Golden sunlight danced in the treetops, andchildren's laughter filled the park. The smell ofpopcorn played on the breeze, and life seemed good.It was one of the happiest Saturday mornings I hadspent with my little daughter, Gigi.
That is, until two strangers threw her into their carand sped away. It seemed like a bad dream. I couldbarely whisper when the police questioned me. Forhours we waited, but there was no word on the whereabouts of the car. Tears would start tocome. Then nothing. I was numb with fear.
"Go home, Ma'am," the sergeant said. "I'll have an officer drive you. We'll also want to monitoryour telephone. The kidnappers might call, and we'll want to get a trace. Trust me, these guyscan't get far." After what had just happened, it was hard for me to trust anything.
My friend Gloria came over that afternoon. "I heard about Gigi on the radio," she said. "Everyone is looking for the car. The interstates are all blocked." She took my hand.
"Look here," Gloria said. "I want you have this picture, and I want you to pray with me."
It was a picture of a little girl sound asleep in her bed. Standing by the bed was a tall, blondangel. His hand was touching the girl's shoulder as he smiled down at her.
My nerves were frazzled. "You know I don't believe in that kind of thing!" I snapped. "I'm tooexhausted for any hocus-pocus right now, Gloria! I want my daughter home!" I started toshake, and then I began sobbing.
Gloria placed the photo on our mantle and knelt down beside me. "Just pray with me," she said, holding my hand.
I had no strength left, so we prayed and waited what seemed an eternity. Together, we waitedby the phone until sundown. The phone never rang.
Suddenly, the front door swung open. I looked up and screamed.
There stood Gigi. "Gigi! Thank God!" I cried, throwing my arms around her. "Where did thosemen take you? How did you get home? Did the police find you?"
"No Mommy!" said Gigi. "I was real scared because those men said they were taking me faraway. We were going real fast on an old rock road I'd never seen before. But then a tall manwalked out in front of the car, and they ran off the road and hit a tree.
Then the tall man ran up and opened the car door and pulled me out. He was real nice, and saidI would be okay now, and that those men couldn't hurt me. I must have gone to sleep, becausethen I woke up here in front of our house. He must have brought me home."
"But who … how did he know … where to bring you?" My voice broke and trailed to a whisper.
"I don't know, Mommy," Gigi said. "But he was real friendly, and I wasn't scared of him at all."
Just then Gigi noticed Gloria's picture on the mantle. "That's him!" She squealed, pointing at thepicture. "Mommy, the tall blond man dressed like an angel. That's the man that pulled me out ofthe car!"
I felt chill-bumps across my neck and arms. Gloria turned pale. "Are you sure that's the man?"Gloria asked.
"Yeah, that's him okay. Except he didn't have wings, and he was wearing blue jeans and a teeshirt. But that's him exactly. I'd remember him anywhere!"
Later that night, the police found the injured kidnappers in their wrecked car fifty miles from ourhome. When questioned, the driver remembered swerving to avoid hitting a tall blond man. Thebackseat door that Gigi sat by had been completely torn off its hinges.
Twenty years have gone by. We have never heard from anyone claiming to have rescued Gigi. There have been no logical explanations for Gigi's miraculous escape and return home from awreck so far away.
There have always been things that people can't explain. But, from that day forward, I've neverdoubted that many of those things are divine miracles. I believe that all experiences, positiveand negative, are given to us for our strengthening and learning.
Gigi now takes her little girl to the park on Saturdays. They enjoy the sunlight as it dances inthe treetops, the smell of popcorn, and the laughter of children. She keeps Gloria's picture onher mantle, and she re- members her angelic friend. And, like my daughter, I have a faith thathas carried me through many trials since that day many years ago.

Yes this may be surprising, I was only 13 years old that time. But, don't know how or why ithappened to me so early. I fell deeply in love with a guy, who I used to think was annoying 2months ago.
