.
don’t impose, criticize, or judge. Respect other people’s point of view. Respect other people’s space—don’t encroach on the person’s privacy unless a common bond has been established. Respect other people’s personal choices—don’t criticize or judge. Everyone has his/her right to be him/herself, just as you have the right to be yourself.
5. Put the person in his/her best light.
Always look for ways to make the person look good. Give credit where credit is due. Recognize talent where you see it. Drop compliments where appropriate. Allow the person to shine in his/her own light.
6. Embrace differences while building on commonalities.
Everyone is different. At the same time, there are always commonalities across people. For the differences, embrace them. They make all of us unique. Agree to disagree if there are clashes in ideas.As you talk to the other person, look for commonalities between you and him/her.
Once you find a common link, build on it. Use that as a platform to spin off more discussions which will then reveal more about both of you. For the new commonalities that get unveiled, build on them further.
7. Be true to yourself.
Your best asset is your true personality. Don’t cover it up. It’ll be pretty boring if all you do is mime the other person’s words during a conversation; there wouldn’t be anything to discuss at all. Be ready to share your real thoughts and opinions (not in a combative manner of course—see #3). Be proud of what you stand for and be ready to let others know the real you.
8. 50-50 sharing.
I always think that a great conversation should be made up of equal sharing by both parties. Sometimes it may be 40-60 or 60-40 depending on the circumstances, but by and large, both parties should have equal opportunities to share and contribute to the conversation.What this means is that you should be sensitive enough to pose questions to the other party if you have been talking for a while.
It also means that you should take the initiative to share more about yourself if the other party has been sharing for the most part. Just because the person doesn’t ask doesn’t mean you can’t share; sometimes people don’t pose questions because it is not in their natural self to do so.
9. Ask purposeful questions.
Questions elicit answers. The kind of questions you ask will steer the direction of the conversation. To have a meaningful conversation with the other person, ask meaningful questions. Choose questions like, “What drives you in life?”, “What are your goals for the next year?” and “What inspired you to make this change?” over “What did you do yesterday?” and “What are you going to do later?”.
Some people may not be ready to take on conscious questions, and that’s fine. Start off with the simple, trivial, everyday questions as you build a rapport. Then, get to know the person better through deeper, more revealing questions—when you think the person is ready to share.
10. Give and take.
Sometimes people say pretty weird stuff during conversations. For example, a critical comment here and there, a distasteful remark, and a bad joke. Don’t judge them for those comments; treat these blurts as Freudian slips. Usually I just laugh or shrug it off; it makes for funny conversation banter.

关注正能量
也就是说与其谈论过去的悲伤,不如去讨论未来的目标。与其谈论今天早晨洒在你桌子上的咖啡,不如谈论一下晚上你想看的电影。偶尔谈论一下“负面”话题(能产生负面情绪的话题)也是可以的, 但最好是当你觉得对方也能接受并且有特定目的时(比如,更好地了解对方或和对方建立联系)。
交谈而不是辩论(争吵)
谈话应该是交流观点的平台,而不是一对一的硝烟战场。准备交谈、谈论和清理想法,态度要和蔼。没有必要每次讨论都要下结论或达成一致。如果每次都谈有争议的内容,那么谈话会非常吃力。如果无法达到共识,可以让事物处于开放状态。
尊重
不要强加、批评或评判。尊重他人的观点,尊重他人的空间——不要侵犯他人的隐私除非建立了共同的联系;尊重他人的个人选择——不要批评或评判。每个人都有自己的权利成为他/她自己, 就像你有权利成为你自己一样。
看别人最好的方面
总是去看别人好的一面。该赞美时就赞美。看到才能要识别出来。在适当的时候对别人加以赞美。让别人展出自己最好的一面。
求同存异
每个人都是不同的。在同一时刻,人们都有着共性。对不同之处,要加以拥抱。正是这些不同之处才让我们每个人都独一无二。如果想法有冲突,则求同存异。当你和他人交谈时,寻找你和他/她的共同之处。
一旦你找到了共同的地方,在它上面建造你们的关系。把它作为一个平台,进行更多的讨论,这样你们都会更好地了解彼此。对于发现的新的共同之处,可以在这个基础上进一步交流。
做真实的自己
你最好的资本是你真实的个性,不要把它掩盖起来。如果你所做的就是在谈话中模仿另一个人说话那会非常单调;根本就没有什么可以谈论的。准备好分享自己真实的想法和观点(不要用好斗的方式——参见#3)。对自己的立场感到自豪,并让别人认识真正的你。
50-50分享
我总是在想,好的谈话应当是由双方共同分享组成的。根据环境,有时可能是40-60,有时可能是60-40,但是总的来说,双方应该有平等的机遇来分享和参与谈话。也就是说你应该足够敏感,如果你已经说了一会儿了,应该能够对对方提出问题。
这也意味着如果大部分的内容是由对方分享的,那你应该主动分享自己的想法。别人不问不代表这你不能分享;有时人们不问问题是因为他们天生不愿这样做。
询问有意义的问题
问题会引出答案。你问的问题代表着谈话的方向。要想和他人有有意义的谈话,就得问有意义的问题。可以选择这样的问题,如“在生活中什么事情激励着你前行?”,”你明年的目标是什么?”以及“什么让你做出这样的改变?”,而不是问“昨天你做了什么?”、“一会儿你要做什么?”
有些人可能不想回答意识层面的问题,没关系。从简单、琐碎的、日常的问题开始,逐步建立关系。然后,通过进一步、更加揭露性的问题来更好地了解对方——当你认为对方已经愿意分享时。
给予和接受
有时人们在谈话时会说一些很奇怪的内容。例如,到处都有批评的评论、令人反感的话、糟糕的笑话。不要因为他们的那些评论而对他们加以评判;把这些脱口而出的话看成是弗洛伊德口误。通常情况下我只是笑笑或耸耸肩;它也使得谈话轻松有趣。