It was 1997, in Chittagong, Bang- ladesh, me and my family have just moved to a newapartment in a new area. So, after few weeks have passed, I started going back to school, sinceit was during Ramadan we moved. Well, I made some new friends in the neighborhood. This girlwho was always hanging out with, her name was Ivy.
One day when I was going to school, I bumped into Ivy on the way out of my building, and shewas standing next to this guy, he lived in the building right beside mine. He said “Hi” to me, andwe just asked each other “how are you” and blah blah, then I had to leave. But I noticed thatguy was looking at me. It was a different kind of look, look with love in his eyes. Few days later,I noticed whenever I go to school and come back from school, he is standing in his balcony, andsmiling at me. If he is not around, and one of his friends see me, they start to yell out hisname. Oh yeah, by the way, his name was Mamun.
So, I was very annoyed by those things. And I even told Ivy to tell Mamun to stop thesefoolishness. After my exams were over, I had a break. So I used to go to the roof and readbooks to spend my time. Mamun used to come to their roof also and both roofs where so closeto each other that you can just jump from one to another.
Once I was reading a book, and I noticed Mamun come to their roof and he looked at me, andsmiled. OH MY GOD! I don't know what happened to me. That sweet smile just took me away. Ismiled back at him, for the first time. I could never forget that moment. We used to smile ateach other whenever we saw each other, but never had a chat. I was sure that he liked me alot, because, anytime he would see me on the roof from his balcony, he came up to the roofright away. I fell in love with him very deeply. I was surprised that I did. The feelings I had wasso beautiful and made me so happy.
Mamun did come to my roof one day to talk to me but I wanted him to go away. I didn't wantany one to see us talking. As you know, in Bangladesh rumors go around so fast. When wetalked, I saw deep love in his eyes. I always smiled at him; I didn't talk to him much. Still, lifewas going on so wonderfully. Mamun never told me he loved me. I thought that was because, Iwas 5/6 years younger than him.
Very soon, I found out that me and my family are leaving Bang- ladesh and coming to Canada. Iwas devas- tated. I cried all night but there was nothing to do. When Mamun found out, heasked me on the roof, if it was true. When I said yes, he asked how long will I be in Canada. The answer was maybe forever, we were going to settle in Canada. He looked depressed, all hesaid was “Oh”, then I told him out flight date.
The next month, it was Ramadan again. Mamun came to say good bye to me on the roof, hewas leaving to spend his Eid with his family. That day, I was so sad, I felt like I lost somethingvery important in my life. We said goodbye to each other, he said he thinks I am such a sweetgirl, he hopes I have a great life in Canada. Oh my god, I couldn't hold myself, I think my eyesbecame watery. I didn't want him to see that I was crying. I said “you too” and tried to smileand left the roof right away.
That was the last day I ever saw my first love. Now 4 years later, here I am in CANADA. I haveguy in my life now, whom I am deeply love with after Mamun. I never lose him.
I am ... over Mamun now. Everytime I remember those days, looking at each other on the roof, talking, I feel really down. I wonder where he is now, if we will even meet again... I can neverforget my first love.

My l4-year-old son, John, and I spotted the coat simultaneously. It was hanging on a rack ata secondhand clothing store in Northampton Mass, crammed in with shoddy trench coats andan assortment of sad, woolen overcoats -- a rose among thorns.
While the other coats drooped, this one looked as if it were holding itself up. The thick, blackwool of the double-breasted chesterfield was soft and unworn, as though it had beenpreserved in mothballs for years in dead old Uncle Henry's steamer trunk. The coat had ablack velvet collar, beautiful tailoring, a Fifth Avenue label and an unbelievable price of $28. Welooked at each other, saying nothing, but John's eyes gleamed. Dark, woolen topcoats werepopular just then with teenage boys, but could cost several hundred dollars new. This coatwas even better, bearing that touch of classic elegance from a bygone era.
John slid his arms down into the heavy satin lining of the sleeves and buttoned the coat. Heturned from side to side, eyeing himself in the mirror with a serious, studied expression thatsoon changed into a smile. The fit was perfect.
John wore the coat to school the next day and came home wearing a big grin. "Ho. did the kidslike your coat?" I asked. "They loved it," he said, carefully folding it over the back of a chair andsmoothing it flat. I started calling him "Lord Chesterfield" and "The Great Gatsby."
Over the next few weeks, a change came over John. Agreement replaced contrariness, quiet, reasoned discussion replaced argument. He became more judicious, more mannerly, morethoughtful, eager to please. "Good dinner, Mom," he would say every evening.
He would generously loan his younger brother his tapes and lecture him on the niceties ofbehaviour; without a word of objection, he would carry in wood for the stove. One day when Isuggested that he might start on homework before dinner, John -- a veteran procrastinator -said, "You're right. I guess I will."
When I mentioned this incident to one of his teachers and remarked that I didn't know whatcaused the changes, she said laughing. "It must be his coat!" Another teacher told him she wasgiving him a good mark not only because he had earned it but because she liked his coat. At thelibrary, we ran into a friend who had not seen our children in a long time, "Could this be John?"he asked, looking up to John's new height, assessing the cut of his coat and extending hishand, one gentleman to another.
John and I both know we should never mistake a person's clothes for the real person withinthem. But there is something to be said for wearing a standard of excellence for the world tosee, for practising standards of excellence in though, speech, and behaviour, and for matchingwhat is on the inside to what is on the outside.
Sometimes, watching John leave for school, I've remembered with a keen sting what it felt liketo be in the eighth grade -- a time when it was as easy to try on different approaches to life asit was to try on a coat. The whole world, the whole future is stretched out ahead, a vastpanorama where all the doors are open. And if I were there right now, I would picture myselfwalking through those doors wearing my wonderful, magical coat.

I never thought that I understood her. She always seemed so far away from me. I loved her,of course. We shared mutual love from the day I was born. I came into this world with a bashedhead and deformed features because of the hard labor my mother had gone through. Familymembers and friends wrinkled their noses at the disfigured baby I was. They all commented onhow much I looked like a beat-up football player. But no, not her. Nana thought I was beautiful. Her eyes twinkled with splendor and happiness at the ugly baby in her arms. Her firstgranddaughter. Beautiful, she said.
Before final exams in my junior year of high school, she died. Seven years ago, her doctorsdiagnosed Nana with Alzheimer’s disease. Seven years ago, our family became experts on thisdisease as, slowly, we lost her.
She always spoke in fragmented sentences. As the years passed, the words she spokebecame fewer and fewer, until finally she said nothing at all. We were lucky to get one occasionalword out of her. It was then our family knew she was near the end.
About a week or so before she died, she lost the abilities for her body to function at all, andthe doctors decided to move her to a hospice. A hospice. Where those who entered would nevercome out.
I told my parents I wanted to see her. I had to see her. My uncontrollable curiosity hadtaken a step above my gut-wrenching fear.
My mother brought me to the hospice two days after my request. My grandfather and twoof my aunts were there as well, but all hung back in the hallway as I entered Nana’s room. Shewas sitting in a big, fluffy chair next to her bed, slouched over, eyes shut, mouth numblyhanging open. The morphine was keeping her asleep. My eyes darted around the room at thewindows, the flowers, and the way Nana looked. I was struggling very hard to take it all in,knowing that this would be the last time I ever saw her alive.
I slowly sat down across from her. I took her left hand and held it in mine, brushing a straylock of golden hair away from her face. I just sat and stared, motionless, in front of her, unableto feel anything. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. I could not get over howawful she looked sitting there, helpless.
Then it happened. Her little hand wrapped around mine tighter and tighter. Her voice beganwhat sounded like a soft howl. She seemed to be crying in pain. And then, she spoke.
“Jessica,” Plain as day. My name. Mine. Out of 4 children, 2 son-in-laws, 1 daughter-in-law,and 6 grandchildren, she knew it was me.