改革后的四六级,让人吐槽叫人无奈,考生很多单词不会写, 但也不能空着, 到后面就自己创造单词,那么如何备战英语四六级?
1.首先要知道,四六级考试有35%都是听力
如果像一般学生那样先拿本单词书背背,早上读读课文,考前一个周六做2份真题,真题里的送的mp3又嫌痛苦不好好听,那基本这次考试你很悬了。
很少有人知道的是同样程度的2个学生,花同样的努力,阅读能力很难提高,而听力却可以短期快速提升。因为阅读需要至少词汇、语法、英美文化知识和逻辑能力四大支撑,这四项都不是短期可以提高的,听力却不同,四六级听力基本就是考查对关键词(包括一些否定词、时间词、习惯用语词)的敏感程度,所听到的词汇都是一般学生已经熟知的,只是没有建立与听觉的联系。
因为这些原因,同样努力的2个学生,一个复习听力,一个复习阅读,复习听力的可能多得25%~30%的分,复习阅读的,可能只能多得10%
那么,如何提高听力题的成绩呢?
这个分问题展开来说,就是:如何提高听觉对上述特定关键词的敏感程度呢?答曰:真题录音单曲循环。
简单来说就是在空闲的时候,比如上思想政治课时,上下学的路上,闲逛的时候,有意识或无意识地单曲循环一套真题。比如你去食堂排队,可以把听力开着,队伍不动时,就分心听2下。不要小看这种可能当时无意识、无效果的“听噪音”,一套题不过30分钟左右,一上午循环5,6次,加上有的题目句子念很多遍,你已经能像展开一张揉皱的纸一样把能听出来的词全听出来了。还听不出的就是你可以提高的地方。
然后!!打开真题解析,对照录音脚本,看那些你听了十几遍都没听出来的到底是什么,然后再做题,这时就是找出题的套路和潜规则了。
这35%的听力其实非常好练,如果能每天坚持这样循环一套题+看录音脚本(路上时间需要约2小时,读脚本1小时),到考试那天,你会觉得啊听力读得好慢啊,顺说一句,先看题,后听。
当然一般学生可能没法每天都练,基本上能消化十套题左右就很了不起了。
2.然后给大家介绍我自己发明的快速背单词法
说起背单词,网上攻略汗牛充栋,但你读来读去大牛们都告诉你,背单词这是个苦功夫,不能着急,也没有捷径。要我说,呵呵,捷径一直有,就看你知不知道(好贱……)
第一,为考四级背单词不等于增加词汇量,增加词汇量是个苦功夫,但“只背四级试卷上的词”不是。
四级试卷大纲有4、5千要求掌握的词汇,想先背完大纲词汇再去做阅读的人,基本上背到一小半就放弃了,而他们背的这一小半呢,有可能出现在试卷上的也就几个而已……
那怎么办,时间只有一个月,要做到“只背试卷上会出现的词”,还快速背,怎么办?
干货:
a,先买一本“分频四级词典”,就是按真题里的原题文本电脑统计的词汇,先是出现5次以上的,大半本,然后是4次的,然后3次,一直到大纲里有
那么书买了,怎么快速提高词汇量呢?
答曰:代入下列原则做真题:
A,真题卷子里遇到的任何“生词”,——只要意思不确认知道,哪怕刚看过,又忘了,也算生词——,都在《分频词典》里查,查到之后,在词典里这个词下面划一条线!!然后把此词的意思抄到真题纸上,只抄意思,会音标的标音标,然后继续阅读!!!
B,一套真题做下来,你需要做的仅仅是把生词从《分频词典》里查出,做上标记,然后把汉语意思抄一遍。
C,这样做3,4套真题,用大约一周的晚自习时间或是一个周末的自习时间,你会发现!!《分频词典》里有几十个动词、和形容词被划线标记了七八次,他们的意思你也抄了十几次。再继续这么“处理真题”,你会发现,一大厚本《分频词典》,被标记多次的生词只有一二百个,但!!它们都是核心中的核心,是你的词汇水平从高中迈向大学的门槛!!现在,你通过查生词,把他们手工筛选出来了!!这些词不只是常用词!他们是命题人考查你的词汇停留在高中还是大学的标尺!!这些词之所以重要,是因为它们对理解文章起关键作用,并且是你无法推测得出的。而它们的意思你已经抄了很多遍,现在不用背,你已经记住了。
D,做完10套题(很可能你的时间/毅力/紧迫感只需要你做四、五套),你会发现最重要的生词通过反复查,你已经“眼熟”了,这时,选个早起的清醒的时间,开始翻《分频词典》,原则是:只看标记过的词典,没标记过的,略过。
大纲要求的词汇很多,但相当一部分是基本不会考的,比如各种不常用的名词像什么杨桃之类的,所以简单分频不能说明问题,自己划过的线才最可靠,并且你会发现被划最多的主要是动词和形容词,他们才是传达文意的核心。最多一上午,就能把分频词典过一遍,而且后面那些出现频率1~0的,不看也可以
好,上面说的是最直接的方法,下面补充一下为什么不必拿个词汇表去记,因为四级考试的阅读部分,根本不是考你‘写’词,而是考“眼熟”,你只需要大体知道一个词的样子,和联系起它的意思就可以了,所以以“能默写”为目标的背单词费劲很多,而且完全没有必要,按我上面的A-D步骤,很容易就建立印象,快速记词,考完就忘,以无牵挂。
3.怎样提高阅读能力
走到这一步,请确认做到我上面 的要求。如果做到,那么摆在你面前的应该是一份真题,而这份真题上所有你“不太熟悉”的“生词”,你都抄了意思在旁边。
现在回答这个问题:如果你不懂任何语法,但一个句子里所有的单词你都认识,那么你能猜出这个句子的意思吗?
严格来说,不能,也不可能。
但请回到本题,四级考试阅读的考查重点只是词汇,在“四级考试”的语境下,上面问题的答案基本上就是“能,差不多”。
没错,完全按项目2做过的真题,所有的生词你都查过了,意思也写在旁边了,现在在心里把文章翻译一下,看哪里还不懂?有不懂的,请联系一下上下文,猜一猜,然后,再对照“全文翻译”,这样对阅读能力的提高帮助非常大。