At that moment, it was like someone was showing a family filmstrip in my head. I saw Nanaat my baptizing. I saw her at my fourteen dance recitals. I saw her bringing me roses andbeaming with pride. I saw her tap dancing on our kitchen floor. I saw her pointing at her ownwrinkled cheeks and telling me that it was from her that I inherited my big dimples. I saw herplaying games with us grandkids while the other adults ate Thanksgiving dinner. I saw hersitting with me in my living room at Christmas time admiring our brightly decorated tree.
I then looked at her as she was...and I cried.
I knew she would never see my final senior dance recital. I knew she would never see mecheer for another football game. I knew she would never sit with me and admire our Christmastree again. I knew she would never see me go off to my senior prom. I knew she would neversee me graduate high school or college or see me get married. And I knew she would never bethere the day my first child was born. This made tear after tear roll down my face.
But above all, I cried because I finally knew how she had felt the day I had been born. Shehad looked through what she saw on the outside and looked to the inside and saw ... a life.
I slowly released her hand from mine and brushed away the tears staining her cheeks, andmine. I stood, leaned over, and kissed her.
“You look beautiful.”
And with one long last look, I turned and left the hospice.

Summer is all about sun, fun and beach parties. It’s time when you have an opportunity to relax andforget about college. But not all of you have this opportunity. Unless you are a daughter or a son ofwealthy parents, you have to look for the ways to make some extra cash during your summer break.Even if you are not a college student anymore, summer is a great season to start looking for yourdream job. When it comes to job search, it’s critical for you to find a job that you will enjoy doing.Without further ado, here are some tried and true tips on how to find the best summer job.
1. Discover your skills and talents
Many job seekers look for a job without knowing what talents they have and what skills they canoffer their employers. If you don’t know what skills you can offer your potential employer yet, try todiscover them. Think about what you can do and what skill can increase your chances of getting abetter paid job. Even if you don’t have a lot of experience, when you are sure you can do somethingpretty well, don’t underestimate yourself.
2. Use your connections
Nowadays most people have landed their jobs thanks to their connections. Regardless of yourconnections, consider them when looking for your summer job. This way, you can find your job fasterand be sure that you’ll get your paycheck on time. If you don’t have any connections, no worries. Igot my job without them, though it was a bit tough.
3. Ditch your bad habits
If you have any bad habits, such as smoking, drinking, procrastinating or social media addiction, consider getting rid of them while you are looking for your summer job. It’s a good motivation tochange your lifestyle and you will have a bigger chance of landing a lucrative job. Today someemployers can check your social media profiles to find out more information about your lifestyle andhabits.
4. Keep it short
When writing your resume, make sure it’s not too long. 1-2 pages will be enough to provideinformation an employer will want to know about you. Don’t lie about your skills. Adding in adegree you never completed or a skill you know you won’t be able to acquire in a week is a surefireway to fail. If you are about to submit an application, make sure it’s clearly legible and written inblack type or ink.
5. Be friendly
Frowning won’t help you land a good job. Positive attitude is the key to success. When you lookfriendly and you are actually friendly, the others notice that. Most employers claim that it’s alwaysbetter to hire a positive beginner than a negative professional. When going to a job interview, forgetall your problems and focus on the positive things to make a good first impression.
6. Don’t submit applications at random
When it comes to any job search, submitting applications at random is one of the worst mistakes youcan commit. Not only does it prevent you from finding a well-paid job, you may end up finding awrong job. Before starting your summer job search, figure out what kind of job you’d like to doeach day. Make a short list of all the possible places you really want to work and only then submitapplications.
Even though summer job may seem like a temporary job, it’s a wonderful opportunity to gain someexperience, develop new skills and earn some extra money. Moreover, this job can affect your futurejobs, which is why it’s important to be a responsible employee. Be honest and curious. If you don’tknow something, let your employer know about it. This way, they can help you learn faster andbecome a more professional worker. Who knows, maybe this temporary job will become yourpermanent one. What are the most popular summer jobs that you want to land? Do you think asummer job can help you build the experience you need to start your career? Share your thoughtswith us please.