打开新2,先别看英语原文,因为都是初中程度的句子,你一看就会。先看汉语翻译,一句一句从汉语向英语口译,口译完,再看英文原文。因为这本的内容很浅显,你有很大机率口译得跟原文差不多,但别大意,最好写下来,跟原文不同的地方,就是你的进步之处!!!
做过几篇,你就发现你变牛了,你觉得一个句子,自己的写法可以,书上的写法也可以!!这时你就可以整篇小文地译了,译完,整体对比!!
如果你觉得新2比较散,可以口译带汉译的作文范文!那个句子土了点,不过见效快,一个搭配你没真掌握绝对译不出来,想破头再看原文,记忆效果加倍!!!
其他的什么临场技术,涂卡技术等,不多说了。
还有,准备期间,别听楼上的说什么“定好时间,训练节奏”,那都是学霸show off的学法,我们是提高为主,目的不是做题,想模拟,考前认真一套即可

PS,传统复习方法低效之处在于:它们无法把做(阅读)题的经历转化为能力的提高,一篇阅读理解做下来,一般人看得似懂非懂,后面的题也是猜,遇到长难句看看翻译,这样做多少篇都不会有实质的提高,
我的办法就是,只要读到不熟的词,就把它的意思抄一遍,并在词典里标记,翻词典只翻有标记的,看完词典,再去重看读过的阅读理解,反复“在阅读中记单词”。
同时,很多单词我都认识,但我不会写,因为我知道没必要抄单词达到“会默”的程度。也是中学老师曾经说过,教学的目的有2层,第一层是“再认”,就是给教你个东西,你到别的地方能把它再识别出来;而另一种更高要求是“再现”,就是这个东西学过了,你要能自己在需要的时候写出来。阅读就是考“眼熟”,所以只需要达到“再认”就可以了。

更新几点:
1.所谓“遇到生词就查出来、做标记、然后抄意思在旁边”的精髓是:一个词,不管已经查过多少次,其意思抄过多少次,只要在新做的真题里又遇到时,你还是没法90%确定它的意思,就仍按“生词”处理,再抄一次,这样,才会出现“一个词的意思抄过十几遍”的结果——因为它高频,并且因为你十几次都没记住。
2.有时一个词不是生词,你知道它的意思,全句也没有所谓“生词”,但此句子的意思你猜不出,这时,如果有心,可以再查一次那些核心的动词的意思,一般它有你不认识的“熟词生义”。
归纳来说,任给一篇阅读里的一个句子(限于四六级考试),你猜不出它的意思,只有2个可能,一是有“生词”你没抄意思在旁边,二是有“熟词生义”你不知道。解决这2的办法都是查词典,换句话说,词典不是只有生词才查的。
我自己做练习时是本着上面的思路,把一篇文章的每句话都搞懂,统篇去把握作者思路的变化,然后才答题的。
3.4、6级考试模式基本相同,我自己几乎感觉不出难度上有什么不一致,所以本攻略可以放心大胆地应用于6级,只把相应的书换成六级的就行。
4.以前做英语卷,做过的卷就是废纸,但按我的方法,带生词意思的英语卷是宝贝,存放好,经常翻一下,比什么单词本好用多了。单词本离开了语境,不利于建立词形与词义的联系。

关于作题技巧
因为时间太久,记不清楚了,模糊地说几点:
1.听力开始听之前,先把题干都读了,对于预判听力内容比较有帮助
2.阅读题先读“题干”而不读选项,这是为了方便读文章时有针对性细读,不读选项是防止先入为主造成干扰
3.我有一个习惯,就是阅读中遇到任何“大写”的东西,比如人名、机构名、时间、地点,我都圈起来。因为后面的选项基本很容易涉及这些大写的名字指代的东西,圈出后,回头查找很方便
4.作文是先写汉语草稿或是腹稿,再翻译成英语。这是按我上面作文捷径的练习方法来的,直接写英语,很容易写2句就写不下去了。
5.看带英语字幕的美剧对听力帮助很大,我进入大学后就给自己立了个规矩,电影、电视剧只看双字幕的,并且会注意去看英语字幕的内容
说个题外话,长期看美剧我对美音和英音比较敏感,听四级还是六级听力的时候,因为觉得读得太慢,就力争每个词都听出来,那时发现个很有趣的现象,2个朗读的人,一个发的英音,一个发的美音
6.接上条,高中学习的英语主要是英国的素材,有很多英式英语里才有的词汇,而四六级考试,包括以后的考研英语,美式英语都占绝大多数,很多过去熟悉的词都不再用了,这点需要注意