A boy found an eagle's egg and he put it in the nest of a prairie chicken. The eagle hatched and thought he was a chicken. He grew up doing what prairie chicken do-scratching at the dirt for food and flying short distances with a noisy fluttering of wings. It was a dreary life. Gradually the eagle grew older and bitter. One day he and his prairie chicken friend saw a beautiful bird soaring on the currents of air, high above the mountains.
"Oh, I wish I could fly like that!" said the eagle. The chicken replied, "Don't give it another thought. That's the mighty eagle, the king of all birds-you could never be like him!" And the eagle didn't give it another thought. He went on cackling and complaining about life. He died thinking he was a prairie chicken. My friends, you too were born an eagle. The Creator intended you to be an eagle, so don’t listen to the prairie chickens!

Buddhi: Can you tell me about general roles in America? Is it that women do cooking or themen help out or how is it done?
Todd: I think it's changed a lot over the years. It's similar to what you said in your country.America's probably maybe one of the leading countries in trying to make it more equal, so yeah,so now it's ... the men are supposed to help cook and clean and stuff. But actually what I findinteresting is that over time I think people still settle into their old habits. I think that youngcouples start off that the husbands gonna cook and he's gonna help clean but as they get oldernaturally it does seem like women revert to more caretaking roles and men kind of get lazy Ithink. You know. Although, I have to say, growing up my step-father was pretty amazing. Hewas really good at cooking and he cooked a lot and he actually used to get home before mymother. She also worked. So he would do the most of the cooking, and he was actually thebetter cook, but my mom's a good cook too.
Buddhi: So looking at him, did you ever want to learn cooking and did you ever think like, "OK,when I grow up I'll always help whoever was around."
Todd: No, it was actually .... I'm quite ashamed. I never did really learn cooking from him ormy mother, so they never really showed me, so even to this day I'm a pretty terrible cook. Sowhat about you? Did your mother show you how to cook?
Buddhi: She did, it's just that I didn't learn and my brother ended up learning all the cookingand he's a very good cook right now, and it makes me be very ashamed of myself, but ...
Todd: So wait a minute. Wait a minute. Your mom actually took the time to show you how tocook, and you say you still can't cook?
Buddhi: Yes!!!!
Todd: Why? What happened?
Buddhi: I don't know. I don't know. Sri Lankan cooking is so difficult and it takes ... it's reallytime consuming, but I wouldn't want to say that out too loud cause there are some like manygood cooks as well, it's just that I'm not good at it, but .... I mean, I'm not that that bad. It'sjust that my food don't turn out to be as good as my mom's.
Todd: Right.

I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
Wow, what a dream it has been for Martin Luther King. But the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes I personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.
However, we meed dreams. They nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. They keep us going. Most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. Don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.
Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.

(Compulsory Education)
(Further Education)
(Higher Education)
(Bachelor Degree)
研究生(Master Degree)
博士生(Doctorial Degree)

Remember when you thought you’d have life all figured out by the age of 30?
But now here you are, officially a 30-something and yet your life is far from sorted. Well, don’t worry, you’re not alone.
For most of us, our 30s are a time of change and uncertainty. Perhaps things haven’t worked out quite how you would have liked so far. But the good news is, there’s still plenty time to shape the life you want and you’re sure to learn a lot along the way.
I turned 40 last month which means somehow I made it through my 30s in one piece. Now, I’m still no life expert but as I reflect on the last ten years, I’m amazed at how much I’ve learnt.
Here are some of the lessons you’ll learn during your 30s.
1. You’ll learn friendships change
Your friendships will change a lot during your 30s. As people pair up, have kids, move house or change jobs, your friendships inevitably alter.
You may discover friends you have known for years don’t make the effort to keep in touch anymore. Or perhaps you no longer have anything in common with friends you’ve had since childhood.
It’s difficult to accept but there may be people who simply aren’t meant to be in your friendship circle anymore. But new friendships will take their place and the good news is, the friends you have at the end of your 30s will probably be friends for life.