那年我小学刚刚毕业,凭借数学上的天赋顺利进入了本市最好初中的最好班级。我的语文烂的一塌糊涂,连拼音都认不全(本来以为其他同学也是如此,后来发现只有我这么不开窍)。由于严重缺少“语言天赋”,小升初那个暑假几乎每天都在补习,补习什么?提前学习初中英文。我爸不放心其他人,专门安排我表姐(现在是高中英语骨干教师,当时还在上大学)每天辅导我英语。记得那个暑假快结束了,表姐跟我爸说,他语言天赋真不行。年纪还小,当时也没太在意别人说什么。
迷迷糊糊上了初中,班主任即英语老师,据说是当时本市最德高望重的英语老师(后来没几年就退休了)。尽管我爸多次给老师打招呼多多关照我,但大半年下来,我的英语不但垫底全班,而且因为有几次测验连续全班第一被举报抄袭答案,名声不但跌到谷底,而且很多同学跑来跟我要测试题答案。抄袭确有其事,当时因为我成绩差,我爸问他在教育局的朋友要了一整套英语测试题,结果这套测试题跟我们平时测试用的题一模一样,而且还附带答案。当时每天是这样度过的:早自习要听写单词,老师一进教室就感觉世界末日来了。听写单词总会有一多半写不出来,就算左顾右看也会因为时间不够有很多单词写不出。于是晚上回去罚抄单词就成了常事,次数多了就得请家长,当时每个月总有那么几天想找个洞钻进去。做测试题也是备受煎熬,不写完中午就没法去吃饭,晚上成绩出来就感觉没脸在同学面前抬起头。那些日子,天真是阴郁到了极点,路上碰到英语老师都不敢抬头走。还好有父母每天起得比我早,睡得比我晚,陪着我呵护着我。后来几次测验,自尊心驱使我前一天晚上背诵答案,取得了几次不错的成绩。老师为了表扬我的进步,把班级成绩排名贴到教室门口,说是号召大家向我学习。结果同学没有一个相信我有这么厉害,下课都围过来。从来不说谎的我憋红了脸承认自己有答案。后来传到老师那里了没有,我不知道,但有一点却很清楚,自己在这个班级待不下去了。
初一下半年我换到了另一个重点班,班里的同学也是个个牛气冲天。后来才慢慢发现这个班的班主任也是英语老师,而且是我爸的朋友。这是个女老师,有个比我们小六七岁的儿子,刚刚因为能力强从另外一个中学调过来。这个老师黑黑的,其貌不扬,不过平时蛮注意自己的形象,打扮得还算干净,早上总会跑步过来上班。出乎我意料之外,这个老师并没有因为我爸跟她打过招呼而把我叫到办公室单聊。第一次上早自习也没有刻意过来给我打招呼或跟我眼神交流。好了,废话说到这,故事也该有点进展了,下面姑且称呼她为Y老师。
情景一(找个动机让自己愿意多花时间):
刚进新班级的时候,墙上贴了大家上学期成绩排名。总共五六十人的班级,我勉强排在了前二十名。虽然英语不行,但数学还是无敌的,语文还凑合。我下意识去搜索英语成绩最好的同学(虽然我英语成绩差,但上进心还是很强的),后来发现是一个长得清秀白皙的可爱女生。我当时心想,要是我能跟她同桌该多好,不但有助于提高英语,还能跟自己暗恋的女生朝夕相处(那时很单纯,长得好看加上成绩好就会喜欢的不行)。没想到Y老师还真把我和这个女生安排同桌了,吃惊之余也欣喜不已,阴暗枯燥的生活注入了些许盼望。后来Y老师回忆道,并非巧合,而是有意为之。原因一,因为我和那个女生都很好看,郎才女貌,原因二,因为我数学好,那个女生英语好,正好互相学习。哎妈呀,居然有这么懂人心的萌老师。当然这是后话了,而当时的事实是,我确实为了跟心上人套近乎,每天总是没完没了向她请教英语的问题。随着时间推移,我花在英语上的时间多了起来,慢慢不那么恐惧了。犯花痴的力量?
情景二(鼓励的力量):
记得那是第一个上讲台听写单词的早自习。因为之前一个学期的痛苦经历,我对听写单词有一种无法言说的恐惧,特别是上讲台在全班同学面前听写单词。当时每个小组要点一个同学上台听写,我当时埋着头一动不敢动,生怕一动就叫了自己的名字。不知道大家有没有这样的体验,往往最担心发生的事总是在自己最不愿它发生的时候发生,发生得那么突然,让人有种堕落地狱的眩晕感。听到我的名字被大声叫出来,我憋红了脸慢吞吞站起来,驮着个背拖着飘忽的脚步来到黑板前,不敢回头看台下的同学。“数学竞赛大牛还害怕听写单词啊,大家有谁愿意跟他挑战,举手?”Y老师冲着台下的同学吼道。同学们纷纷举手挑战我,一共四位同学,我得了倒数第二,二十个单词有六个没写出来,结果完全在我意料之中。不同的是,这次我的心态完完全全发生了变化。之前,失败了总是接受现实,认为自己确实英语比不了别人;这次,却生平第一次有了不服的感觉,下了讲台心里咬咬牙默念道:下次一定超过你们所有人!这种变化源自什么?源自Y老师对我的鼓励。首先,Y老师在全班同学面前夸我数学很厉害,让我对自己重拾了信心。其次,她号召全班同学跟我挑战听写单词,言外之意就是我的单词一点不弱,你们谁想跟高手过过招。没有经历过的人永远不会知道这两句话在我心中的分量,这种鼓励式的肯定让我开始转变态度,从逃避害怕转向迎难而上。我转变态度,是为了对得起Y老师对我的肯定,在全班同学面前对我的肯定。我不能让她失望!
情景三 (维护已得荣誉)
还是初一下学期的时候,Y老师每周要求写一篇英语作文。第一周的主题是写公园见闻,已经记不清自己具体写了什么,那个时候估计也写不出什么能读的玩意。结果第一周Y老师出人意料地把我的作文当作范文向全班同学念了一遍,应该说是念一句分析一句,大体是说为什么好。即使时隔十多年,依然清清楚楚地记得当时Y老师开口的第一句:“XXX同学开头巧妙地运用了一个排比,意境简单而美妙,让清晨公园的美景跃然纸上”。我当时原文是“The sky is blue. The grass is green. The bird is singing.”。以“大人”的眼光来看,Y老师对我作文的评价矫情而夸大其实。但当时的我却生平第一次在英语课上感觉到了一种被肯定的喜悦,这是一种从未有过的感觉,之前积压许久的对英语的恐惧感瞬间消失了。之后每周写作文之前,我总会为了能继续被选作范文而翻遍各类作文书和资料书。后来我的作文又多次被当作范文来念,自信心于是越来越强。纠结我当时的作文是否达到范文的要求已经不重要了,关键是我那段时间慢慢开始坚信(而且信以为真),我的英语作文是班上写的最好的之一。 更重要的是,坚持了几个月之后,我的词汇量,句式多样性,语感都不知不觉有了很大提高。回首这段,我觉得是Y老师找了一个切入点(作文)赋予我一种荣誉感,我为了维护这种荣誉变得愿意花更多时间去经营。
情景四 (奖励的魔力)
那时我们每周会有两次英语测验,一次是市教委出的题,一次是英语周报里的题。当时我的英语应试能力已经可以跃居全班前十名了,偶尔还能考个前三名。我的成绩并不拔尖,也不稳定,不过相比一年前的自己好了不少,至少已经赢得了其他人的尊重和自己内心的安稳。当时班上确实有几个同学成绩一直排前几,我心里只是想他们确实比我优秀啊,不服不行。学期刚过一个月,Y老师宣布了一个奖励政策,就是每次测验的前三名每人可以得到一个笔记本,最高分另加一个笔记本,如果是满分就可以得到三个。自从Y老师宣布了这个政策,我变得更加用心了,每次测验完后不懂或做错的地方马上去请教那些做对的同学。没过多久,我开始持续稳坐全班第一的宝座,最差没低于第二,有两次拿了满分。记得有一次因为一道题去请教一个同学,他忿忿地说“你丫拿笔记本都拿到手软了,还来问我们”。记得学期结束的时候,我箱子里有不少于二十个笔记本。后来我几乎成了班级第一的代名词,同学们有问题都来问我。其实我并不在意物质本身(笔记本),而是那种对荣誉的渴望让我愿意花更多时间去钻研自己不懂的。
情景五 (第一次走出舒适区)
虽然我的英语应试能力有了很大改观,但总的来说当时的我非常内向,从来没有在公共场合讲过话,更别提在公共场合讲英文。那时我们才初一下学期,词汇量还非常非常有限。我们学校初一下学期开始有外教教学。尽管学校给外教配了翻译,Y老师也偶尔客串翻译,但翻译的事还是经常捉襟见肘。当时Y老师没有征求我的意见,直接推荐我当翻译,作为外教和同学之间沟通的桥梁。我的天呐,我自己都没开口说过几次英文,在课堂上用英语回答问题都结结巴巴的,关键是从来没有跟外国人那么近距离交谈过,想想都觉得恐怖啊,杀了我吧。我因此好几天睡不好觉。后来事实证明,我虽然跟外教没法清楚表达自己的意思,外教好像也没有把我吃掉的意思。令我惊讶的是,原来外教给人感觉好亲切耶!不但请我去她的公寓玩,还请我吃冰淇淋,时间一久也就开始放开胆说话,虽然自己说来说去就那么几句简单句子,还硬是装作很专业的样子。跟外教熟了,在她课上就非常肆无忌惮,每次到了演讲环节冷场的时候,我就上去解围。为此,我没有少课前精心准备演讲稿(虽然还是狗屁不通),但是那段经历确实让我积累了不少词汇和之前从来没有见过的句子。最最重要的是,我面对生人,面对公众不再有之前那种放不开。迈开了第一步,剩下的工作竟然显得那么容易!
情景六 (参与的力量)
初一下学期期末,学校筹划了一场双语汇报演出,将在全市范围内公演。下学期期中,外教就开始规划节目,挑选演员。Y老师在推荐演员的时候,首先想到的是她的得意门生。论综合实力,当时有两个同学排在我前面,但是前两个同学都以耽误学习为由拒绝了Y老师的邀请。我其实没什么主见,看到排在自己前面的同学不去演出,我也潜意识拒绝了Y老师的好意。心想:耽误了学习,岂不跟前面的两位越拉越远。后来Y老师另辟蹊径,从我父母那里入手,轻易说服了随波逐流的我去参加演出。当时其实我是不想去的,生怕耽误了学习,跟大家拉开了距离,而且还得牺牲周末补课的时间去剧院排演,心底里我是不想去的,对非常规的事物有种抗拒。由于父母的支持,我还是去了。回首那段时光,可以说是我在中学阶段做过最明智的决定,或者说是我父母联合Y老师帮我做的最明智的决定。我当时学会了唱几乎所有的奥斯卡名曲会告诉你吗?还有迈克杰克逊和甲壳虫,会告诉你吗?我当时能把《白雪公主》的台词背得滚瓜烂熟会告诉你吗?还有,还有,我在最后演出的话剧里面亲吻了“白雪公主”会告诉你吗?丢脸的是,当初挑选白马王子演员的时候,我并不知道“Prince”是王子的意思,外教当时坚持让我演,我就同意了,结果厚着脸皮当了一回白马王子,在全市父老乡亲面前。不得不说,这次参与演出我牺牲了正经的学习,但收获了眼界,经历,和自信。书本上的东西随时可以学,但这些经历不是每个人都有机会获得的。
情景七 (面对机会的动力)
初中毕业的时候,优秀的学生可以全奖留学新加坡,这是我们学校的传统。记得初二的某一天,Y老师给我单独讲了去留学的好处。我听得热血澎湃,对未知世界的向往更是让我好几天兴奋得睡不着。我当时暗暗发誓,我一定要去新加坡。毕业的时候排名全校前几十名对我来说不是什么问题,现在关键是口语面试这一关。从那一刻起,我几乎每天坚持听《疯狂英语》(那时李阳还没什么负面新闻),坚持和我表姐模拟面试可能问到的东西,坚持找机会和外教交流,更让人吃惊的是,我居然会用ICQ去找老外网友搭讪。真是为了达到出国目的,我可以“不择手段”地去提高自己的英语啊。也许不自知,但我感觉自己的口语就是在那个时候提高和收获信心的。PS: 虽然后来有机会去新加坡,父母经过再三考虑,以年龄太小没吃过苦为由拒绝了我。
情景八 (给予信任)
你们可以想象这样一个情景吗?一个英语老师把整整一个章节的内容交给一个初二的学生来面向全班教授,而且自己不参与备课讲课的任何一个环节。当时Y老师给我提这个的时候,我竟然没有一丝推辞,信心十足地认为自己已经具备足够知识和能力备好讲好这章的课。我夜以继日,花了整整一个星期,做了比足够更足够的准备。还很清楚记得当时上讲台的情形,自己已经自信到闲庭信步,笑容收放自如的地步。我当时的目标就是,趣味性第一,争取让害怕英语的同学爱上英语,参与性第二,争取让平时不敢在英语课上发言的同学走出舒适区,知识性虽然很重要,我还是把它放在了最后,因为我当时已经深深意识到前两点才是关键。课堂反响也如预期一样,看到平时不参与的同学参与进来,每个人都能在充满趣味的游戏中获取知识,平时不服我的同学也工工整整做好笔记,我心里有种成就感,之前从未有过。如果说这个经历给我什么提高,那就是让我能站在一个更高的角度思考问题,角度高了,需要学习和准备的知识自然要多很多,看底下的问题也就容易很多。
情景九(以身作则)
记得上初二那会黎姿版的《倚天屠龙记》正在热播,作为一个青春期少年,对赵敏的喜爱根本无法克制。每次下晚自习回到家总是忍不住打开看一集。那时正好赶上备考全国中学生英语竞赛,于是Y老师提议几个入围决赛的同学去她家做模拟试卷。当时在Y老师家里,我差点就没忍住去开电视机看赵敏,我知道这也是其他几个男同学的强烈愿望。Y老师本可以好好休息一下,看看当时热播的韩剧,但她没有。记得当时她趁我们做题,忍不住打开了电视,后来看我们分心了马上决绝地关了电视。我当时被感动得一塌糊涂,在竞赛之前再也没有提过赵敏的事。
情景十 (封神)
到了初二期末,中考来了。我们初二也跟着一起参加了当年的中考,提前体验一下实战的感觉。于是不可思议的事情发生了。我作为一个初二的学生拿了150分(满分),当年参加中考的最高分也不过146分。当中还有一段趣事:听Y老师说,我起初只有148分,于是我作为最高分的试卷引起了阅卷组的注意。按照“标准答案”,我错了一道完形填空题,后来大家研究了一下那道题,竟然多数老师认为标准答案有误,我的答案才是对的。后来,虽然中考最后分数无法更改,但还是明确了标准答案的错误。没错,我是满分,全市唯一的满分,而且是初二。后来我的事迹被英语教研室的老师传开了,有时走在校园里都会有陌生同学跟我搭讪。当时真的有同学把我当作神,但我自己很清楚,自己最多只是一个考试机器而已,平时比别人多付出了一点而已。悲哀的是,人们一般不看你的付出,只是津津乐道于你所行的“神迹”。

学好英语本身可能根本不值一提,只是这段经历给了我自信,无与伦比的自信,这个比什么都重要。我深深地懂得,只要我肯付出,无论我有多笨,我依然可能成功,依然可以做得比任何人都好。雄鹰可以到达金字塔顶端,蜗牛也可以。由于这段特殊的经历,我有幸和以后的每一任英语老师关系紧密;由于这段特殊的经历,我可以在英语演讲辩论中丝毫不输那些训练有素的同学;由于这段特殊的经历,我可以在毫无准备的情况下考托福出国。影响是深远的,远远不止这些。我感谢在自己还没有主见的年纪,拥有这样一个好老师,让我一小步一小步建立了自信,让我相信我很笨,但我仍然能做好事情,只要肯付出。
不公平
我的故事可能比较特殊,Y老师对我照顾有加,这个对其他同学确实不公平。我的初中同学时至今日依然有人对这个耿耿于怀。如果忽略这点,我的故事还是有很多值得借鉴的地方。
语言天赋
我的英语好,我爸妈就理所当然认为我有语言天赋。事实证明,这个命题并不正确。我语文一直很差。我大学一年级选修俄语,目前为止是我得分最低的一门课:六十分。日语是软件工程必修课,我坚持过,还是放弃了。法语是加拿大官方语言,我执着过,也放弃了。我对语言的兴趣并不大。我想表达的是,我英语好跟我有语言天赋没有半毛钱关系。