2. You’ll learn to make big decisions
When you enter your 30s, you realize those big decisions you’ve been putting off can’t wait forever.
During my 30s I moved house twice, set up a business and had a baby. All demanded huge decisions that I’d been able to avoid during my 20s.
Decisions about your career, family, finances and relationships – you’ll face them all during your 30s. And no matter how old you get, making decisions is tough but with every big decision, your life changes; usually for the better.
3. You’ll learn about heartache
Divorce, fertility issues, bereavement, these are all things many people in their 30s have to face, often for the first time. The thing is, the journey through life isn’t meant to be straightforward and you can only really appreciate the highs, when you’ve also experienced the lows.
As Winston Churchill said: “If you’re going through hell, keep going”.
4. You’ll learn what’s really important
As you get older, your priorities change. The things that were important to you in your 20s such as making money or owning the latest gadgets will now seem less important.
Your 30s is a time to redefine your priorities; whether that’s traveling more, achieving a better work/life balance, or starting a family.
5. You’ll learn about compromise
Life is full of compromises and during your 30s you may find you have to compromise on big things such as taking a pay cut to get the job you really want, or moving city to be with the person you love.
Of course, it’s equally important to know when not to compromise. If you want kids but your partner doesn’t, it’s probably impossible to find a compromise. Instead, you may have to make the difficult decision to walk away from the relationship to get the life you really want.
6. You’ll learn to look after your body
Alcohol, sugar, late nights; they all take their toll. In your 20s you can enjoy your vices without inflicting too much long-term damage. But in your 30s, all those bad choices suddenly have a huge impact.
When you look in the mirror and see wrinkles, grey hairs and saggy skin for the first time, it’s a shock. And while you can’t reverse the ageing process (at least not without lots of cash and a great cosmetic surgeon), you can slow down the effects of ageing by making smart choices.
Now is the time to nurture your body to keep you healthy throughout your 30s and beyond.
7. You’ll learn to invest in the future
“Live for today” is the mantra of most 20-somethings. And this is perfect when you’ve got plenty time ahead to iron out your mistakes. But as you enter your 30s, you’ll realize although enjoying the moment is still important, you also need to plan for the future.
By investing in your finances, your health and your relationships you’ll form good habits that will make your future healthier and happier.
8. You’ll learn life is short
In your 20s you had the luxury of knowing that your whole life was still ahead of you. Meanwhile in your 30s, the sensation that time is hurtling along just keeps getting stronger.
You’ll treasure every second more and only go for things you really like or really needed.
9. You’ll learn about regret
Did you want to be a millionaire by the time you were 30? Travel the world? Win an Oscar? Goals you had in your 20s may no longer seem achievable and although it’s hard to let go of your dreams, with the wisdom you’ve gained, you can create new ones.
10. You’ll learn about children
Whether you already have kids, want kids, or definitely don’t want kids; there’s no escaping the fact that during your 30s everyone seems to be talking about children.
When you have absolutely no interest in kids, all the conversations about diapers and nurseries can become tiresome. But seeing your friends settle down and have kids can clarify how you feel about starting your own family.
You may find your thoughts about children change when you hit your 30s. Plenty of people (including me) change from thinking “definitely not”, to “definitely maybe” as they realize it’s a decision that can’t be put off forever.
11. You’ll learn to develop your own style
Knowing how to dress in your 30s isn’t easy. You’re too mature to wear teenage fashions but not ready to dress like your parents. Take the opportunity to develop your own style. It’s refreshing not to have to be a slave to fashion anymore.
12. You’ll learn to socialize differently
If your 20s were all about all-night parties and being seen in the hippest clubs; you may learn your tastes change in your 30s. Personally, I’d rather go for coffee than cocktails and much prefer watching a film with friends to hitting the town.
Being in your 30s gives you the freedom to do the things you really want to do, not what you think you should be doing.
13. You’ll learn not to sweat the small stuff
Remember when you were worried about everything? What to wear, how to cut your hair, whether your colleagues thought you were a dork for staying in on Saturday night? Well, great news; in your 30s you’ll learn not to care about the little things.