我能走到现在,可以说是个奇迹。如果我没有遇到Y老师,我真的不敢想象自己会在哪里。我经常在公开场合表达一个观点,虽然父母为了我付出了很多别人父母都做不到的东西,但要说对我人生影响最大的人,无疑是Y老师。
父母经常会给我表扬或批评,但他们很少给我鼓励。鼓励,我认为是Y老师给我最大的财富。这是一个差生向优生转变的关键。再者,就是不要一口气给自己设一个大目标,比如说我要一年精通法语这样的大目标。最好是设定一个一个小目标,然后各个击破,慢慢积累,有一天你会不经意发现你的法语能力发生了质的变化。我从一个差生到一个优生用了一年半的时间,这过程中Y老师为我设定了一个一个小的目标(一个情景即一个目标)。面对大目标,你可能会觉得害怕或不知所措;但面对一个一个小目标,你很容易明白自己需要做什么,怎么做。攻克所有小目标,大目标自然就实现了。
征服一座山峰可能看起来没那么容易,但是征服一个一个小山丘还是胸有成竹的。越过了一个一个小山丘,你自然来到了山峰的另一边。
还有很重要一点,Y老师总是能让我产生这样一种错觉:我是英语天才,在英语方面我就该是所有同学中最优秀那个,唯一的霸主。乔布斯说过,只有疯狂到认为自己足以改变世界的人才有可能改变世界。潜意识里认为自己可以改变世界的人,才有可能改变世界;潜意识里认为自己理应是某个领域的霸主,你才有可能成为这个领域的霸主。
忘了说一件事,Y老师的儿子去年刚刚上大学,据说跟我当年一样优秀,至少在英语方面也封神了。事有巧合,还是Y老师的育人方法是可以复制的?

Positive thinking is a significant element of happiness. In order to become a positive thinker,determination and consistency are important. The first thing to know about positive thinking is that everyone can do it. With certain cognitive and behavioral modifications, we can all become positive thinkers. Another important factor is that being a positive thinker does notmean you become numb to anything that is not working properly in your life or is negative — it just means that you approach life and face challenges with a healthier outlook.
To become a positive thinker, these may help you:
正面思考是幸福的重要组成部分。要想成为一个积极的思考者,决心和毅力必不可少。首先你要知道,每个人都能成为积极思考者。只要改善一定的认知和行为,我们都可以做到。另外一个很重要的因素就是:你不需要对那些不是很完美的事情麻木不仁或是带有悲观的色彩——只是说人生和挑战你都要积极的对待。

1. Change your self-monitoring:

Instead of selectively attending to negative events, focus on the positive ones. Then pay attention to the delayed consequences of your behavior rather than the immediate ones. For example, if a job is not going like you want, focus on the fact that you have a job and how you can take your time to make the situation better.

For example, if you constantly compare your weaknesses with other peoples' strengths, then switch this and compare yourself with those who are doing poorer than you as well. Overall, people who focus more on their strengths than their weaknesses but at the same time are aware of their weaknesses have a healthier self-evaluation result.

Black and white thinking based on perfectionistic thought is counterproductive. Every time a thought pops up and has words like “should” or “must,” challenge it. For example, instead of saying “this should be done this way,” say something like, “I prefer it this way but I am sure there are other ways to do and am willing to be open.

8. Challenge your “what if” thoughts:
改变那些“假使……”的想法:
When faced with too much fear about a situation, imagine the worst case scenario and visualize a solution for it, then let go of fear. This way, you will be prepared for anything and your fear would not block you from being open and creative to different solutions. For example, if you are constantly worried about losing your job up to a point where it is creating a lot of anxietyand fear and is effecting your performance and your happiness negatively, then think of losing your job, visualize how you will handle it, find solutions in your mind and then let go of the thought and the fear attached to it.
遇到太多的恐慌,想想最糟糕的的情况吧,设想一下那样的场景,然后把恐惧丢到脑后。这样你就算是做足了准备,恐惧感也不会再阻碍到你对于不同情景的创造力。例如,如果你总是担心失业,十分的焦虑和害怕,甚至影响到了你的表现和幸福,那么就想想如果你真的失业了,你会如何处理,自己想一想解决方案,然后就果断抛弃这些消极的想法和恐惧吧。
At the end, positive thinkers are better problem solvers and have better interactions. Inaddition to that, people who are positive thinkers are happier and more satisfied with their life.
最后,积极思考者都更善于解决问题,更好的与人交际。除此之外,那些积极思考者会更开心更知足。

那么如何能够更好地去做完这个阅读,还能做得很准确,阅读理解的第一步就是什么,就是先局部去找这个题目答案的位置。通过读5个题目先找到位置,因为你会发现找到这个位置后你会发现,5道题目对应了5个地方,这5个地方并不涵盖文章100%的信息,可能这5个地方只涵盖40%的信息。你只要把这40%读懂就可以了。所以为什么说你要想做快啊,或把题目做准了最主要的问题,首先还是要找对这个题目所对应的位置。也就拿我们的专业术语来说,也就叫定位的问题。就如果你把题目定得越准,当然你做得就越快,那么答案出来得也就越准确。所以我们很多同学在平时做题时会发现,我文章读懂了,为什么题目全错了?就是因为你会发现就是因为你文章全读懂之后,你四个选项在文章里面全部都有体现出来,所以这时候你就不知道该怎么排除了。但如果你的题目要是定位得很准,你就知道答案就在这个区域当中,所以四个选项你一看,发现有3个选项的区别没有体现,就会知道应该选哪一个。这样的话就会又快又准了。所以说还是定位为主的。