It’s painful to realize how much time you wasted overthinking things but the worries that caused you sleepless nights in your 20s simply won’t matter anymore. And when you learn not to sweat the small stuff, you’ll have more energy to focus on more important things.
14. You’ll learn to manage your money
If you haven’t already got your finances in check, you’ll learn to during your 30s. No doubt you’ll make some mistakes along the way but you’ll quickly become an expert.
Whether you’re investing in business, property or parenthood; now is the time to focus on money matters and financial planning.
15. You’ll learn to value your family
During our late teens and 20s many people grow apart from their parents and siblings as they fly the nest and embrace freedom. But during our 30s, many rediscover the importance of family.
Having kids of your own can bring you closer to your parents. And as your friendships change, it’s comforting to have the stability of family relationships.
16. You’ll learn to stand up for yourself
Whether it’s asking for a pay rise, or standing up to bullies at work, once you’re in your 30s, you’ll learn how to be assertive when it counts. Confidence comes with age so don’t be afraid to ask for what you want; you just might get it.
17. You’ll learn to love yourself
Your 20s can be a difficult time when you’re constantly comparing yourself to others and worrying “am I good enough?”. Well, the good news is your insecurities lessen during your 30s.
You might not have life completely figured out yet but you’ll definitely care less about what others think and learn to love yourself a whole lot more.

Have you ever been around someone who immediately put you at ease? Perhaps you may be one of those people who others feel safe around.
What is the common thread in people who emanate warmth? Some may think it is related to personality or physical appearance. But this does little to explain why bright beacons of light can be found anywhere. Essence has nothing to do with our exterior.
I like to believe the common thread is a universal trait we are all able to tap into. When we see the truth of who we are and wholeheartedly love every part of that truth, we automatically shine. When we embrace our essence and live in congruence with who we are, we radiate peace.
Every day we can choose to wake up and see the gift of getting to be who we are. When we decide to live from this way of "being," it becomes easy to see this same light and gift in everyone — even those who may not yet see it in themselves.
The benefits of self-love are many. What I know to be true without a doubt in my heart, is that we are all capable of giving this gift to ourselves.
These words help me remember why embracing my essence is always the best thing to do. Perhaps this may resonate with where you are.
When you love who you are,
you become a conduit of light.
Just drop into your heart space,
and live life from this view.
For all of this doing
is not who you are.
Listen to your heart’s soft whisper,
this voice will show you the way.
Live life from your essence
is what she will say.
See the light in yourself,
and your world will be bright.
There is no need to worry,
you are exactly as you should be;
你正是自己本来的模样;
remember to love who you are,
and love you will see.

Through the cold winter wasteland a man trudged, leaning into the harsh wind which spitefully tried to force him back. He was covered from head to toe in layers of thick clothing, layers of protection against the harsh environment. On he fought, searching, searching. He was working so hard. This must be the way.
In the distance he saw what looked like steam rising out of the ground. It rose a few feet and then was quickly whipped away by the biting wind. He altered his course and turned towards the steam, gaining some blessed relief as he turned his chapped face out of the gale.
As he got closer, he thought he could make out voices. Their tone was unfamiliar to him - musical, relaxed and warm - their melody enticed him closer. Finally he got close enough to peer through the mist.
There before him was a remarkable sight. In the midst of the frozen wasteland, cut into the ground was a large pool. Several people were in the pool, they seemed to be floating easily without any effort. As they saw him approach, a woman called out to him.
"Come in here. It is lovely and warm. You can just lie back and relax," said the woman.
"I can't. There are no steps." The man replied.
"Just jump in. It really is lovely in here. Come on. Theoure's plenty of room for another." Another of the floaters joined in the persuasion.
"But what if I don't like it, how will I get out? The sides are too high to reach up to."
"Believe me, you won't want to get out. Come on. It is so good in here."
But he decided not to jump in. And that was a wise decision.
